E . W . Little . Bro . J . Boyd , P . M . and Treasurer , gave notice or motion that a sum of ten guineas be voted for that purpose from the Lodge funds . Ho stated that in addition to any amount that might be raised beyond the snm required for the memorial , the interest wonld be given to tho widow , and the principal was eventually to revert to the Girls' School . Tho Lodge was then closed , and tho brethren

sat down to an excellent banquet provided by Bro . A . Best , and superintended by Bro . E . Dawkius . T ^ e W . M ., who very geninllv presided , proposed tho usual Loyal and Masonio toasts . That of the Grand Officers was responded to most eloquently by Bro . Bovd . He had so frequently returned thanks for this toast , at the Prudent Brethren Lodge , that he hoped a fresh member might bo selected

for Grand honours ; the duty—always a pleasurable ono—would not then devolve on him . Bro . E . H . Thiellay P . M . had great pleasure in proposing the health of the W . M . Bro . Haslott was one who had endeared himself to every member of the Lodge . All present—whether members or visitors—respected him . Ho wonld ask them to drink his health in all sincerity . After a graceful reply from the

W . M ., Bro . T . Bull proposed the health of the Visitors , and Bro . Venn P . M . 49 replied . He thanked the W . M . for his hospitality ; he regretted there had been no working ; he knew tho W . M . waa capable of fulfilling the duties of the Lodge . Personally , he ( the speaker ) was indebted for his visit , not only on this , but on other occasions , to Bro . J . Bovd , whose working , both in Craft and Arch

Masonry , and for the Charities , was so well known and appreciated . He had listened with interest to the remarks made in the Lodsre as to recognising the services of the late Bro . Little , and he was pleased to say that the Gihon Lodge , of which he was a P . M ., had given a notice of motion that a snm of £ 5 5 s shonld be voted for the same purpose ; ho hoped every Lodge would follow this example .

After a few remarks from Bro . Brooks , Bro . H . Dicketts P . M . P . G . S . gave the Past Masters of the Lodge . To them was due the success of the Lodge . Bros . Boyd , Thiellay and T . Bull have done their duty in every sense of the word . The tasks they have had to perporform , both in this and other Lodges , were not easy , but each and every one had striven to give satisfaction . Bro . E . H .

Thiellay I . P . M . replied ; this was his mother Lodge ; it was one each member onght to be prond to belong to , and all should aspire to the honour of becoming a P . M . Tho next toast was the health of the Treas . and Sec , Bros . J . Boyd and G . States . Both were well-known , notonlyinthis Lodge , bnt throughoutthe Craft . Bro . J . Boyd contrasted thedifference in the way their evenings were passed now , in comparison

with those of years ago . We now give a large amount to the Charities ; £ 40 , 000 annually to onr three Institutions ; but wo might do more . A great responsibility devolves on tho executive , and they should be supported . We annually send up a Steward from the Lodge , and bre- j thren hitherto have liberally subscribed . Their S . W . Bro . Leggott had

got on his list nearly £ 200 . He was pleased to see the prosperity of j the Lodge . Bro , G . S . States P . G . S . Hon . Sec . followed , his services were always at their command . The W . M . then proposed the toast of the Officers , to which Bro . Leggott S . W . responded . The Tyler ' s toast was then given , and this concluded a very agreeable evening , which waa augmented by the excellent harmony of several brethren .

_ Wandsworth Lodge of Instruction . —A Lodge of Instruc tion , in connection with the Wandsworth Lodge 1044 , was held ou Wednesday , the 23 rd instant , at the Spread Eagle Hotel , Wandsworth , when the following brethren were present : —Bros . 0 . Digby , H . E . Jones , W . A . Morgan , W . J . Huntley , A . N . Newens , J . Sanders , W . Wnrdroper , J . J . Holland , A . Mason , J . Eowe , J . Featherstono , P . V . Denham , and A . A . Denham . Bro . 0 . Digby acted as W . M ., and

delivered the ritual in snch an impressive aud perfect manner as to call forth the united approbation of the brethren . Bro . Featherstone went through the ceremony of raising , Bros . Huntley acting as S . D ., P . M . Jones as J . W ., and Bro . A . N . Newens as S . W . On the motion of Bro . Jones , seconded by Bro . Holland , Bro . A . A . Denham was appointed Secretary . The names of several brethren anxious to join this Lodge of Instruction were given in and accepted . The business was concluded by the Lodge being closed from the third degree .

West Lancashire Lodge , No . 1403 , Ormskirk . — This Lodge held its annual installation meeting , or festival of St . John the Evangelist , at the Commercial Hotol , on 16 th inst ., when the Lodge was opened by Bro . G . Gould , M . A . The meeting was very numerously attended , not only by the members of the Lodge , but also by several visiting brethren from Liverpool , Southport , Wigan ,

St . Helens , & c . The regular business of the Lodge having been gone through , including the initiation of an E . A ., the Worshipfnl Master Elect , Bro . P . Draper , was presented by Bro . J . B . Lambert for installation as W . M . of the Lodge for the ensuing year . The ceremony ol installation was admirably and impressively performed by Bros . G . Gould and J . Baxendale , at the conclusion of which Bro . Lambert

Harrison ( re-elected ) Tyler . On the motion of Bro . Wigginton P . M ., seconded by Bro . Saunders I . P . M ., a Past Master ' s jewel was unanimously voted to Bro . Knaggs , for tho masterly manner in which ho had discharged tho duties of the chair . This brother was the first initiate of the Lodge , in November 1874 . The candidates for passing and raising not being present , Lodge was closed , and tho brethren adjourned to banquet ; where the usual Loyal and Masonio toasts weie duly given and honoured .

Business—Lodge was opened and the minutes of last meeting were confirmed . The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Lo Grys candidate . Lodge was opened up , when the W . M . in a very able manner worked the ceremony of raising , Bro . Bntley candidate . Lodgo was closed in the

second and third degrees . Bro . Tucker read a letter from Bro . R . B . Webster , thanking him for a cheque for £ 2 12 s , amount subscribed amongst the brethren for the widow of the late Bro . The whole of the work was carried out in a most impressive manner by the W . M . and Officers . The S . W . announced bis intention of representing the Lodge as Steward for the Benevolent Institution . The business of

the Lodge being over , the brethren sat down to an excellent banquet , served in Bro . Cox ' s best style . The Loyal and Masonic toasts were g iven and received most enthusiastically , that of the Masonic Charities particularly . In reply , Bro . Terry , Secretary R . M . B . I ., remarked on the noble manner the Lodge had subscribed , although only consecrated

a few months . He made a forcible and eloquent appeal for tbe Charities . The Visitors expressed themselves highly pleased with the working of the Lodge , and for the good things provided . Bro . L . Jacobs , L . Solomon , and C . B . Patland , who are noted throughout tl . e Craft for their vocal abilities , gave several good songs , which wero much appreciated .

Boyal Savoy Lodge , No . 1744 . —A meeting was held on Tuesday , 22 nd October , at Ashley ' s Hotel , Covent Garden , W . C . Present—Bros . Jas . Willing jun . W . M ., J . Douglass S . W ., Clemow J . W ., W . M . Stiles Sec , A . Treadwell I . P . M . Treas ., Jones S . D ., Hyland J . D ., Dellar D . C , Cook I . G ., and Jacques Org . ; Bros . Treadwell P . M ., Holt , Greenfield , Dovey , Clifton , Parkes , Lloyd , and

numerous other brethren . Visitors—Bros . Eeed P . M ., Eohrs , Osborne , Fenner , Rothschild , Jones , Gibbs , Stock , and other brethren . The ballot was taken , and Messrs . Phillip Cheek , James Carolns Smith , John Henry Vaaghan , and Michael Zumpf were declared elected . Lodge was advanced , and Bros . James W . Smith raised to the third degree . Bros . C . Hammond and J . H .

Bennett were passed to the second degree . Messrs . Cheek , Zumpf and other candidates wero duly initiated into tho mysteries of Freemasonry . The Worshipful Master Bro . J . Willing jnn . was re-elected as W . M . for the ensuing year , and Bro . P . M . Treadwell Treasurer . The Lodge was closed in due form . The brethren then adjourned to a most excellent banquet , and spent au exceedingly pleasant evening .

Harrison ( re-elected ) Tyler . On the motion of Bro . Wigginton P . M ., seconded by Bro . Saunders I . P . M ., a Past Master ' s jewel was unanimously voted to Bro . Knaggs , for tho masterly manner in which ho had discharged tho duties of the chair . This brother was the first initiate of the Lodge , in November 1874 . The candidates for passing and raising not being present , Lodge was closed , and tho brethren adjourned to banquet ; where the usual Loyal and Masonio toasts weie duly given and honoured .

Business—Lodge was opened and the minutes of last meeting were confirmed . The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Lo Grys candidate . Lodge was opened up , when the W . M . in a very able manner worked the ceremony of raising , Bro . Bntley candidate . Lodgo was closed in the

second and third degrees . Bro . Tucker read a letter from Bro . R . B . Webster , thanking him for a cheque for £ 2 12 s , amount subscribed amongst the brethren for the widow of the late Bro . Jardino , who was lost in tho Princess Alice . Bro . Green 1687 was elected a member . Bro . Fisher was elected W . M . for next meeting , and having appointed his Officers , the Lodgo was closed in due form .

The whole of the work was carried out in a most impressive manner by the W . M . and Officers . The S . W . announced bis intention of representing the Lodge as Steward for the Benevolent Institution . The business of

the Lodge being over , the brethren sat down to an excellent banquet , served in Bro . Cox ' s best style . The Loyal and Masonic toasts were g iven and received most enthusiastically , that of the Masonic Charities particularly . In reply , Bro . Terry , Secretary R . M . B . I ., remarked on the noble manner the Lodge had subscribed , although only consecrated

a few months . He made a forcible and eloquent appeal for tbe Charities . The Visitors expressed themselves highly pleased with the working of the Lodge , and for the good things provided . Bro . L . Jacobs , L . Solomon , and C . B . Patland , who are noted throughout tl . e Craft for their vocal abilities , gave several good songs , which wero much appreciated .

Boyal Savoy Lodge , No . 1744 . —A meeting was held on Tuesday , 22 nd October , at Ashley ' s Hotel , Covent Garden , W . C . Present—Bros . Jas . Willing jun . W . M ., J . Douglass S . W ., Clemow J . W ., W . M . Stiles Sec , A . Treadwell I . P . M . Treas ., Jones S . D ., Hyland J . D ., Dellar D . C , Cook I . G ., and Jacques Org . ; Bros . Treadwell P . M ., Holt , Greenfield , Dovey , Clifton , Parkes , Lloyd , and

numerous other brethren . Visitors—Bros . Eeed P . M ., Eohrs , Osborne , Fenner , Rothschild , Jones , Gibbs , Stock , and other brethren . The ballot was taken , and Messrs . Phillip Cheek , James Carolns Smith , John Henry Vaaghan , and Michael Zumpf were declared elected . Lodge was advanced , and Bros . James W . Smith raised to the third degree . Bros . C . Hammond and J . H .

Bennett were passed to the second degree . Messrs . Cheek , Zumpf and other candidates wero duly initiated into tho mysteries of Freemasonry . The Worshipful Master Bro . J . Willing jnn . was re-elected as W . M . for the ensuing year , and Bro . P . M . Treadwell Treasurer . The Lodge was closed in due form . The brethren then adjourned to a most excellent banquet , and spent au exceedingly pleasant evening .
