WORKINGTON . — Sun and Sector Lodge ( No . 9 62 ) . —The tegular monthly meeting of this lodge was duly held on the 15 th ult ., when " Bro . A . E . Hill was passed tn thc degree of F . C . Bro . J . Thompson , S . W ., rose and asked the acting W . AL , Bro . " J . J . Coverdale , LP . AL , who officiated in the unavoidable absence of Bro . Recce , W . M ., to present Bros . J . VVood , P . AL , and G . B . AlcAIullcn
with their full suit of Provincial Grand Lodge clothing , which , as a mark of esteem , the brethren of the Sun and Sector had subscribed individually . The acting W . AL said it afforded him much pleasure to accede to the-wishes of his brother the S . VV . In a few appropriate words he presented Bros . VVood and AlcAIullcn , and requested them to retire and rcclothe , and on their
return to the lodge a few moie words would be said in reference to the event . The brethren having re-entered , 'The acting W . AL said he had much pleasure in performing so pleasing a duty as he had been called upon to do that evening , but thought the duty might have been placed in much more able hands than his . However , since he had it to dohe could say since his connection with No . 962 he
, had always found at the hands of the two recipients that help in Alasonic matters which it is necessary for one brother to do for another , lie could also compliment the three or four brethren who had taken each an active part in getting up this tribute of respect and esteem . He could also comp liment the whole of the brethren of the Sun and Sector Lodge , for when an appeal
was made to tli ' cm for any worthy object , they were ever ready to do their share . With regard to Bro . VVood , _ Past Alaster , who had the honour to be invested at the Provincial Grand Lodge , held here in October last , by the R . W . P . G . AL , Earl Bective , as P . G . S . B ., he might say that for his untiring zeal in Alasonry this last six years the lodge would not have been in quite the position it now enjoys ; and every
brother would bear him out when he said that Bro . VVood was always ready and willing to devote his lime lo any student of our ceremony and had the welfare of Alasonry in treneral so much at heart that he was worthy of the esteem and the handsome present he ( the W . AL ) had the pleasure in the name ol the committee and general members to present him ; and he only spoke thc feeling of the brethren
when he wished Bro . J . VVood , P . AL , all happiness in the world , and that he might be long spared fo enjoy the token of his brethren ' s love , which his endeavours had entitled him to . And Bro . AlcAIullcn ; he , also , was worthy the mark of esteem which had been jiaid him by his brethren . Although he had not yet attained the honourable nosilion of P . AL , he had filled the position of J . VV . to
his own credit and satisfaction to his W . AL . and bids fair , 1 think , at no distant dale , to occupy the chair of K . S . Bro . P . AI . VVood , in responding , said : Brethren , in ( lie name of Bro . AlcAIullcn and myself , I can scarcely find words strong enough to express our thanks for this mark of your respect and esteem , especially as wc are tolel that this presentation is not meant only as a
reward for what little Alasonic work Bro . AlcAIullcn or myself have been able to do either for the Sun and Sector in general or individual members it ; particular , but also as a strong proof of the esteem in which as individuals we are held by lhe brethren . With regard to the Alasonic work in general , brethren , we shall be happy to continue our endeavours for the advancement of our noble Craft as far as in our power lies . With respect to individual members . we
shall be happy to assist at all convenient times in getting up any of our brethren in any part of our beautiful workings . In conclusion , brethren , wc hope that the niiituafrespect and brotherly love which ex . sts between ourselves , and I am sure I may say every individual brother of lhe Sun and Sector , may long continue—that we shall alivays be able to hold out the right hand nf true fellowship to each other—to meet on the levil and to part on the
square . , "Hearty gorjd Wishes" been expressed , the lodge was closed in due form , when lhe brethren retired for a light refreshment , and two hours were very enjoyably spent in the usual manner , with Alasonic toasts and harmony .

GRAYS . —St . John ' s Lodge ( No . 1343 ) . —The installation mieling of this lodge took place on Tuesday , tho 2 Sth ult ., at the King ' s Arms Hotel , when the lodge was opened by Bro . the labours of lhe day . The following brethren were then appointed by the newly-elected W . AI . as his officers forthc year : Bros . D . Bartlett , S . VV . ; F . J . VV . Wingrovc , J . VV . ; E . The visitors tendered their " Hearty good wishes , " and lodge was closed .

The loyal ones were loyally received . With that of "The Earl of Carnarvon , Pro Grand Alaster , the Karl of Lathom , Deputy Grand Alaster , and the Grand Officers , Present and Past , " was associated the
name of Bro . Robert Gray , who was personally thanked by theW . M . for having taken so active a part in the dayi s proceedings . Bro . Gray , in replying , said it was always a pleasure to him to have his name associated with lhe distinguished Alasons who were at the head of our Alasonic Diet . This pleasure seemed to be intensified by the enthusiasm elicited from a recent event , where , through the intervention of the
Great Architect of the Universe , our Gracious Sovereign had escaped the dastardly attempt upon her life . In the Pro Grand Master and the Deputy Grand AUster they had essentially the ri g ht men in ( he right places . The provinces likewise were singularly fortunate in having good and worthy gentlemen to preside over their destinies ; he thought Essex particularly so , as few men could be more
popular than was Uro . Lord Tenterden . Bro . Gray concluding his remarks hy thanking the brethren for the hearty reception they had given him . The next toast was that of " Lord Tenterden , Provincial Grand Alaster of Essex , and the Provincial Grand Officers , Present and Past . Edwin Sturgeon ) had a livel y recollection of the day when Bro . Sackett was initiated in this lodge . I le had steadily worked upwards , and had secured the esteem of one and all its members . He felt assured the business of the lodge would bc carried on
satisfactorily . Bro . Sackett , in reply , was gratified by what had been urged in his favour by llro . Sturgeon . He had been called upon at an earlier age than he could have anticipated . He , however , fully realised the deep responsibilities he had undertaken , and would strive to the uttermost to fulfil them . In replying to ' ¦ 'The Past Alasters" Bro . E . Sturgeon
, , after expressing his regret that unavoidable circumstances had prevented some of that body lrom attending , remarked that he felt he spoke the sentiments of all when he stated they did not consider their zeal should be relaxed now they had passed die chair . He felt all desired their association with the lodge should continue for many years . For " The Visitors , " to whom the W . AL gave a hearty
welcome , Bro . Alorgan replied . He regretted that owing to the exigencies of the train service several had been compelled to leave , but hcfclt he could express the gratification all felt at the success of the day's proceedings . He congratulated the loelge on ( lie estimation in which it was held , as evidenced by the great accession to its roll of members

After the usual expressions of good wishes from the
visiting brethren and others to the chair , and regrets at the absence of the W . AL , the lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to a substantial repast , served up by the hostess , Mrs . Mitchell , in her accustomed admirable manner , followed by a long toast list , which was most agreeably disposed of .

The visitors tendered their " Hearty good wishes , " and lodge was closed .
After a short interval the banquet was served , and in a most satisfactory way . Ample justice having been done to the good things provided , the VV . AI . proceeded with the toasts . The loyal ones were loyally received . With that of "The Earl of Carnarvon , Pro Grand Alaster , the Karl of Lathom , Deputy Grand Alaster , and the Grand Officers , Present and Past , " was associated the
