Lodge waa opened in regular form , tho minutes Avere read and confirmed . The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed by the W . M ., Bro .

Fenner being the candidate . Bro . Pelikan worked the first , Bro . Fenner the second , Bro . Hallam sen . the fourth section of the Lecture , assisted by the brethren . Bro . H . M . Symons , of the mother Lodge , was elected a member . Bro . Pelikan was appointed W . M . for next meeting . A vote of thanks was accorded the W . M . for the excellent manner he had filled the chair of W . M . for the first time in this or any othor Lodge , after which Lodge was closed and adjourned .

The Constitutional Lodge of Instruction , No . 55 . — Held its weekly meeting on Tuesday , 24 th June , at Bro . Bond ' s , Tho Bedford Hotel , Southampton BuildingB , Holborn . Present—Bro . Lister W . M ., Willey S . W ., Dodson J . W ., Linscott S . D ., Hallam J . D ., Cornu I . G ., Dickins Sectry ., P . M . Bingemann Preceptor . Bros . Low , Kidder , Tate , Davis , Bond , Baker , and several others . Lodge

was opened in due form , and the minutes read and confirmed . The ceremony of initiation was rehoarsed , Bro . Davis being the candidate . The second , third , and fourth sections of the lecture were worked by Bro . Hallam . Bro . Davis of Lodge 228 was unanimously elected a member of this Lodge of Instruction . . Bro . Willey was elected W . M .

for the ensuing week , and oppointed his officers in rotation . A vote of thanks was ordered to be recorded on the minutes to Bro . Lister , for his able working on this the first occasion in this Lodgo of Instruction . All Masonic business being ended , the Lodge Avas closed in perfect harmony , and adjourned to Tuesday 1 st July .

Percy Lodge of Instruction , No . 198 . —Held its usual meeting at Bro . Fysh's , Jolly Farmers , Southgate-road , on Saturday , the 21 st , under the presidency of Bro . F . Brasted , who was supported by Bros . J . Lorkin S . W ., Fidler J . W ., Fenner Sec , Hallam acting Preceptor , Gibb 3 S . D ., Williams J . D ., Little I . G ., also Bros . J . A . Powell , McMillan , Parks , Adams , C . Lorkin , Garrod , Davies , and

Fysh . Formalities were gone through ; Bro . McMillan gave satisfactory proof of his proficiency , and was entrusted . Lodge was opened in tho third degree , and the ceremony of raising rehearsed by the W . M ., in a very correct manner ; the ceremony being completed by the recital of the traditional history . Bro . Hallam worked the first and third

sections of the Lecture , assisted by the brethren . Lodge was closed down to the first . Bro . Littlo of the Guelph Lodge 1685 was elected a member ; Bro . J . Lorkin was elected to preside at the next meeting , which will be the last before the summer vacation . Lodgo was closed and adjourned .

High Cross Lodge , No . 754 . —The regular meeting of this Lodge was held at the Seven Sisters ' , Tottenham , on Wednesday . Bro . Stephens the W . M . presided , and after the usual routine business proceeded , after the ballot bad been taken , to initiate Mr . Harry Cooper into the mysteries of Freemasonry . The Bye-Laws of the Lodge wero read , and the name of a gentleman for initiation having

been given , the W . M . closed his Lodge . The brethren adjourned to supper , whioh having been partaken of , the usual toasts wore given . In introducing that of the Queen , the W . M . referred to the kind sympathy that Her Majesty had shown the Ex-Empress of France in her recent bereavement . The toast was heartily received , and was followed by that of H . K . H . tbe Prince of Wales Grand Master , with

this the W . M . coupled the healths of the Pro G . M ., the Deputy G . Master , and the rest of the Grand Officers Past and Presant , paying a jnst compliment to their exertions on behalf of Freemasonry . Bro . J . Wells P . M . assumed the gavel , and had great pleasure in proposing the health of tho W . M ., whom ho complimented for his kind and affable manner , and his general ability in conducting tho affairs of the

Lodge . Bro . Stephens was , he observed , very near the end of his term of office , and he hoped that whoever might be appointed as his successor would , if possible , be a better man ; but he was afraid few could give greater satisfaction than their present Master . After a song , the W . M . rose to reply . He tendered his heartiest thanks for the kindness at all times extended towards him , and hoped to merit a continuance of the favours of the brethren . He had done his best in

the past , and was only too pleased to find that it had met the approval of the members . Hia next duty was a most pleasing one , and one that he felt would merit the heartiest reception from all assembled . It was a great episode in tho career of a Lodge to receive a new member among them , and ho trnsted that the brother who had been initiated that evening would show that he had been impressed with

the ceremony performed on hia behalf . Ho could assure him that the more he looked into Freemasonry the more he would find that the brethren were anxious for the welfare of their follows . Bro . Cooper , in his reply , thanked the brethren for the reception that had been given him . At present he was not in a position to say muoh of Freemasonry , but ho trusted that the more ho saw of ifc the

better he should like it , and finally prove himself worthy of the position that had been accorded him . The next toast tho W . M . had to propose waa that of the Visitors . Ho considered this a moat pleasing part of hia duty , aa he felt assured that each member waa gratified at seeing the guests who had honoured them with their presence . Thoy were not so numerously supported by viaitors as

thoy wore afc the last meeting , but thoy somewhat made up for quantity by quality . He reforred to the exertions the press wore making to advance the cause of Freemasonry by reporting the various meetinga that took place , and thereby giving brethren who were unable to be present an idea of what was taking place . ( FREEMASON ' S CHRONICLE ) , responded to the toast . The W . M . next called npon the brethren to drink to the health of the P . M . ' s , whom ho thanked for the assistance they at all times rendered the W . M . in carrying out the duties of the Lodge , and hoped they would be among those present at many future meetings . Bro . Wells returned thanks . He considered it the duty of every Past Master to support

the Master , and regretted that the present ruler had not been better supported than he had . The health of the Officers waa next drunk . Without them the W . M . felt he should have been unable to carry on the affairs of the Lodge—he hoped that he should always havo them to assist him . Bro . S . W . replied , after which the Tyler waa

being a candidate for the second degree , was duly examined ; he answered most satisfactorily , and retired . Lodge was opened in the second degree , and the W . M . iu a most impressive manner passed Bro . Band . Bro . J . W . gave the charge , and Bro . S . W . the antient lecture , in finished style . A word of praise is due to the whole of the Officers for the steady and efficient manner in which they performed their several duties . Lodgo was closed in the second

degree . Bro . Usher P . M . announced that he had accepted the offico of Steward at the forthcoming Festival on the 25 th inst . ; he mado an urgent appeal to the brethreu to assist him in his efforts . Bro . T . Ayling proposed , and Bro . E . Kirby seconded , that five guineas out of the Lodge funds be placed on Bro . Usher ' s list;—carried unanimously . Lodge was closed in ancient form , and the brethren spent a most pleasant hour together .
