M . addressed the Brethren , stating that he had on this occasion the gratification to announce the presence of the R . AV . Bro . J . D . AViliardP . G . M .
, of the State of New York , Avhom he felt assured they AA-ould be much rejoiced to receive with that distinction which his high station demanded . He therefore called upon them to salute the Avorthy Bi'other in Masonic form . This being done , the M . AV . Bro . AViliard said he could only express on behalf of himself and the great Masonic Fraternity of
the Western AVorld , his deep gratification for this mark of honour , which he felt to be paid , not so much to himself as to them , and as eA'idencing that the principles of Freemasonry , which knew no distinction of country , colour , or realm , were cherished Avith the same affection in this country as they were on the opposite side of the Atlantic . The minutes of the last Quarterly Communication and of the Grand Festival , were severally read and confirmed .
Ihe M . AV . G . M ., in conformity Avith the notice he had previously given , now proposed that Bro . J . W . Hobbs , who had filled the office of G . 0 . for the last five years , but who had now retired , should in future take seat in G . L ., and wear clothing as P . G .
