Way duly initiated into Masonry . The chair was then assumed by Bro . W .

T . farthing , P . M ., who impressively installed Bro . H . R . Schreiber as W . M . for the ensuing year . The following officers were appointed and invested : Bros . J . C . Radford , S . W . ; A . F . R . Ulrich , J . W . ; J . Turk Lacey , Treas . ; H . VV . Davie , I . P . M ., Sec ; F . Schmitz , S . D . ; W . J . Stratton , J . D . ; W . Godson , I . G . } W . T . Farthing , P . M ., D . C ; C . Hurler , Stwd . ; and Thomas , Tyler .

The completion of the installation ceremony was followed by the presentation to Bro . H . VV . Davie , I . P . M ., of a handsome Past Master ' s jewel , the gift being accompanied by a few well-chosen words from the W . M . Other business was transacted , and the lodge was closed . v A choice banquet was served in the large hall , reflecting the greatest credit on the management , and the usual toasts were afterwards honoured .

Bro . J . L . Mather , Past Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies , replying for "The Grand Officers , " expressed his pleasure at being present , and said the position ot a Grand Officer was not altogether a sinecure . They performed their duties to the best of their ability , and , on their behalf , he congratulated the W . M . and also the In ; , stalling Master on the admirable manner in , which the ceremony was performed .

Bro . H . W . Davie , I . P . M ., in giving , " The Health of the VV . M ., " said he was quite sure the brethren had done well in electing Bro . Schreiber to be their W . M ., for he possessed all the genial qualities necessary for the post , and he was a Freemason at heart . What could they desire more ? They were convinced that the W . M . would so conduct the affairs of the lodge as to render it even more prosperous than at present . Bro . H . R . Schreiber , W . M ., in reply , said he was

moved by the kind words of the l . P . M . He could assure them he would try his very best to advance the cause of that lodge and Freemasonry in general , as far as his power and ability would allow . It happened that 20 years ago that day he came to that hospitable shore , and his adopted home was just as dear to him as his native land . He found so many d » ar friends and brethren here that he felt at home . His rule was short speeches , and therefore he should only

again thank them most heartily for the way in which they had received _ his health . "The Initiates" was next proposed by the W . M ., and appropriately responded to . Bro . W . T . Farthing , P . M ., then said that throughout his Masonic career he had often felt it a difficulty , but he had never felt it a greater difficulty than at that moment to give expression to the sentiments he wished to utter . In

the first place he had to propose "The H » alth ofthe 1 . P . M . and Secretary , " which he was sure wo jld be received with hearty acclamation . But he had a larger duty to perform , which he could better begin b y saying that from the commencement of the lodge Bro . Davie haa been associated with it , and had worked hard , indefatigably , and conscientiously in every way in which a Mason should work to make a great success . There was no brother who

had done more for the prosperity of the lodge . Being one of the founders and Secretary , Bro . Davie had borne the heat and burden of the day , for they had passed through some vicissitudes , as he believed every new lodgj did , but he made bold to say that whatever the occasion or ceremony to be done , whether agreeable or disagreeable , Bro . Divie performed that duty in a genial and loving way . It was thought on the last occasion , at the instigation of Bro .

Stephens , who was always to the line point when any good action was to be done , that some little arrangement was necessary for the honour of the lodge as a slight tribute to the services rendered by Bro . Davie . The result was he asked that brother to accept from the brethren of that lodge ¦ 1 small present of a timepiece and side ornaments , as a token of their regard , in the spirit in which it was intended and not for its intrinsic value , but for the love and esteem

they bore towards him . He was quite sure if he might be allowed to anticipate the feelings rising in Bro . Davie ' s breast , that when he looked at that timepiece in the future he would have the satisfaction of knowing that amongst the sorrows and troubles of lile there were a certain number ° ' brethren with whom he had been associated who had "ot forgotten the appreciation in which he was held and the love they bore towards him . They wished him long life

and prosperity to look upon the timepiece for many years jjhd to be associated with the Tivoli Lodge in the same nappy ivay jn wnich he had in the past . 'he handsome timepiece bears the following inscription ° n a gold plate 1 " Presented by the brethren of the Tivoli j-ougeof Ancient Free and Accepted Masons , No . 2150 , ' 0 VV . Bro . Henry William Davie , l . P . M ., in recognition

01 his ever genial services as W . M . 1892-3 , and as Secrcf ary from the commencement of the lodge and as a slight token o £ their sincere esteem and kind regard . November 7 th , 1 S 03 . " . ° 'o . H . W . Davie , l . P . M ., Sec , said he listened with ? . ' ° st thrilling emotion to every word uttered by Bro . ar thing and was wondering how on earth he deserved this

kind recognition of any services be had been able to perform in the lodge . Until the moment his name was mentioned he had not the slightest n > tion that he should be the recipient of such a kindlv gift . He still wonde'ed how it had entered into the mind of any individual to present him with a testimonial fir any services rendered . It was quite true that everything , he had done for the Tivoli LicUre had been done from the bottom of his heart . He had loved to

meet the brethren , and his whole heart and soul had baen in the lodge , but that that should entitle him to any recognition was almost beyond his comprehension . It had thrilled him to the very heart , and he could hardly express the feelings he experienced . He should ever regard the gift they had given him as one he could say d-s ° . rved , because thev said it was deserved . He would regard it as a kindly offering which man offered to his felloy mm .

He thought Masonry was one of the grandest institutions which could possibly unite men one to another . Every man struggling in the world was not free from difficulties and anxieties , but his struggle had been rendered smooth by those with whom he had associated and by the knowledge that he had the regard of those who were members of that lodge , and had been instrumental in presenting him with that testimonial . He reg . rded it as a token of

affection , and could only thank them . Bro . W . T . Farthing , P . M ., in response to "The Installing Master , " thanked the W . M . for his kind expressions . It was his pleasure to initiate , pass , and raise the W . M ., and now he had had the honour of installing him into the chair . He hoped to long continue a member of the lodge to render any small services in his power . "The Visitors" was next given in kindly terms by the

W . M . Bro . J . Willing , jun ., P . M ., replying , said he had never spent a happier evening in his lile . He had to thank Bro . Stephens for his kind invitation . With regard to the present to Bro . Davey , that brother when he looked upon it would always think of the kindly feelings of the brethren , and have a pleasant remembrance of the great array of Past Masters and brethren witnessing the presentation .

Bros . Redfearn , W . M . ; Emberton , W . M . ; Chappell , W . M . ; Trask , VV . M . ; and Tower , W . M ., also replied . ** The Masonic Charities " was the next toast , the W . M . intimating his intention of serving as Steward on behalf of the Boys' School , and Bro . McLeod , the Secretary of that Institution , making an effective and forcible appeal to the

brethren . Other toasts were given , and the proceedings , which had been of a very pleasant and harmonious nature throughout , terminated with the Tyler ' s toast . The musical programme was in the hands of the Schartau Part Singers , and was everything that could be desired .

working tools and subsequently the charge were presented and delivered respectively by Bro . J . A . Walsh , J . Grand Lodge . To mark such an epoch in their lives , and prompted by filial

affection , that presentation was nude . Bro . Dunn then proceeded to remind his hearers of the great unanimity and popularity of Bro . Isiac Thompson ' s election to the post of Prov . Grand Treasurer at the Prov . Grand Lodge held at Bishop Auckland in September last . He expressed a sincere hope , which hi was sure would be re-echoed by every brother in the Craft to whom he was known , and by others of his many friends outside the Craft , ' that he might be spared for many years to come to don and wear the

M . and also the In ; , stalling Master on the admirable manner in , which the ceremony was performed .

Bro . H . W . Davie , I .

The musical programme was in the hands of the Schartau Part Singers , and was everything that could be desired .

affection , that presentation was nude . Bro . Dunn then proceeded to remind his hearers of the great unanimity and popularity of Bro . Isiac Thompson ' s election to the post of Prov .
