cordin <* ly , that snch addition tako the form of tho appointment annually of two Standard Hearers and a Doputy Director of Ceremonies , aud that the same take effect on and after the Grand Festival of 1882 .
3 rd . —The Board also recommend that in Provinces numbering forty Lodges aud upwards the Provincial Grand Masters shall be empowered to appoint annually four Deaeons , instead of two as at present , and also a Deput y Director of Ceremonies . 1 th . —The Board havo to report further that thoir Premises
Committee havo laid before them a statement that an opportunity occurs of acquiring a freehold stable and premises in Now Yard , adjoining the property of Grand Lodge ; that £ 1000 has been asked for these premises , which the Committee consider far in excess of its value , but , after careful consideration , are of opinion that for the sum of
£ 600 the premises in question would be a useful acquisition to Grand Lodge , aud the Board agreeing with the Premises Committee in their opinion recommend Grand Lodge to authorise the purchase of the said freehold premises ( containing some 450 feet superficial ) at a price not exceeding £ 600 .
5 th . —The President will move accordingly . The Board of General Purposes , to whom it was on the 2 nd day < £ March last referred to investigate tho appeal involved in the follow , ing Motion proposed to Grand Lodge by Bro . Tndor Trevor and to report thereon to the next meeting of Grand Lodge : —
That in consideration of tho very exceptional circumstances of his application for pecuniary assistance , and that he has been much embarrassed by the un-Masonio litigation which ensued in defiance of the Principles of the Craft , and especially of No . 6 of Antient Charges and
Regulations , consequent on tho part ho took in the exclusion from his Lodge , No . 1511 , of an offending brother ( which exclusion was approved by the Provincial Grand Master ) , this Grand Lodge is pleased as a Special Case to direct the grant of £ 150 from
the Fund of General Purposes , to Bro . Tndor Trevor P . M ., & c . in aid of his costs in defending the action " Bio . Voigt versus Bros . Carr , Laking and Trevor , "
tried at Leeds in August last , and in respect of which costs Bro . Trevor affirms that he has already paid £ 169 4 s lid , and that he has been greatly impoverishecf thereby ,
beg to report thereon as follows : — 1 . At the request , and for the better convenience of Bro . Tudor Trevor , who represented his inability to appear in London on the
ordinary days of meeting , the Board held a Special Meeting on a day selected by him , for the purpose of considering tho reference on the Gth day of May instant , at which were present tho following members : —

2 . Bro . Tudor Trevor , Bro . Yoigt , and also the W . Master of the Alexandra Lodge , No . 1511 , Hornsea , all received an intimation of the meeting , and all availed themselves of the opportunity of being
present . 3 . Brother Tudor and Brother Yoigt were heard at length , and th W . Master of the Alexandra Lodge was also heard in reply to severa l questions it was thought necessary to put to him .
4 . After a careful investigation of the matter referred , the following Resolutions were unanimously agreed to : — I . —That the principle of Grand Lodge devoting any portion of its Funds towards defraying the cost of legal
proceedings , not incurred by its authority or by that of the Board of General Purposes ( as its executive Board ) , would he an innovation constituting a very inconvenient precedent , and leading to most nntlesirable results .
II . —That there does not appear to be any sufficient ground or reason why the case now under investigation should be specially excepted from the operation of the principle laid down in the preceding Resolution . 5 . —And the above Resolutions are recommended b y tho Board for the adoption of Grand Lodge accordingly .

APPEAL . Appeal by Brother Charles Edward Torrance , P . M . of the St . George ' s Lodgo , No . 140 , Montreal , against a sentence of exclusion passed on him by tho Lodsre for non-payment of dues , and whioh
