The interment took place in Kensal Green Cemetery , where his friends had assembled numbering neatly 300 , to testify the great esteem and respect in which Bro . W . R . —The 134 th anniversary of this ancient lodge was held at the Masonic Hall on Thursday , February ist , at 3 p . m . Such is the period the minutes books of which are still preserved , but there are entries in these records which show that it had a previous existence , as they refer to proceedings of a still earlier date . With one exception , all the officers were present , namely , Bros . Brown , VV . M . ;

in the First Degree , the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed . Bros . Ames and Hclmes were passed to the rank off F . C . The presence of the D . P . G . M . in the ante-room having been announced , several members went out as a deputation , by whom he vvas escorted into the room and led to the dais , being received with the usual honours . The W . M . briefly addressed
the brethren in acknowledgment of the assistance of the officers , and of the courtesy antl kindness he had uniformly received from all during his Mastership . Bro . Else then took the chair , and re-opened the lodge in the Second Degree . Eros . Ashley and Wilson presented Bro . F . Wilkinson as having been elected by the members to fill the first chair during the ensuing year . The charges were
read by the Secretary and assented to , and the obligation of W . M . elect administered . The lodge was then opened in the Third Degree , the offices were declared vacant , and the brethren vho had not passed the chair were dismissed . In their absence , a Board of Installed Masters having been constituted , the ceremony of installation was duly performed . The Master Masons . Fellow Crafts , and Entered
Apprentices were severally admitted , and in each case the customary salutes and proclamations were made . The whole was concluded with the addresses delivered by the D . P . G . M . to the W . The brethren then adjourned to the Castle Hotel , to partake of the annual banquet , for which most complete arrangements had been made by the Stewards , in conjunction with the host , Bro . Ruble , P . M ., and it was a matter of general
congratulation that the whole proceedings of the day had been conducted with unusual efficiency , and to the perfect satisfaction of all concerned . The harmony of the evening was greatly promoted by the vocal performances of Bros . Cater , Falkner , and Willcox , who were accompanied by Bro . Reeves on the piano . waiting , was announced as " a member of this lodge . " The VV . M . said the next business was a source of extreme pleasure to him . In the name of the lodge it was his privilege to place upon the 1 . P . M . ' s breast a massive gold P . M . ' s jewel . The jewel was inscribed , " Lodge of Lights , No . 148 , Warrington . Presented to Bro . W . H . Robinson by the lodge , in acknowledgment ot able services as
W . M . A . L . 5876 . " He would not dilate on Bro . Robinson's merits in his presence , but he must be permitted , as the representative of the members , to say that it vvas many years since the lodge was presided over by so young a brother . He had , moreover , performed all the duties of his office in an able manner , and he assured him his services were very highly appreciated by every member ofthe
lodge . He would not trespass fuither on their time , but " ne should be glad if the Secretary would supplement his remarks with a few words of wisdom . Bro . BJWCS was glad of the opportunity , and addressing Bro . Robinson , . aid : The jewel which the W . M . has just placed on your breast , as a gift from the lodge , is one that you are entitled to wear , having filled the office ol Master of this lodgejduring the past year . This proposition of Euclid ' s Elements is one of the most important discoveries of the learned Bro . Pythagoras , who flourished 333 years B . C ., and , in the joy of his heart , he is said to have exclaimed , " Eureka , 1 have found it , " and
to have sacrificed a hetacomb . As the figure depends upon several lines , angles , and triangles , as shown in the diagram before you , so Freemasonry depends upon its several members , and the principles upon which the institution is established . Some of our brethren from their station in life , standing as they do on the basis of earthly bliss , are emblematical of the great angle which subtends the right
angle ; others , blessed with means to tread the flowery meads of prosperity and affluence , are descriptive of the squares which stand on the sides ; those brethren who enjoy every social comfort , and never exceed the bounds of mediocrity , symbolise the triangle within the square ; and those who have the satisfaction of administering to the wants of the indigent and industrious , may be compared
to the triangle which surrounds and supports the figure ; whilst the lines which form it may remind us of those brethren who are incapable of providing the necessaries of We unless aided by cheerful and ready assistance . May the lessons taught by your beautiful jewel ever influence your actions for good , while treading the thorny path of this life , so that when you are summoned to the Grand
Lodge above you may receive a much more glorious jewel , one which will never fade away . Bro . Robinson made a feeling response , and assured the brethren that when elected W . M . he determined to try to do his duty , and if he had succeeded to their satisfaction he was amply repaid . The beautiful and costly jewel they had given him he should ever treasure with pride . of Emulation was held at the Assembly Rooms of the Bull Hotel , on Tuesday , 30 th ult . Bro . Clifford White was initiated in excellent manner by the W . M ., and after passing Bros . Clark and Penning to another degree , there being no further business , the lodge vvas ( after voting a sum of money to the Aged Freemasons' Institution ) , closed . The brethren present adjourned to , what is an annual
custom or the lodge on the first gathering in every new year , an excellent supper . The usual loyal , patriotic and Masonic toasts were proposed and received enthusiastically ; the names of the M . The committee appointed at the last lodge to consider the advisability of petitioning the Grand Master to elevate Bedfordshire to the dignity of a province , reported against taking
such a step , which report vvas unanimously adopted by the lodge . The VV . M . who had previously refrained from expressing an opinion , then stated his entire concurrence with the resolution . On the motion of Bro . Cuthbert , seconded by Bro . Serjeant , the lodge decided to memorialize Grand Lodge on the recent action taken by the Grand Lodge of Germany , with respect to our Hebrew brethren .

in eulogistic terms , which was received with the utmost applause , and at the same time presented the retiring W . M . with a very handsome P . M . ' s jewel for past services . Bro . R . W . He was only too happy to do all in his power to further the comfort and interest of
the lodge on true Masonic principles . Bro . Easton replied in a very feeling manner , and regretted that circumstances over which he had no control had foiced him to leave , not only this lodge , but the district , but mentioned that as long as he lived , he should always remember Ellesmere

the 47 th proposition of the ist Book of Euclid pendant therefrom , and is intended by the Constitutions of our ancient Order to mark your rank as a Past Master . This proposition of Euclid ' s Elements is one of the most important discoveries of the learned Bro . Pythagoras , who flourished 333 years B . C ., and , in the joy of his heart , he is said to have exclaimed , " Eureka , 1 have found it , " and
to have sacrificed a hetacomb . As the figure depends upon several lines , angles , and triangles , as shown in the diagram before you , so Freemasonry depends upon its several members , and the principles upon which the institution is established . Some of our brethren from their station in life , standing as they do on the basis of earthly bliss , are emblematical of the great angle which subtends the right
angle ; others , blessed with means to tread the flowery meads of prosperity and affluence , are descriptive of the squares which stand on the sides ; those brethren who enjoy every social comfort , and never exceed the bounds of mediocrity , symbolise the triangle within the square ; and those who have the satisfaction of administering to the wants of the indigent and industrious , may be compared
to the triangle which surrounds and supports the figure ; whilst the lines which form it may remind us of those brethren who are incapable of providing the necessaries of We unless aided by cheerful and ready assistance . May the lessons taught by your beautiful jewel ever influence your actions for good , while treading the thorny path of this life , so that when you are summoned to the Grand
Lodge above you may receive a much more glorious jewel , one which will never fade away . Bro . Robinson made a feeling response , and assured the brethren that when elected W . M . he determined to try to do his duty , and if he had succeeded to their satisfaction he was amply repaid . The beautiful and costly jewel they had given him he should ever treasure with pride . The committee appointed at the last lodge to consider the advisability of petitioning the Grand Master to elevate Bedfordshire to the dignity of a province , reported against taking
such a step , which report vvas unanimously adopted by the lodge . The VV . M . who had previously refrained from expressing an opinion , then stated his entire concurrence with the resolution . On the motion of Bro . Cuthbert , seconded by Bro . Serjeant , the lodge decided to memorialize Grand Lodge on the recent action taken by the Grand Lodge of Germany , with respect to our Hebrew brethren .

great benefit and good those charities were doing , and impressed upon the brethren who were not subscribers to assist them by becoming subscribers to such good institutions for training and educating both boys and girls for after life in respectability , and also exhorted them to be liberal in their donations . Bro . Marwood proposed ' The Health of the new VV . M . "
in eulogistic terms , which was received with the utmost applause , and at the same time presented the retiring W . M . with a very handsome P . M . ' s jewel for past services . Bro . R . W . Waes , W . M ., responded , and thanked the brethren for the hearty manner in which his health had been proposed and received . He was only too happy to do all in his power to further the comfort and interest of
the lodge on true Masonic principles . Bro . Easton replied in a very feeling manner , and regretted that circumstances over which he had no control had foiced him to leave , not only this lodge , but the district , but mentioned that as long as he lived , he should always remember Ellesmere
