NEWOASTLE-UNDER-LINE , Jan . 23 . —Masonic Ball . —This assembly took place at the Castle Hotel . The immediate object of the ball was to benefit the Blasonic Charities , and we are happy in being able to state that that object will be fully attained by the realization of a considerable surplus fund , the proceeds of the ball . The attendance was much larger than has been known at any assembly of late years in Newcastle , upwards of one hundred and sixty ladies and gentlemen being present ,
among whom were some of the principal families of the neighbourhood . The ball , being under the patronage of the Provincial Grand Blaster , necessarily called together Brethren from the various Lodges in his province , who were decorated with their various Blasonic orders and jewels , which gave a degree of splendour to the general effect , ancl combined with the fair and fairy forms of the many elegantly dressed ladies who honoured the ball with their presence , completed the tout ensemble .
