Secretary , which was fixed by Grand Lodge in 1874 afc £ 500 per aonnm , rising by £ 50 per annum to a maximum of £ 800 . In 1887 the salary of the late Grand Secretary , Colonel Shadwell H . Gierke , waa raised to £ 1000 .
The Board , taking into consideration the peculiar nature of the qualifications for the Office of Grand Secretary , tho important duties he ia called npon to perform , the great increase in the work since 1874 , and that there is no pension on retirement , unanimously reoom . mend that the salary of Grand Secretary on appointment be £ 1000
