St . Peter ' s Lodge , No . 481 . —Tlio regular meeting of this Lodgo was held in tho Masonic Hall , Maple-street , Nowcastle-on-Tyno , on Monday , llth October . Tho Lodgo was opened by Bro . J . Gibbon Secretary , Joseph Cook D . C ,

The minutes of the last regular meeting having been read and confirmed , Bro . W . R . Pape signified his intention of taking his second degree , when ho was entrusted with tho test of merit , and retired for preparation . The Lodge was tlmn opened in tho second degree ,

when Bro . W . 7 ? ,. Pape was re-admitted , and ably passed to the 2 nd degree by the W . M ., who explained tho Tracing-board , and gave the charge , the I . P . M . Bro . Usher giving tho ceremony in tlio S . E . corner , while Bro . Prentice S . W . explained tho working fools . Lodgo was then closed , when the brethren adjourned for refreshment . Tho toasts of tho Queen and Princo of Wales having boon duly

proposed and honoured , tho W . M . brought forward tho Visitors , and coupled tho name of Bro . F . H . Oorder W . M . lfiO-4 with the toast , who responded in felicitous terms . regular Lodge meeting were read and confirmed . The ballot was taken for Mr . William Goff , timber merchant , of Reading , and ho was declared to be elected . Bro . Mace , being a candidate to be passed to the second degree , replied to the usual questions , and retired to bo prepared . The Lodge was opened in the second degree . Bro . Mace was passed to the degree of F . C . Tho lecturo and chanro in this

degree wero deferred to a future time , in consequence of the agenda paper being full of business . The Lodgo was resumed in tho first degree , when the election of a Worshipful Master for tho ensuing year took place , resulting in tlie S . W . Bro . W . Ferguson being chosen to fill that important office ; he was accordingly congratulated , and appropriately returned thanks for tho honour conferred upon him .

He then nominated Bros . Blackwell , W . Ridley , Newman , and TIawkos as the Banquet Stewards in November . Bro . J . T . Stransom was again unanimously elected as Treasurer , and congratulated upon his successful management of the finances of the Lodgo . Bro . Stransom , in a brief speech , returned thanks , for tho eighth time , on his appointment as Treasurer , and expressed the hope thafc ho shonld bo

supported by the punctual contributions of the members , so that he might keep the balance on the right side of tho book . Tbe Tyler , Bro . Hemmings , was re-elected , and returned thanks . Bro . Hurley P . M . Prov . Grand Supfc . of Works Berks and Bucks addressed the Lodge , and stated that he had much pleasure in moving— " Thafc the best thanks of the members of the Grey Friars Lodge be given to

Bro . Danks for the able manner in which he has carried on the duties of Worshipful Master of the Lodge for the past year , and that a Past Master ' s jewel be presented to him afc the next meeting of the Lodge , to be held in November , and that this motion be entered upon the minutes . " As one of the founders of the Lodge , he wished to bear testimony to the admirable manner in which the ceremonies had

heen conducted , which had not been surpassed since the consecratioi ; of the Locige ; and he trusted tho members would accord a unanimous vote on the present occasion . Bro . Margrett P . M . had much pleasure in seconding Bro . Hurley ' s motion ; ho felt that no Master deserved the compliment more than Bro . Danks . Tho motion was unanimousl y carried , with acclamation . The W . M ., in returning thanks , expressed

himself as overcome by the flattering expressions of his predecessors in office , and assured tho brethren that though ho had worked very hard , still he considered it had been but a labour of lovo for his mother Lodge ; he also said that it required no present of gold or silver to remind him of the kindness ' of tho brethren , and of the

courtesy and assistance of his Officers . After the proposing of candidates for initiation and the usual ceremonies and salutations , tho Lodge , was closed in ancient form . The brethren retired for refreshment to Bro . Bailey ' s , Ship Hotel , where an agreeable evening was spent .
