A MOX'f II since we had the pleasure to record a meeting of this x ' * . new Lodge , when the proceedings were of a most gratifying character . Tho installation meeting , held on Tuesday last , was equally successful . As we stated when last wo wrote , the members of this Lcdgo belong to a " class , " consequently all who join tho brotherhood tinder the glimmer of tho Evening Star must bring

with them certain credentials . A special feature wo heard commented on at the gathering on Tuesday was , that tho brethren hold but four meetings in the year , and these aro fixed for the months of March , April , May and June . This peculiarity may be explained by the special nature of the engagements of those associated with the Lodgo . The members are all connected in somo

way or other with Gas or its belongings ; they do not assemble from any given locality , bnt from all parts of the country : conse . qnenfcly , the dates selected for the Lodge to hold meetings are days when there is not so much claim on tho time of the members . Moreover , with this particular section it is a season when conferencos arc organised , arrangements made for holding consultation

meetings , and lastly , the claims consequent upon required attendances at Parliamentary Committees , & c . These are some of the reasons nrged by the promoters for holding their limited gatherings afc periods so closely allied . Having thus far wandered from our direct course , in order to explain what appeared to some whom we met anomalous , we now proceed to detail the particulars of what

transpired . The Lodge was opened at five o ' clock by the AV . M . Bro . Thomas N . Kirkhatn , who was supported by his Officers , a largo majority of tho members , and the following Visitors : —Bros . John Mothven J . D . 452 , Chas . M . Ohren I . G . 452 , AV . R . Jones ( Maryhill , Scotland ) 510 , J . AV . Baldwin P . M . 1423 P . G . P . Middlesex , Joseph Aird Britannic , Robert Harris 25 , J . Sampson Peirce P . M . 2

P . G . S ., IT . Gannan C 57 , Edward AVharfcon 1706 , AV . AV . Morgan Seeill , Osniau Vincent P . M . 1547 , E . E . Phillips 475 , AV . R . Phillips 175 , AV . E . AVilkins 1-10 , E . Moss 1706 , F . Mead 212 , Henri do Sella 1017 , H . Massey P . M . 619 , and W . H . Bale 87 . The minutes of last meeting wero read , confirmed and signed . Tho Treasurer then called ou the members to pay over subscriptions and fees duo to tho

Lodgo . The resignation of two members was announced , and tho samo was accepted with regret . The Special Committee then pre . sentod their Report , when Bro . Magnus Ohren moved that the same , with the balance-sheet , be received , adopted and entered upon tho minutes , and that it be printed and circulated . This was seconded by Bro . Jas . Glaisher , and carried unanimously . Bro . J . AV . Su" - "

P . M . then took tho chair as Installing Master , and the AV . M . elect , Bro . John Aird , wa 3 presented and received the benefits of installufciou . Bro . Sugg is a competent worker , aud on this occasion his rendering of tho ceremony was most perfect . Tho AV . Master invested the following as his Officers for tho year : —Brothers William Sugg S . W ., T . A . Greene J . AV ., Jas . Glaisher Treasurer , Maguus Ohren Secretary , J . AV . Sugg I , G . and D . C , G . C . Trcwby
