took p lace at the Borough Hall , Stafford , in the resence of a brilliant assemblage of brethren . The Earl of Lathom , Dep . G . Master England , officiated as Installing for
Master . Our report of the * proceedings , reasons we state elsewhere , is deferred till next week , but we take this early opportunity of congratulating our E Worshipful Bro . Tudor on his installation , and the auspicious circumstances under which it took place .
Our attention was drawn , the other evening , at the meeting of the Evening Star Lodge , to a most deserving case , that of the Widow Diver , aged 63 years , who is a candidate for election on the Female Fund of the Eoyal Masonic Benevolent Institution in May . Mrs . Diver is
the widow of Bro . Thomas Diver , M . D ., who was initiated into Freemasonry in the month of February 1858 , and attained the rank of Deputy District Grand Master of Bombay . He was , likewise , an active supporter of two of our Institutions , namely , the Benevolent and the Girls '
School . Mrs . Diver , therefore , has a claim upon the support , as well as the respect , of the Governors and subscribers to the Asylum for Aged ancl Deceased Brethren and their Widows . Her late husband ' s death occurred suddenly , and at the time of its occurrence she was lying
helpless , through an accident at the Victoria Eailway Station , by which her collar-bone and leg were broken . What is still more to the point , is , that she has never received any compensation for those injuries , which have incapacitated her from doing anything towards earning
a livelihood , and that , in the midst of these distressing circumstances , she has dependent on her a family of five children . The case is strongly recommended by Bros . Dr . Erasmus Wilson P . G . D ., James Glaisher P . G . D .,
Magnus Ohren Assist . G . D . of C , F . Adlard P . M . No . 7 , F . W . Mitchell P . P . G . W . Surrey , Eev . H . Burchell-Herne P . P . G . Chaplain Herts , and other brethren . Mrs . Diver has our entire sympathy , and we sincerely trust her candidature will be successful .
We understand that Bro . Egbert Eoberts underwent an operation in St . Mark ' s Hospital , City-road , B . C ., on the 8 th instant , and that he is happily progressing towards convalescence ; indeed , he is under the expectation- that it will be possible for him to leave the Hospital on the 2 nd ,
or at the very latest , the 10 th April . Bro . Dr . Gowland was the operating surgeon . While expressing our sympathy with Bro . Eoberts in his suffering , we are also glad of the opportunity of congratulating him on the favourable progress he seems to be making , ancl his near approach to a complete restoration to health .
A very pleasant meeting of the Lodge of Israel , No . 205 , was held on Tuesday , at the Cannon-street Hotel . A report will appear in our next .
Owing to the great pressure on our space , we are unfortunatel y compelled to hold over till next week several important notices , among them being that of the meeting , on Tuesday , of the Evening Star , No . 1719 , and the installation meeting of the Eoyal Union , No . 382 , Uxbridge .
At the meeting , on Wednesday , of the Lodge of Benevolence , no less a sum than £ 1435 was voted , the applications being , as our reporter has tersely worded it , exceptionally numerous and deserving . " We presume the hard times we have latterly been experiencing will account for this unusually large amount of grants to distressed brethren .

KINGSLAND LODGE OF INSTRUCTION , No . 1693 .
THE ceremonies of consecration and installation were rehearsed b y Bro . James Terry P . M ., afc the Canonbnry Tavern , N ., on Monday , 21 st instant , in the presence of nearly 100 brethren . After the minutes of previous meeting had been read and confirmed , Bro . Terry proceeded with the beautiful ceremony all were so anxious to hear . It is needless to dilate on the perfectness of Bro . Terry ' s working , suffice ifc , not a word was missed , whilst due solemnit y was
given to the many beautiful phrases . The anthem , hymns , chants and responses were mosfc ably sung by the brethren , accompanied by Bro . R . G . Thomas Org . 1602 . At the close of the consecration Bro . Terry proceeded with the installation and investiture of Officers , and again proved how thoroughly he is a master of the art , even to the smallest detail . A number of new members having
subscribed their names , Lodge was closed , ancl the brethren adjourned to a sumptuous fish supper , gratuitously supplied by Bro . Forge , J . W . Beadon 619 Secretary of this Lodge of Instruction , to which nearly eighty sat down . Bro . P . M . Hawkins occupied the chair , supported by Bros . P . M . 's Terry , George , Pearcy , Cusworth ancl others . The usual toasts having been given , Bro . Hawkins proceeded to propose
the health of Bro . Terry , and said he had no occasion to eulogise again the excellent working they all had had the pleasure of hearing . No doubt many there had done so before , bufc he ventured to say Bro . Terry certainly surpassed himself . Bro . Terry , in reply , expressed the great pleasure he always had in visiting the Kingsland Lodge of Instruction ; from the first all were glad to see it in such a
flourishing condition ; the Secretary having intimated that , after paying all the debts , which were small , there would be a balance . The health of the Secretary ancl Treasnrer followed , especial mention was made of Bvo . Forge , tho founder of the Feast , who felt ° reafc gratification in being of any service to the Kingsland Lodwe . He informed them that a collection had been made amongst fcbo brethren
to defray the necessary expense of preparing the supper ; he had much pleasure in handing Bro . Terry £ 5 5 s , and on being asked to which Charity , the brethren , being gallant and trne , replied the "Ladies , " consequently Bro . Terry will place the amount to the Widows' Fnnd . Bro . Terry felt extremely gratified ; thoao-b . the
donations were larger than in any former year , the candidates were more and the vacancies less . Bro . Terry then proposed the Chairman , who briefly replied . Several capital songs were given by Bro . Mullord , and others , while Bro . C . Townley convulsed the company with three songs , his own composition .
