If , however , they conld look in npon his Lordship at this timo , ho had no doubt th > y should find they were in his Lordship ' s thoughts , and that his heart was with them . The W . Philbrick had—no doubt at some personal sacrifice—been present thafc day , and so well supplied the place of the Provincial Grand Master . He could nofc help feeling when he was repeating the solemn words of the ritual that Bro . Philbrick ought to have been in the Church , aud if so he would have been a Bishop ; bufc , being a Barrister , ho
ought to be a Judge . Ifc was a groat thing for this Province to have a Brother of Mr . The Craft afc large stood high in public estimation , and ifc must be the aim of the founders of the Easterford Lodge fco endeavour to maintain a high standard of Masonic worth . The Province also was ab the present time in a
very strong position . When be ( Bro . Philbrick ) was first called by the late Lord Tenfcerden to assist in the ruling of this Province there wore only 19 Lodges , this one they had inaugurated that day was the thirty . first , so that they had increased nearly fifty per cent . They were also a united Province , and he trusted would continue to be so .
In conclusion , Bro . Philbrick congratulated the Lodge upon having so excellent a W . M . to preside over them , and wished thorn every prosperity . The other toasts wero the W . A NOVEL feature in connection with this Lodge is the attendance , at one or more of the meetings during the year , of ladies at the banquet following the nsual business meeting . These , in years gone by , have proved very enjoyable , and are now looked npon as quite a regnlar thing among fche members of tbe Lodge , whose innovation has certainly mnch to recommend ifc for something like general adoption throughout the metropolis .
Thursday was the regular meeting night of the Lodge , and the Master , Bro . F . G . Barns , fco meet the wishes of fche members , decided it should be a " Ladies' nighfc . The Lodge having been formally opened and the minutes confirmed , Bros . Robert Lillico

The Lodgo was then closed , and the company , which numbered upwards of 70 , safc down to banquet . This having been concluded , the Master submitted the usual toasts . The first—that of Her Majesty
the Queen—they no doubt all anticipated , bufc it would uot be less loyally received on that account , particularly as on thafc occasion thoy had around the festive board so many of tho sisters of Her Majesty . He considered much more praise had been showered npon him than ho deserved—all he could now do was to try and deserve such good opinions in tbe fnture .
