FAITH LODGE ( No . 141 ) . —This lotlge met at Anderton's Hotel , Fleet-street , on the 24 th ult . Among those present were Bros . Fromholtz , W . M . ; Coop , S . VV . ; Hudson , J . VV . ; Carter , P . M ., Treas . . W . Stuart , P . M ., Sec . ; Hakim . S . D . ; Steng , J . D . ; Johnson , W . S . ; Weisler , A . D . C . ; Charles Dairy , P . M . ; T . C . Walls , P . P . G . S . B . Middx ., P . M . ; and Jordan , P . M . Among the visitors were Bros . F . Walters , P . P . G . D . Middx ., and

Snook , 1 C 04 . The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed , Bro . Chamley was raised . The ballot was then taken on behalf of Mr . Chevalier , and it proving to be unanimous , he was duly initiatetl into Craft mysteries . A vote of thanks was unanimously passed to Bro . F .

Walters , P . M ., & c , for his valuable services in connf-ction with the successful election of a daughter of a deceased member of No . 141 to the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls . The lodge was then closed , and thc brethren adjourned to refreshment . The usual toasts followed .

SKELMERSDALE LODGE ( No . 1658 ) . —A meeting of this flourishing and prosperous lodge was held on Thursday , the 26 th ult ., at the Surrey Masonic Hall . There were present Bros . John Darwin Smith , VV . M . ; J . Hill , S . VV . ; Buckeridge , acting J . W . ( owing to the absence of Bro . W . J . Richardson , caused by a sudden death in his family ); G . I Earney , P . M ., Treas . ; A . Storr , P . M ., Sec . ;

C C . Gibby , S . D . ; R . Rowlands , acting J . D . ; P .. Shrimpton and E . A . Francis , D . C . ; H . Cohen , l . G . ; R . Walden and E . A . Norman , Stwds . ; VV . Boys , P . M . ; J . The lodge was opened in due form , and the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed . The ballot was taken for Bro . C . Pigeon , of St . John ' s Lodge , No . 4 S-, Calcutta , as a joining member—it was declared unanimous

in his favour ; also for Mr . VV . J . J . S . Barringer as a candidate for initiation—it was likewise unanimous . The lodge was opened in the Second Degree , and Bro . E . M . Gibson answered the questions belonging to the Third Degree , and was entrusted . The lodge opened in the Third Degree , and Bro . E . M . Gibson was raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason . The lodge was closed in the Third Degree ,

and resumed to the First , when Bros . J . George , A . O . Side , E . D . Side , and M . Syers gave their proofs of proficiency in the First , and were entrusted . The lodge being resumed to the Second Degree , those brethren were admitted and passed to the Degree of Fellow Craft . The lodge was resumed to the First Degree , and Mr . Barringer was admitted and initiated into Freemasonry according to

ancient custom . Bro . Bygrave , upon the second rising , proposed Mr . F . A . Whitlock as a candidate for initiation —seconded by Bro . J . George . The lodge was closed , and the brethren retired to a substantial refreshment , provided by Bro . G . Venables . The toasts of " The Oueen , " " The Prince of Wales , as M . W . G . M ., " and "Tne Pro G . M ., the D . G . M ., and

Grand Ofiicers " were proposed . In each case the W . M . spoke words of a highly complimentary character , which the brethren fully endorsed . The toasts of "The W . M . " and "The Initiate * ' were drunk , and responded to in a very pleasing manner . The Worshipful Master then proceeded to that of " The Visitors , " who in turn responded , speaking highly of the

working of the VV . M . and officers and the cheer offered and given to them . The toast of "The Treasurer and Secretary " was next proposed . The Treasurer spoke in great praise of Bro . J . Hill , S . W ., who had been acting Secretary for Bro . A . Storr , P . M . He had rendered the most effective service to him and the lodge in every way , and in every case the lodge

had secured a most efficient member in him . The brethren signified their cordial assent to every word by cheers . Bro . Hill then responded , saying that he did every thing as a work of pleasure and love for the Craft and the lodge . He would render any one of them such services as lay within his power , and " thanked them for their kind

expressions and trust in him . He recommended the brethren to attend lodges of instruction and make themselves perfect in all the work , so that lhey might feel comfortable on entering a lodge , or if called upon to do any work , should the proper ollicer be unavoidably absent . The toasts of "The Past Masters " and " The Officers " being given and responded to , the Tyler was called upon , and the evening closed , every one having spent a pleasant

time . The musical part of the evening was fully sustained by Broj . VV . Boys , J . Hill , R . Rowlands , P . Cohen , S . Mackway , and A . B . Norman . The recitations of Bro . H . Cohen and A . Town were enthusiastically received .

SHADWELL CLERKE LODGE ( No . 1910 ) . —The annual meeting of this lodge was held at the Masonic Hall , Sa , Red Lion-square , on Friday , the 20 th ult . Bro . E . Kendall , VV . M ., presided , and among the officers , members , and visitors present were Bros . F . R . Kendall , S . W . ; J . L . Mather , Treas . ; C . F . Matier , Sec ; C . Belton , P . M . ; C . H . Driver , P . M . ; h . M .

Lott , G . Org . ; R . Ellis , C . Trebeck , Col . Shadwell H . Clerke , G . Sec . ; T . H . Wye , Col . A . W . O . Saunders , P . D . G . M . Madras ; C . M . Gray , F . Richardson , P . G . Congratulations having been passed to the new Master , and the rest of the business disposed of , the lodge was closed , and the brethren made a move ior the Holborn Restaurant , where the banquet was held under the presidency ol Bro . Mather , W . M . Later on , the usual toast list was honoured , the applause which greeted the toasts of the G . Officers , the VV . M ., the I . P . M ., the Visitors , and the Institutions being very hearty .

SAINT MARY ABBOTTS LODGE ( No . 1974 ) . —A regular meeting of this lodge was held on the 20 th ult ., for the purpose of electing a Master for the ensuing year , and for other more private lodge business . Unfortunately , the Parliamentary elections for the borough took place on the same day , and many of the lodge members were unavoidably absent . Bro . Alfred Williams ,

VV . M ., presided . VV . Bro . Captain Nicols , P . M ., acted as I . P . M . in the absence of VV . Bro . Captain Compton . There were present also VV . Bros . James Green , Treas . ; the Rev . C . Darby Reade , Dr . David S . Skinner , Alfred J . Pritchard , Bros . Sidney Pitt , Captain Andrews , R . C . Halse , H . Rockingham Gill , E . C . Engelbach , A . C . Bauke , VV . Beavis , and T . and confirmed , a ballot was taken for W . M . for the ensu - ing year , which proved in favour of the Senior Warden , Bro . Reuben Charles Green . W . Bro . James Green was re-elected Treasurer for the fourth year in succession . Bro . " Captain Andrews expressed his regret that the banner which he intended to present to the lodge that

evening was not quite ready , but would be so in a few days . The Treasurer then proposed that a meeting of emergency be called for Thursday , 10 th December , for the purpose of receiving Bro . Capt . I-I . S . Andrews' much appreciated gift . This was unanimously carried , and the

VV . M . appointed the hour of six p . m . for the meeting of the lodge and presentation of the banner , and seven o ' clock for thebanquet at Bayley Hotel , South Kensington . The lodge was then closed . Many guests have been invited and are expected to attend this interesting presentation .

ARUNDEL . —Howard Lodge of Brotherly Love ( No . 56 ) . —On Thursday , the 19 th ult ., Bro . Edward Collings was installed VV . M . of this lodge ; Bro . T . U . Price was the Installing Master . The newly-installed VV . M . appointed his officers as follows : Bros . C . Burnell , SAV . ; Dr . Paxton , j . W . ; G . Ever-Vied , P . M ., Sec ; A . E . Garwood ( C . E . I , S . D . ; Longman , J . D . ; C .

Chamberlain , P . M ., I . G . Bro . Robertson was re elected Tyler , and was also invested with his collar by the W . M . Bro . T . Suter was re-elected Charity Steward . The lodge unanimously resolved to present Bro . H . W . Mardon , the retiring VV . M ., with a Past Master's jewel , and considerable regret was expressed at Bro . Mardon's absence oil this occasion , owing to important business duties , and also at his loss to the lodge owing to his removal to

Bishop's Stortford , while the brethren expressed their high appreciation of the manner in which he had ruled the lodge during his year of oflice . The banquet took place at the Norfolk Hotel subsequently , when Bro . Barkshirc provided a sumptuous repast . Several visiting brethren were present , including Bro . V . P . Freeman , Prov . Grand Secretary .

DEVONPORT . —Friendship Lodge ( No . 202 ) . — The annual meeting of Lodge Friendship took place on Thursday evening , the 26 th ult ., when Bro . J . F . Burns was elected VV . M . for the ensuing year , and Bro . H . Welch , P . M ., re-elected Treasurer , having most ably filled that oflice for many years past . Lodge Friendship is about the

largest lodge in the province , numbering about 140 members . There were present , beside the usual brethren of the lodge , Bros . S . lew , P . M . ; Foxwell , P . M . ; Heath , P . M . ; and several other visitors , including Bro . Sylvester , of the United Service Lodge , Portsmouth . _ An enjoyable evening was srjent , Bro . Sylvester rendering some higUclass music , which was much appreciated .

CHERTSEY . —St . George ' s Lodge ( No . 370 ) . — A meeting of this lodge was held on Thursday , the 27 th August . Present : Bros . R . Burns , W . M . ; H . C . Leigh Bennett , as S . VV . ; Col . Dundas , J . W . ; Jam's R . Boor , P . M . and Secretary ; A . D . Mackay , I . P . M . ; G . B . Smallpiece , P . M . ; G . M . S . O'Callaghan , S . D . ; Bros . Edward S . Prior , J . D . ; Chas . H . Broad , D . C ; VV . Bros .

410 , and Past G . Supt . of Works Surrey . The lodge was opened in due and ancient form , and with solemn prayer . After the working of the lodge was completed , Wor . Bro . Major Verney , P . M ., then proposed , and the VV . M . seconded , a vote of congratulation to Wor . Bro . Dr . Harcourt , P . M ., the founder of the lodge , expressing the deep pleasure the brethren experienced by his

reappearance in the lodge after an absence of eight years , and trusting he might be able to visit them more often in the future , as his presence would at all times be gratifying to the feelings of the brethren . Wor . Bro . Harcourt addressed the lodge , thanking the brethren for their cordial welcome , congratulating them on being located in such a commodious building , and giving a

few early recollections of the resuscitation 01 the lodge in the year 1 S 38 . General acclamation was then accorded to the Wor . brother the founder of the lodge . B y the express desire of the W . M ., Bro . Dr . Harcourt , P . M ., then took the chair , when a very pleasing and interesting incident occurred , being no less lhan the presentation of a very handsome loving cup to Bro . James R .

Boor , P . M . and Secretary of the Lodge , in acknowledgment of the services rendered to the lodge as Secretary thereof for ten years in succession . Bro . Harcourt , P . M ., requested Bro . Verney , P . M ., to assume the duties of Secretary , and Bro . Boor was escorted to a place opposite the chair of K . S ., when he was addressed by Bro . Harcourt in the following terms : Bro . Boor , I do not know how

many years it is since you and I first met in lodge , but I believe it was in the year 1 S 6 S . You have been a true and faithful member of the lodge , and a most useful member . The duties of Secretary are in a lodge of the most important character , and these duties you have faithfully carried out for I do not know how many years ; these important services have not been forgotten by your brethren ,

and 1 was much gratified to hear that they were to be recognised in the present they now offer for your acceptance . I have no doubt you will feel as much pleasure in receiving it as they do in giving it to you . I know this is the feeling of eveiy member of the lodge , and I am sure it will be gratifying to you to receive such a handsome present , therefoie , in the name of the lodge , presentto you this cup , and I trust you may be spared many years to enjoy its use ,

and may it assist you in promoting that hospitality which is the just attribute of every true brother , and may those who come after you recognise in it the value which was placed on your services by your brethren of Lodge 370 . Bro . Boor then replied as follows : VVorshiptul Master and brethren of thn lodge—I cannot sit down without returning you my very hearty thanks for your very kind and gracious present to me . I am very proud , Worshipful Sir , that you preside in the chair of King Solomon to present this loving cup to me on thc part of the brethren of thc

Chevalier , and it proving to be unanimous , he was duly initiatetl into Craft mysteries . A vote of thanks was unanimously passed to Bro . F .

Walters , P . M ., & c , for his valuable services in connf-ction with the successful election of a daughter of a deceased member of No . 141 to the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls . The lodge was then closed , and thc brethren adjourned to refreshment . The usual toasts followed .

The lodge was opened in due form , and the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed . The ballot was taken for Bro . C . Pigeon , of St . John ' s Lodge , No . 4 S-, Calcutta , as a joining member—it was declared unanimous

in his favour ; also for Mr . VV . J . J . S . Barringer as a candidate for initiation—it was likewise unanimous . The lodge was opened in the Second Degree , and Bro . E . M . Gibson answered the questions belonging to the Third Degree , and was entrusted . The lodge opened in the Third Degree , and Bro . E . M . Gibson was raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason . The lodge was closed in the Third Degree ,

and resumed to the First , when Bros . J . George , A . O . Side , E . D . Side , and M . Syers gave their proofs of proficiency in the First , and were entrusted . The lodge being resumed to the Second Degree , those brethren were admitted and passed to the Degree of Fellow Craft . The lodge was resumed to the First Degree , and Mr . Barringer was admitted and initiated into Freemasonry according to

ancient custom . Bro . Bygrave , upon the second rising , proposed Mr . F . A . Whitlock as a candidate for initiation —seconded by Bro . J . George . The lodge was closed , and the brethren retired to a substantial refreshment , provided by Bro . G . Venables . The toasts of " The Oueen , " " The Prince of Wales , as M . W . G . M ., " and "Tne Pro G . M ., the D . G . M ., and

Grand Ofiicers " were proposed . In each case the W . M . spoke words of a highly complimentary character , which the brethren fully endorsed . The toasts of "The W . M . " and "The Initiate * ' were drunk , and responded to in a very pleasing manner . The Worshipful Master then proceeded to that of " The Visitors , " who in turn responded , speaking highly of the

working of the VV . M . and officers and the cheer offered and given to them . The toast of "The Treasurer and Secretary " was next proposed . The Treasurer spoke in great praise of Bro . J . Hill , S . W ., who had been acting Secretary for Bro . A . Storr , P . M . He had rendered the most effective service to him and the lodge in every way , and in every case the lodge

had secured a most efficient member in him . The brethren signified their cordial assent to every word by cheers . Bro . Hill then responded , saying that he did every thing as a work of pleasure and love for the Craft and the lodge . He would render any one of them such services as lay within his power , and " thanked them for their kind

expressions and trust in him . He recommended the brethren to attend lodges of instruction and make themselves perfect in all the work , so that lhey might feel comfortable on entering a lodge , or if called upon to do any work , should the proper ollicer be unavoidably absent . The toasts of "The Past Masters " and " The Officers " being given and responded to , the Tyler was called upon , and the evening closed , every one having spent a pleasant

time . The musical part of the evening was fully sustained by Broj . VV . Boys , J . Hill , R . Rowlands , P . Cohen , S . Mackway , and A . B . Norman . The recitations of Bro . H . Cohen and A . Town were enthusiastically received .

SHADWELL CLERKE LODGE ( No . 1910 ) . —The annual meeting of this lodge was held at the Masonic Hall , Sa , Red Lion-square , on Friday , the 20 th ult . Bro . E . Kendall , VV . M ., presided , and among the officers , members , and visitors present were Bros . F . R . Kendall , S . W . ; J . L . Mather , Treas . ; C . F . Matier , Sec ; C . Belton , P . M . ; C . H . Mather , W . M . Later on , the usual toast list was honoured , the applause which greeted the toasts of the G . Officers , the VV . M ., the I . P . M ., the Visitors , and the Institutions being very hearty .

SAINT MARY ABBOTTS LODGE ( No . 1974 ) . —A regular meeting of this lodge was held on the 20 th ult ., for the purpose of electing a Master for the ensuing year , and for other more private lodge business . Unfortunately , the Parliamentary elections for the borough took place on the same day , and many of the lodge members were unavoidably absent . Bro . Alfred Williams ,

and confirmed , a ballot was taken for W . M . for the ensu - ing year , which proved in favour of the Senior Warden , Bro . Reuben Charles Green . W . Bro . James Green was re-elected Treasurer for the fourth year in succession . Bro . " Captain Andrews expressed his regret that the banner which he intended to present to the lodge that

evening was not quite ready , but would be so in a few days . The Treasurer then proposed that a meeting of emergency be called for Thursday , 10 th December , for the purpose of receiving Bro . Capt . I-I . S . Andrews' much appreciated gift . This was unanimously carried , and the

VV . M . appointed the hour of six p . m . for the meeting of the lodge and presentation of the banner , and seven o ' clock for thebanquet at Bayley Hotel , South Kensington . The lodge was then closed . Many guests have been invited and are expected to attend this interesting presentation .

ARUNDEL . —Howard Lodge of Brotherly Love ( No . 56 ) . —On Thursday , the 19 th ult ., Bro . Edward Collings was installed VV . M . of this lodge ; Bro . T . U . Price was the Installing Master . The newly-installed VV . M . appointed his officers as follows : Bros . C . Burnell , SAV . ; Dr . Paxton , j . W . ; G . Ever-Vied , P . M ., Sec ; A . E . Garwood ( C . E . I , S . D . ; Longman , J . D . ; C .

Chamberlain , P . M ., I . G . Bro . Robertson was re elected Tyler , and was also invested with his collar by the W . M . Bro . T . Suter was re-elected Charity Steward . The lodge unanimously resolved to present Bro . H . W . Mardon , the retiring VV . M ., with a Past Master's jewel , and considerable regret was expressed at Bro . Mardon's absence oil this occasion , owing to important business duties , and also at his loss to the lodge owing to his removal to

Bishop's Stortford , while the brethren expressed their high appreciation of the manner in which he had ruled the lodge during his year of oflice . The banquet took place at the Norfolk Hotel subsequently , when Bro . Barkshirc provided a sumptuous repast . Several visiting brethren were present , including Bro . V . P . Freeman , Prov . Grand Secretary .

DEVONPORT . —Friendship Lodge ( No . 202 ) . — The annual meeting of Lodge Friendship took place on Thursday evening , the 26 th ult ., when Bro . J . F . Burns was elected VV . M . for the ensuing year , and Bro . H . Welch , P . M ., re-elected Treasurer , having most ably filled that oflice for many years past . Lodge Friendship is about the

largest lodge in the province , numbering about 140 members . There were present , beside the usual brethren of the lodge , Bros . S . lew , P . M . ; Foxwell , P . M . ; Heath , P . M . ; and several other visitors , including Bro . Sylvester , of the United Service Lodge , Portsmouth . _ An enjoyable evening was srjent , Bro . Sylvester rendering some higUclass music , which was much appreciated .

CHERTSEY . —St . George ' s Lodge ( No . 370 ) . — A meeting of this lodge was held on Thursday , the 27 th August . Present : Bros . R . Burns , W . M . ; H . C . Leigh Bennett , as S . VV . ; Col . 410 , and Past G . Supt . of Works Surrey . The lodge was opened in due and ancient form , and with solemn prayer . After the working of the lodge was completed , Wor . Bro . Major Verney , P . M ., then proposed , and the VV . M . seconded , a vote of congratulation to Wor . Bro . Dr . Harcourt , P . M ., the founder of the lodge , expressing the deep pleasure the brethren experienced by his

reappearance in the lodge after an absence of eight years , and trusting he might be able to visit them more often in the future , as his presence would at all times be gratifying to the feelings of the brethren . Wor . Bro . Harcourt addressed the lodge , thanking the brethren for their cordial welcome , congratulating them on being located in such a commodious building , and giving a

few early recollections of the resuscitation 01 the lodge in the year 1 S 38 . General acclamation was then accorded to the Wor . brother the founder of the lodge . B y the express desire of the W . M ., Bro . Dr . Harcourt , P . M ., then took the chair , when a very pleasing and interesting incident occurred , being no less lhan the presentation of a very handsome loving cup to Bro . James R .

Boor , P . M . and Secretary of the Lodge , in acknowledgment of the services rendered to the lodge as Secretary thereof for ten years in succession . Bro . Harcourt , P . M ., requested Bro . Verney , P . M ., to assume the duties of Secretary , and Bro . Boor was escorted to a place opposite the chair of K . S ., when he was addressed by Bro . Harcourt in the following terms : Bro . Boor , I do not know how

many years it is since you and I first met in lodge , but I believe it was in the year 1 S 6 S . You have been a true and faithful member of the lodge , and a most useful member . The duties of Secretary are in a lodge of the most important character , and these duties you have faithfully carried out for I do not know how many years ; these important services have not been forgotten by your brethren ,

and 1 was much gratified to hear that they were to be recognised in the present they now offer for your acceptance . I have no doubt you will feel as much pleasure in receiving it as they do in giving it to you . I know this is the feeling of eveiy member of the lodge , and I am sure it will be gratifying to you to receive such a handsome present , therefoie , in the name of the lodge , presentto you this cup , and I trust you may be spared many years to enjoy its use ,

and may it assist you in promoting that hospitality which is the just attribute of every true brother , and may those who come after you recognise in it the value which was placed on your services by your brethren of Lodge 370 .
