SHAMROCK AND THISTLE LODGE , No . 175 , GLASGOW .

PRESENTATION TO BRO . HIGGINS . THIS worthy brother , who lias been an active member of the Lodge for above twenty years , during 15 of which he has served the office of Senior Steward , was presented by the members with a very handsome marblo timepiece nnd { fold Maltese crops pendant , on which was a suitable inscription ; also , for tho use of Mrs . Biggins , a handsome watch-chain ancl locket , set with diamonds . Tho hall was crowded with the members ancl deputations from other Lodges , Bro . Higeins being much respected in tho Province . G . W . Wheeler representing 73 , A . Bain P . M . with a largo deputation from 103 ,

Dr . Lewis R . W . M . 150 , P . Hepburn S . M ., R . . Took 128 , Bros . Findler R . W . M . 333 , R . Smart R . W . M . 317 , and McNamrht R . W . M . 550 . Bro . D . Ronald R . W . M . of 175 having opened the Lnclaro , called tho brethren off to refreshment , and then proposed tho Sister Lodges , which was responded to by each of the Masters present , in appropriate terms . Ho then , most eloquently , made tho presentation . Bro . Biggins , in hia reply , said he was quite nnablo to do justice to his own feeling of gratitude for this splendid testimonial to his humble services . Ho found ho was getting very much unlike his Mother Lodge , for tho older she got the stronger she got , while he found that ho was getting feebler . The R . W . M . said , in compliance with a time-honoured custom , ho should ask the Masters and Wardens of tho deputation present to preside in turn in his place . Bro . Burn ancl tlio Warden of 103 then took tho chairs . Bro . Burn called on Bro . J . Johnson to sing , and took occasion to direct attention to tho lato visit of Bro . General Grant to this city , ancl tho debt we , as Freemasons , owed to him for his exertions to spread happiness by freeing tho slaves . Dr . Lewis R . W . M . of 150 , Kilbarchan , on taking the chair , said it was a night of coincidents , for at that moment the Lodge resembled the Grand Lodge of England , as the Master and Wardens wero brothers in blood as well as in the Craft , and it was not an every day occurrence to see three brothers of one family in the three chairs of a Lodgo , but he had five of his natural brothers all Masons , and four of them were initiated by himself .

Eboracum Lodge , No . 1611 . —An emergency meeting of this Lodge was held at York , on Monday last , when Bro . Jackson was raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason , the W . M ., Bro . Thos . Cooper P P . G . D . C and P . M . 230 , ably performing tho ceremony . At its conclusion the Lodgo was lowered , and a Lodge of Instruction was formed , Bro . T . B . Whytehead S . W . occupying the chair and working the second degree At refreshment , after the closo of tlio Lodge , Bro . Appleyard , the Treasurer of the Lodge Famine Fund ,, announced that he had already paid over tho sum of £ 10 10 s to tho Lord Mayor of York , and ho expected tho subscription to realise £ 15 .

HOLT . OWAT ' S Pins . —With tho darkening days and changing temperatures the digestion becon es impaired , tho liver disordered , and tho mind despondent unless the cause of the irregularity bo expelled from tho blood and body by an alterative like these Pills . They go directly to tho source of tho evil , thrust out nil impurities from the circulation , reduce distempered organs to their natural state , and correct all defective and contaminated secretions . Such easy means of instituting henlth , strength , arid cheerfulness should be in the possession of all whose stomsichs are weak , whoso minds are much harassed , or whose brains are over worked . Ilolloway ' s is essentially a blood tempering medicine whereby its influence , reaching tho remotest fibre of the frame , effects a universal good . '
