Bro . Alderman Alliston , in reply , said : I am deeply sensible of the great compliment you have done me in associating my name with the toast of the visitors , but I feet there are reasons I ought not have been called upon—firstly , after listening to the beautiful ritual so ably rendered by your I . P . M . I feel my heart so full I am utterly unable to do justice to it . Secondly , when I consider that my feet have trod for 50 years within a few yards of this spot , t see around me nothing but friend ? , therefore I do not feel a visitor , but I feel the Masonic impressions and thank you deeply tor the great treat inside the lodge and your courteous reception and unbounded [ hospitality at this board . Bros . Kemm and Brooke-Hitching also suitably responded .
The VVorshipful Master next presented the toast of " The Past Masters , " ami included " The Treasurer and Secretary , " he said the lodge was almost a lodge of Past Masters and they depended upon them for advice and they always received it in ths kindest manner ; he coupled the names of Bros . Anderton , P . M ., White , 'Treas ., and George Briggs , P . M . of 1572 ; who had done much kindly work for them in the past , and who , that evening , had acted as Deputy Secretary in the unavoidable absence of Bro . George Kenning , P . M . and Sec , and on behalf of the lodge he sincerely thanked them .
Bro . Samuel VVhite , P . M ., Treas ., replied that it was quite a pleasure to be their Treasurer . Business sometimes caused him sleepless nights , but certainly the Treasurership of the Aldersgate Lodge had never done so . He must say he deeply missed from his side his old colleague . Bro . George Kenning having been so many years side by side at those meetings he felt it much . Bro . Anderton replied for the Past Masters , and said it was always a pleasure to assist the younger members , because they appreciated it ; and he could say for himself , and he was sure for all the other Past Masters , that they would always advise and assist them in every way in their power .
Bro . George Briggs , 1572 , on being called upon , said really as a Past Master of the Aldersgate Lodge he had no locus standi , but as the VV . M . had included his name , he knew his duty too well , as an old Mason , and obeyed . Their Treasurer , Bro . VVhite , had just reminded him that it was now nearly 20 years since he first did work for the Aldersgate Lodge—that must have been nearly at its birth—at any rate , he was always glad to do all he could whenever they asked him to further the work in any capacity , for to impart pure Masonic knowledge to the brethren was not only a duty , but a pleasure . He was deeply grieved at the necessity they had to seek his services that night , and could only wish his dear old friend and their dear Secretary—Bro . G : orge Ksnning—might be soon restored to take his place once again among them .
Bro . S . Croft , P . M ., proposed " The Ollicers , which was duly responded to by Bros . Smyth , S . W ., and Hudson , P . M ., S . D . The Tyler ' s toast closed a most happy and enjoyable evening . An excellent programme of music was ably rendered by the following artistes : Miss Gertrude Snow , Miss Florence Venning , Bro . Arthur Weston , and Bro . 'iarry Lindon , under the direction of Bro . Arthur Weston . Bro . G . F . Smith , CO ., presided at the piano .

The minutes of a special lodge , held on the 5 th ult ., in re removal of lodge to the Crown and Greyhound , Dulwich , were approved and the proposition then made was
confirmed . A ballot was taken for Messrs . C . L . Lechmere and A . Browne , which resulted in their favour , and they were regularly admitted into the Order . Bro . G . VV . Capel , F . R . G . S ., S . VV ., was then presented to the W . M . for the purpose of being installed , Bro . Axford performing the ceremony with his usual ability . Bro . Capel appointed and invested his officers for the ensuing year as follows : Bros . J . Joel , S . W . ; VV . 11 . Stone , J . VV . ; A ! E . Wood , M . A . ( absent ) , Chap . ; VV . J . Songhurst , P . M ., Treas . ; John Read , P . M ., Sec . ; T . Compton Stanley , VV . M . 435 ( absent ) , S . D . ; E . J . VV . Scott , J . D . ; Baron Von Reiffenstein , D . C .-. E . J . Austin , Org . ;
J . F . Henley ( absent ) , I . G . ; R . Omash and W . G . Mars , Stewards ; and F . G . Mitchell , Tyler . A handsome Past Master ' s jewel was presented to Bro . C . J . Axford , by the newly-installed Wor . Master , who said it was a very pleasing duty to present to Bro . Axford , in the name of the lodge , the jewel , suitably inscribed , as a mark of high appreciation of excellent work during the period in which he was Master , and he trusted Bro . Axford might be with them wearing the jewel for many years to come . Alter Bro . Axford had feelingly acknowledged the gift , letters of regret for inability to attend the meeting were received from the Grand Secretary , the Asst . Grand Secretary , Bros . Bywater , P . G . S . B ., Horace Brooks Marshall , Ellinger , Millbourn , Recknell ,
and others . Great sympathy was expressed for Bro . Henley , absent on account of illness . Lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to banquet , presided over by the VV . Master . After the usual loyal and Masonic toasts , The VV . M . proposed " The M . W . the Pro G . M ., the Earl of Lathom ; the R . W . the Deputy G . M ., Earl Amherst ; and the rest of the Grand Ollicers , Present and Past , " remarking that the splendid manner in which they fulfilled their important duties not only merited their indebtedness , but accounted for the prosperity ot the Order .
Bro . Henry Lovegrove , P . G . S . B . —whose name was coupled with the toastresponded . "The Health of the W . M . " was proposed by the I . P . M . In reply , Bro . Capel said : Brethren , —For the warmth and cordiality with which you have received the toast of my health , allow me to return you my sincere and heartfelt thanks ; ar . d I beg to express to you my deep gratitude for the high honour you have done me by placing me in the position of W . M . I can assure you that I shall most earnestly endeavour to carry out my duties with satisfaction to every brother , and to the credit and interest of the lodge .
The VV . M . then proposed '' The Health of the LP . M ., " who he said had daservedly gained the high esteem of all by his genial manner , skilful work , and devotion to the best interests of the lodge . The VV . M . then said : I now submit to you " The Initiates . " It is a toast always welcome to the lodge . We have this evening two initiates , and I feel sure that theyare worthy gentlemen , and that they will prove a good acquisition to Freemasonry in general and the Alleyn Lod ^ ein paiticular . We give them a very hearty welcome , and should like both to respond to the toast .
'I he VVorshipful Master said it is now my pleasing duty to propose the toast of "The Visitors . " We are highly delighted to have plenty of guests at our meetings as we wish the Alleyne Lodge to obtain a high reputation for hospitality . VVe arc favoured this evening with the presence of many visitors and we welcome them most heartily , and sincerely hope they will come again . I associate with this toast the names of Bros . Barnes , P . M . and Sec . 19 ; 11 ooper , P . G . T . Mid . lx . ;
Phillips , P . M . 15 S 0 ; Home , P . M . 227 ; and Croker , P . AI . 190 ; who all replied . Brethren , ! now have the pleasure to submit to you the toas : of "The Treasurer and Secretary . " We arc , indeed , fortunate in having as Treasurer and Secretary such worthy and experienced Past Masters as Bros . Songhurst and Read . They are both well-known and greatly respected by all of us ; and I am sure that no words of mine are necessary to make the tonst of their health highly acceptable to y . m .
After tiros . Songhurst and Read had responded , "The Ollicers" and the Tyler ' s toasts brought to a close a most pleasant evening . The pleasure of the proceedings during banquet were considerably enhanced by an orchestral performance of selected music under the direction and conductorship of Bro . John Read , P . M ., P . P . G . Org . Middx ., Sec . of the lodge . After the banquet some songs by friends and relatives of Bro . Scott lent additional attraction . The portrait of thc VV . M . will appear next week .

Bro . G . F . Smith , CO ., presided at the piano .

confirmed . A ballot was taken for Messrs . C . L . Lechmere and A . Browne , which resulted in their favour , and they were regularly admitted into the Order . Bro . G . VV . Capel , F . R . G . S ., S . VV ., was then presented to the W . M . for the purpose of being installed , Bro . Axford performing the ceremony with his usual ability . Bro .
'I he VVorshipful Master said it is now my pleasing duty to propose the toast of "The Visitors . " We are highly delighted to have plenty of guests at our meetings as we wish the Alleyne Lodge to obtain a high reputation for hospitality . VVe arc favoured this evening with the presence of many visitors and we welcome them most heartily , and sincerely hope they will come again . I associate with this toast the names of Bros . Barnes , P . M . and Sec . 19 ; 11 ooper , P . G . T . Mid . lx . ;
