Philip Levy acting as seconder to tho respective candidates , Tho result was favourable , and the two gentlemen wero separately introduced and initiated into the mysteries oi' Freemasonry ,- Bro . Pare giving careful readings of tho ceremony . Tho Committee of tho Benevolent Fund iu connection with the Lodge announced thoy had made a grunt of £ 25 in aid of a late member of tho Lodge , who
was in distressed circumstances , and the members formally gave their assent to tho proceeding . Somo matters of homo interest were discussed , after which Lodgo was closed . A most liberally supplied banquet was then served , and tho brethren assembled did amplo justice to tho repast . On the removal of the cloth , Bro . Pare briefly introduced tho toasts , which were received most loyally . After that
of tho Queen aud tho Craft tho National Anthem was sung . The toast of tho M . W . tho G . M . was followed by that of tho Pro G . M ., tho D . G . M ., ancl the rest of tho Grand Oflicers Present and Past . Tho AV . M . had now the pleasure of proposing the health of the initiates . Both their new members had been highly recommended to thom , and ho hoped that each would tread in tho footsteps of tho many worthy
brethren who had preceded them iu tho Lodge . Bvo . Levy waa tlie first who replied ; he trusted the members would excuse him when ho expressed a fervent hope that it might not bo many years ero ho occupied tho Worshipful Master ' s seat . Bro . Mortimer Hill assured the brethren ho would endeavour to carry out to tho best of his ability the precepts so forcibly commended to his attention during tho
evening ; he thanked the brethren for accepting him as a member of their distinguished Order . Tho W . M . on rising to propose tho next toast , regretted that he did not feel quite up to tho mark . However , he had now to give a toast which was always well received in the Lodge of Tranquillity . Bro . Pare then , on behalf of his Lodge , tendered a hearty greeting to oich nnd all of tho Visitors present ; he referred to
the advantages to be derived from an interchange of visits , aud coupled with the toast tho names of Bros . Adamson , Jacobs aud Chapman . Posener , Bro . Saul Solomon tho senior P . M . proposed tho health of
tho W . M . Tn such a Lodgo as that of Tranquillity a W . M . ' s duties were very heavy . Bro . Pare hid entered the Lodgo almost a stranger , but from the assiduity and industry he evinced he soon won tho good opinion of tho member .- * , and had worked np to his present position , where lie could boast of possessing tho a fleet ion and esteem of ail . Personally ho ( Bro . Solomon ) was convinced tho m .-mbcrs had
not done wrong in so elevating Bro . Pare , and he was sure ho echoed tho sentiments of ono and all when ho stated that when the time camo for thoir Worshipful Master to leave his chair lie would cany with him tho best wishes of all with whom he had been associated in tho Locige . Bro . Pare on rising , again referred to tho slight ailment ho was afflicted with ; he felt what
little breath ho thought he possessed had been taken away by the many kind things Bro . Solomon had said of him . Ifo thanked the brethren for the hearty way in which they had received tho toast . When ho undertook the duties of the chair ho mado up his mind to do the work thoroughly , and tho knowledge that lie had so far sncceccded was most gratifying . He trusted the same happy future was before
