S . B ., a member of the lodge , and the Secretary read copy of a letter of condolence , which was signed by the VV . M . and himself , on bshalf of the lodge , and forwarded to the widow of the deceased , together with her reply thereto , both of which were ordered to be entered on the minutes . The Secretary ( and Charity Steward ) stated that steps , inaugurated by the deceased ' s mother lodge—the Windsor Castle , No .

771—were being taken to ensure the election of one of his four orphan children to the Boys' School in April next , and he asked the brethren to assist the case , as far as possible , with their votes and interest . The remainder of the evei . ing was enjoyably spent in the disposal of the usual loyal and Masonic toasts ( all of which were enthusiastically received ) , interspersed with a splendid programme ot vocal music , ably rendered by Madame Kate Hullett , Bro . Harold Montague , the St . George ' s Glee Singers ( Gentlemen of the Chapel Royal of St . George and His Majesty ' s Private Chapel , Windsor Castle ) , Messrs . F . Smith and F . Wbitehouse , and Bios . Wilfrid Keartonand Bell Kempton , Bro . A . W . Hall , jun . Organist of the lodge , acting as accompanist .

, Having regard to the high character of the musical entertainment , the W . M . struck the keynote to short speeches in proposing and respending to the several toasts , the result being an oratoiical treat . The first toast proposed by the VV . M . was " The King and the Craft , " followed by that of "The M . W . G . M ., H . R . H . the Duke of Connaught , K . G . ; the M . W . Pro G . M ., Earl Amherst ; the R . W . Deputy G . M ., Earl of Warwick ; and the rest of the Grand Officers , Present and Past . "

Bro . J . VV . Martin , P . A . G . D . of C . Eng ., Prov . G . Sec , responded , who , after returning thanks on behalf of the Grand Officers , took the opportunity of refeninjto the losses sustained by the Province of Berkshire during the current year hi the deaths of the Prov . G . M ., Lord Wantage ; the Prov . G . Chap ., Bro . Rev . E . R . Adams ; anl the Prov . G . Treas ., Bro . C . Stephens , who had held that office since Berkshire became an independent province in 1 S 90 , he having previously occupied the same position in the united Province of Berks and Bucks for an uninterrupted period of 12 years . on to give some interesting information as to the progress of the province and its high position as regards its suppcrt to the three Masonic Charities year after year . The next toast , "The Dep . Prov . G . Master in Charge , W . Bro . J . Thornhill Morland , M . A ., P . G . D . Eng . ; and the rest of the Grand Officers of the Province of Berkshire , Present and Past , " was proposed by the W . M ., who spoke in high terms of their merits and , as Bro . Margrett , Secretary of the Provincial Charity Committee , was about to leave , he incorporated wilh it the toast of " The Masonic Charities , " an 1

asked him to respond , which he did in an able and lucid manner , alluding to the healthy condition of the province , especially in relation to its voting powers , and appealing to the brethren for support at the next elections , when there will be , in Berkshire , one case for the Boys' School and two cases for the Benevolent Institution . The toast of "The Worshipful Master" was proposed by Bro . VV . A . Cocks , I . P . M ., who testified to Bro . Reed ' s exceptional Masonic experience and ability , as well as to the high estimation in which he is held generally , and he wished him every success

during his year of office . 'Ihe W . M ., who was greeted with the fullest cordiality , in a very able response thanked Ihe brethren for such an evidence of their goodwill towards him and for the honour conferred upon him that day , and stated that his aim would be to maintain the dignity of the Victoiia Lodge during the time he occupied the W . M . 's chair , which he was so proud to do . The toast of "The Visitors" was proposed by the VV . M ., who expressed his pleasure at seeing such a large number of visitors present , offered them a cordial welrcrre on bthalf of Ihe lodge , was responded to in a happy and genial way by Bros .

In pioposing the toast of " The Installing Master , Bro . W . A . Cocks , l . P . M ., and the cthtr Past Masters of the Victoria Lodge , the W . M . spoke in eulogistic terms of Bro . Cicks , chaiacterising . him as a Mason of high degree , and paying a special compliment to Ihe ability he had shown in his performance of the whole of the installation rfremony . He also made a flattering allusion to the services of the other Past Masters .

The toast was responded to by Bros . Cocks , Prince , and Broquet . The toast of " The VVoishiplul Master and Brethren of the Etonian Lodge , No . 209 , and the Worshipful Master and Brethren of the Windsor Castle Lodge , No . 771 , " ptesentedby the VV . M ., was cordially responded to by Bros . W . E . Allaway , W . M . 209 , and Rev . F . F . Penruddock , W . M . 771 , P . P . G . Chap ., both of whom signified their recipiocation of the friendly and fraternal feeling expressed towards the other two

Windsor lodges , which they represented . After the toast of "Ihe Officers of the Lodge , " submitted by the W . M ., and responded to by the two Wardens , Bros . Marshall , P . P . G . Std . Br ., and A . A . Hardy , P . M . 382 and 2163 , who assured the W . M . that he might rely on the full support of themselves and their colleagues . The Tjlei ' s toast brought a most pleasant evening to a close .

One inteiestipg feature in the evening ' s proceedings was the presentation of a handsome marble clock to Bro . A . W . Hall , jun ., Organist of the lodge , on the occasion of his recent marriage . The W . M . informed Bro . Hall that several members of the lodge , being desirous of showing their appreciation of his valuable services , considered this a fitting opportunity , and on their behalf he begged his acceptance of this token of their goodwill and

affection , and of their hearty congratulations on the auspicious occasion . He wished him and his wife every health and happiness in their married life , and hoped the clock would prove usefel in reminding Mrs . Hall of the time when her husband should start off to the lodge meetings , and also testify to her the early hour of his return home . Bro . Hall , in reply , said he had no idea that such a pleasing surprise was bein ?

prepared for him , and that , therefore , he was not prepared to thank the brethren as he would wish for such a gratifying testimony of their good feeling towards him , which he would always cherish . The valuable and acceptable present would always be prized by him and his wife , and he would endeavour to show in the future , as he had done in the past , his sincere regard for the Victorian Lodge and its members , with whom he hoped to be associated for many years to come .

Isle of Axholme Lodge , No . 1482 . The monthly ( netting of this lodge was held on Thursday , the 25 th ult ., at the Masonic Rooms , Crowle , Lincolnshire , when there were present Bros . T . Bro . R . G . Wood was passed to the Second Degree by the W . M ., Bro . Cundall giving the charge , and Bro . Constable the working tools . The brethren afterwards partook of supper in the Club Room .

Royal Warrant Holders Lodge , No . 2789 . INSTALLATION OF BRO . THOMAS BLEWETT TIPTON , P . M . 2550 . The annual installation meeting of the above lodge was held at the Cafe Royal , on the evening of the 24 th ult ., when there was a very large attendance of members and visitors . The lodge having been opened , and routine business transacted , it was decided to defer the consideration of the notice of motion concerning the alteration of the place ot meeting . A notice of motion was confirmed with respect to the entrance fees ; and a

resolution , proposed by Bro . Stillwell , P . G . S ., W . M ., and seconded by Bro . Daniel Mayer , P . G . D ., l . P . M ., was passed whereby the sum of 10 guineas was subscribed out of the lodge funds to constitute the lodge a Life Governor of "Our Brother ' s Bed " in the Free Home for the Dving , at Clapham Common . Bro . Thomas Blewett Tipton , P . M . 2250 , was then installed in the chair of K . S ., the ceremony of installation being admirably carried out by Bro . E . G . Stillwell , P . G . S . The newly-installed Master appointed and invested the following officers for the ensuing year : Bros . E . W . Stillwell , P . G . S ., I . P . M . ; Wil'iam Charles Wise , S . The lodge having been closed , the brethren adjourned to the banquet , at the conclusion of which the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were proposed and duly honoured . Bro . Rev . Canon Brownrigg responded on behalf of " The Grand Officers . " Bro . Stillwell , I . P . M ., proposed "The Health of the W . M ., " around whom their hopss clustered forthat year , and expressed the opinion that the newly-instilled W . M . would fill the position as ably as any of his predecessors .

Bro . Tipton , W . M ., in reply , expressed the hope that he would succeed in deserving the kind terms that had been applied to him . He was proud of the position he had attained , and should take great interest in the fulfilment of its duties , and felt surethat all the members would rally round him . The remaining toasts included those of " The Installing Master and Past Misters , " "The Visitors , " "The Treasurer and Secretary" "The Officers of the Lodge" and

, , the Tyler ' s toast . An exceptionally good programme of music was rendered during the intervals between the toasts , in which Madame Emily Squire , Miss Helen Pettican , Messrs . Frank Boor , Mervyn Dene , Frederick Upton Clarke , and Earle took part . Mr . Mervyn Dene was the accompanist , the musical arrangements being under the direction of Bro . George Ashton .

Bro . J . VV . Martin , P . A . G . D . of C . Eng ., Prov . G . Sec , responded , who , after returning thanks on behalf of the Grand Officers , took the opportunity of refeninjto the losses sustained by the Province of Berkshire during the current year hi the deaths of the Prov . G . M ., Lord Wantage ; the Prov . G . Chap ., Bro . Rev . E . R . Adams ; anl the Prov . G . Treas ., Bro . C . Stephens , who had held that office since Berkshire became an independent province in 1 S 90 , he having previously occupied the same position in the united Province of Berks and Bucks for an uninterrupted period of 12 years . on to give some interesting information as to the progress of the province and its high position as regards its suppcrt to the three Masonic Charities year after year . The next toast , "The Dep . Prov . G . Master in Charge , W . Bro . J . Thornhill Morland , M . A ., P . G . D . Eng . ; and the rest of the Grand Officers of the Province of Berkshire , Present and Past , " was proposed by the W . M ., who spoke in high terms of their merits and , as Bro . Margrett , Secretary of the Provincial Charity Committee , was about to leave , he incorporated wilh it the toast of " The Masonic Charities , " an 1

asked him to respond , which he did in an able and lucid manner , alluding to the healthy condition of the province , especially in relation to its voting powers , and appealing to the brethren for support at the next elections , when there will be , in Berkshire , one case for the Boys' School and two cases for the Benevolent Institution . The toast of "The Worshipful Master" was proposed by Bro . VV . A . Cocks , I . P . M ., who testified to Bro . Reed ' s exceptional Masonic experience and ability , as well as to the high estimation in which he is held generally , and he wished him every success

during his year of office . 'Ihe W . M ., who was greeted with the fullest cordiality , in a very able response thanked Ihe brethren for such an evidence of their goodwill towards him and for the honour conferred upon him that day , and stated that his aim would be to maintain the dignity of the Victoiia Lodge during the time he occupied the W . M . 's chair , which he was so proud to do . The toast of "The Visitors" was proposed by the VV . M ., who expressed his pleasure at seeing such a large number of visitors present , offered them a cordial welrcrre on bthalf of Ihe lodge , was responded to in a happy and genial way by Bros .

D . N . Heron , W . M . uoi , P . G . S . of W . ; W . Birch , l . P . M . 2421 , P . P . G . S . of W . Bucks ; and Capt . G . Harper , W . M . iGi 2 , P . P . G . D . C . Middx . In pioposing the toast of " The Installing Master , Bro . W . A . Cocks , l . P . M ., and the cthtr Past Masters of the Victoria Lodge , the W . M . spoke in eulogistic terms of Bro . Cicks , chaiacterising . him as a Mason of high degree , and paying a special compliment to Ihe ability he had shown in his performance of the whole of the installation rfremony . He also made a flattering allusion to the services of the other Past Masters .

The toast was responded to by Bros . Cocks , Prince , and Broquet . The toast of " The VVoishiplul Master and Brethren of the Etonian Lodge , No . 209 , and the Worshipful Master and Brethren of the Windsor Castle Lodge , No . 771 , " ptesentedby the VV . M ., was cordially responded to by Bros . W . E . Allaway , W . M . 209 , and Rev . F . F . Penruddock , W . M . 771 , P . P . G . Chap ., both of whom signified their recipiocation of the friendly and fraternal feeling expressed towards the other two

Windsor lodges , which they represented . After the toast of "Ihe Officers of the Lodge , " submitted by the W . M ., and responded to by the two Wardens , Bros . Marshall , P . P . G . Std . Br ., and A . A . Hardy , P . M . 382 and 2163 , who assured the W . M . that he might rely on the full support of themselves and their colleagues . The Tjlei ' s toast brought a most pleasant evening to a close .

One inteiestipg feature in the evening ' s proceedings was the presentation of a handsome marble clock to Bro . A . W . Hall , jun ., Organist of the lodge , on the occasion of his recent marriage . The W . M . informed Bro . Hall that several members of the lodge , being desirous of showing their appreciation of his valuable services , considered this a fitting opportunity , and on their behalf he begged his acceptance of this token of their goodwill and

affection , and of their hearty congratulations on the auspicious occasion . He wished him and his wife every health and happiness in their married life , and hoped the clock would prove usefel in reminding Mrs . Hall of the time when her husband should start off to the lodge meetings , and also testify to her the early hour of his return home . Bro . Hall , in reply , said he had no idea that such a pleasing surprise was bein ?

prepared for him , and that , therefore , he was not prepared to thank the brethren as he would wish for such a gratifying testimony of their good feeling towards him , which he would always cherish . The valuable and acceptable present would always be prized by him and his wife , and he would endeavour to show in the future , as he had done in the past , his sincere regard for the Victorian Lodge and its members , with whom he hoped to be associated for many years to come .

Isle of Axholme Lodge , No . 1482 . The monthly ( netting of this lodge was held on Thursday , the 25 th ult ., at the Masonic Rooms , Crowle , Lincolnshire , when there were present Bros . T . Staniforth , W . M . ; A . W . Cundall , I . P . M . ; J . Franks , S . W . ; J . Constable , acting J . W . and Chap . ; R . Wood , acting Sec . j C F . Cranidee , S . D . ; J . Turner , J . D . ; W . Alexander , l . G . ; G . Naylor , Tyler ; and others . Bro . T . J . Smith , W . M . 2259 , was a visitor .

Bro . R . G . Wood was passed to the Second Degree by the W . M ., Bro . Cundall giving the charge , and Bro . Constable the working tools . The brethren afterwards partook of supper in the Club Room .

Royal Warrant Holders Lodge , No . 2789 . INSTALLATION OF BRO . THOMAS BLEWETT TIPTON , P . M . 2550 . The annual installation meeting of the above lodge was held at the Cafe Royal , on the evening of the 24 th ult ., when there was a very large attendance of members and visitors . The lodge having been opened , and routine business transacted , it was decided to defer the consideration of the notice of motion concerning the alteration of the place ot meeting . A notice of motion was confirmed with respect to the entrance fees ; and a

resolution , proposed by Bro . Stillwell , P . G . S ., W . M ., and seconded by Bro . Daniel Mayer , P . G . D ., l . P . M ., was passed whereby the sum of 10 guineas was subscribed out of the lodge funds to constitute the lodge a Life Governor of "Our Brother ' s Bed " in the Free Home for the Dving , at Clapham Common . Bro . Thomas Blewett Tipton , P . M . 2250 , was then installed in the chair of K . S ., the ceremony of installation being admirably carried out by Bro . E . G . Stillwell , P . G . S . The newly-installed Master appointed and invested the following officers for the ensuing year : Bros . E . W . Stillwell , P . G . S ., I . P . M . ; Wil'iam Charles Wise , S . The lodge having been closed , the brethren adjourned to the banquet , at the conclusion of which the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were proposed and duly honoured . Bro . Rev . Canon Brownrigg responded on behalf of " The Grand Officers . " Bro . Stillwell , I . P . M ., proposed "The Health of the W . M ., " around whom their hopss clustered forthat year , and expressed the opinion that the newly-instilled W . M . would fill the position as ably as any of his predecessors .

Bro . Tipton , W . M ., in reply , expressed the hope that he would succeed in deserving the kind terms that had been applied to him . He was proud of the position he had attained , and should take great interest in the fulfilment of its duties , and felt surethat all the members would rally round him . The remaining toasts included those of " The Installing Master and Past Misters , " "The Visitors , " "The Treasurer and Secretary" "The Officers of the Lodge" and

, , the Tyler ' s toast . An exceptionally good programme of music was rendered during the intervals between the toasts , in which Madame Emily Squire , Miss Helen Pettican , Messrs . Frank Boor , Mervyn Dene , Frederick Upton Clarke , and Earle took part . Mr . Mervyn Dene was the accompanist , the musical arrangements being under the direction of Bro . George Ashton .
