Her spirits , formerly low , have greatly improved ; her capricious appetite has given place to healthy hunger ; her

dull , sick headache has departed , and gradually so man-ellous a change has been effected , that she is altogether a new creature , and again lit for her duties . These Pills may be administered with safety to the most delicate . They never act harshly , nor do they ever induce weakness ; they rightly direct deranged and control excessive action . —ADVT .

We are reminded by Bro . Frank 'I ayler , VV . M . of the John Carpenter Ledge , No . 1997 , that his lodge was consecrated in 1883 , and is composed entirely of Old Scholars from the City of London School , so that we were not strictly accurate in our suggestion last week that the Old Westminsters' Lodge , No . 2 : 233 , which was consecrated a few days since , was the first which had been established exclusively for brethren educated at a particular public school .

We are very sorry to hear that the G . Treasurer , Bro . Richard Eve , met with an accident on Tuesday which has been of sufficient importance to necessitate his keeping to his room at the National Liberal Club , whence he was on the point of returning to Aldershot . On Sunday last he slipped when crossing a street and strained one of the muscles of his leg , and on Tuesday , on leaving Bro .

Zachane s house where he had been dining , he again slipped in descending the stairs , and on his being conveyed to his club in a cab it was found he had snapped one of the tendons near the femoral artery . However , he hopes to be able to leave his room early next week , and in the meantime will be pleased at any of his friends calling and helping him to wile away his time pleasantly .

Bro . H . E . Cousans , P . M . 297 and Prov . J . G . W . Lincolnshire , Sheriff of Lincoln for the current year , was presented on Monday week with an illuminated address of congratulation on his appointment as Sheriff of the city of Lincoln , from the staff of the Lincoln Gazette and Times and the employes in the printing department of the firm .

The address was handsomely engrossed on vellum , and the presentation was made by Mr . G . W . Critch , one of the compositors , who alluded to the harmonious terms that had always prevailed between Bro . Cousans and his subordinates . The gift was suitably acknowledged by our worthy brother .

We are sincerely grieved to hear of the death at Brighton on the iS ' th ult ., of Bro . Dr . J . C . L . Marsh , who had graduated as Doctor of Medicine at the University of Aberdeen , was a member of the Royal College of Physicians of England , and had practised in Nottingham for 23 years . The deceased , who had attained the age of 64 years , while in Nottingham took a very active part in

Freemasonry , and subsequently on his retirement took part with the late Bro . Sir Erasmus Wilson in founding the Erasmus Wilson Lodge , No . 1464 , Greenhithe . He was the founder of the Sanitary Institute of Great Britain , but for the last three years Bro . Dr . Marsh had been in failing health , and though he went to live at Brighton in 18 S 6 he gradually sank and died as stated , the funeral taking place at the Hove Cemetery on the 24 th ult ,

Major-General Sir Redvers Buller will have charge of a department under the Quarter-Master General entrusted with part of the duties lately carried on by the Adjutant General ' s Department , and partly by that of the late Surveyor-General of the Ordnance—Bro . the Hon . Sir Stafford Northcote .

Bro . Baron H . De Worms , M . P ., and the Baroness De Worms were entertained at dinner at Brussels by the King and Queen of the Belgians , the Count and Countess of Flanders , Lord Vivian , the English Minister , and Lady Vivian being among the guests on the occasion . The Baron left for the Hague on Sunday , and , after re-visiting Brussels to attend a Couit ball , on Wednesday proceeded to Berlin .

We made our annual pilgrimage to the Standard in Bishopsgate-streetto witness Bro . Douglass' pantomime , which we found boiling over with topical allusions , vented forth by popular Ienny Lee ( Jo ) , who nightly slays the giant . Bro . Douglass—who , by the way , is the Master of the Strand Lodge , and P . M . of the Royal Savoy—will , we

hope , revive some of his recent successes in the drama . " A Dark Secret , " originally produced at the Standard , has , in America , taken on to such an extent that its receipts beat everything on reccrd ; even Bro . Irving has to bow to this . " The Silver Wedding , " another of Bro . Douglass' dramas , in collaboration with Bro . James Willing , ought to be brought before the public again .

HULLOWAV ' PILLS . —Inva'ids distracted by indigestion and discouraged in their search fur its remedy should make trial of this never failing medicine . A lady , long a martyr to dyspeptic tortures , writes that Holloway's Pills made her feel as if a burden had been taken off her .

—ADVT .

It is understood that the Court will move from Osborne to Windsor Castle about the 14 th instant , and that her Majesty will visit the Metropolis on the 23 rd , and remain till Saturday , the 25 th instant . Next month , it is believed , the Queen will visit the Riviera . A MUNIFICENT GIFT . —Mr . T . Dyer Edwardes has given a donaticn of Xiooo towards the reduction of

The first batch of allotments of the 1000 £ 6 per cent . Mortgage Debentures of £ 100 each , which the Directors of the Cheadle Railway , Mineral , and Land Company ( Limited ) , are in course of issuing , have been sent out already ; and as the Bill for the construciion of the railway has satisfied the Standing Orders of Parliament , it is expected that the Contractors will commence their operations next week .

We are pleased to hear that Geo . Other successes in the same class during the past year have been as follows : G . Berridge , A . Marshall , G . Spencer , F . Lemmon , and F . Partridge , each a "Mitchell" Scholarship , tenable at Cowper-street Schools . W . Andrews also gained a prize of £ 5 from Dame Ann Bacon's Charity .

Marsh , who had graduated as Doctor of Medicine at the University of Aberdeen , was a member of the Royal College of Physicians of England , and had practised in Nottingham for 23 years . Freemasonry , and subsequently on his retirement took part with the late Bro . Sir Erasmus Wilson in founding the Erasmus Wilson Lodge , No . 1464 , Greenhithe .
