CHANG VING HUN , the Special Chinese Ambassador to thc Queen s Diamond jubilee , and a suite of 14 persons , with other specially-invited guests , left Charing Cross by special train at noon on Tuesday for Sevenoaks to view Lord Sackvitle's beautiful and historic seat of Knole . . BRO . THE DUKE AND DUCHESS oi- DEVONSHIRE , who have been entertaining a number of guests at Chatsworth , paid a special visit to Buxton on Monday in order to be present at an amateur dramatic entertainment in the theatre in aid of the Devonshire Hospital , which was founded and presented to the town by his Grace ' s grandfather .

THE ANNUAL regimental dinner of the Royal Horse Guards was held in the Whitehall Rooms of the Hotel Metropole on Tuesday , H . R . H . the Prince of Wales honouring the oflicers with his presence on the occasion . Among the rest were Bros . Field-Marshal Viscount Wolseley , Earl Carrington , the Earl ot Galloway , Lord Skelmersdale , Col . Egerton , and Milne Home .

IN VIEW of the many matters connected with the approaching Jubilee celebrations which wi'l demand his Royal Highness ' s personal attention , the Prince of Wales has resolved on not taking a house at Ascot for the race week , but will go down to the races each day by special train , while on Tuesday and the Cup Day he will be accompanied by H . R . H . thc Princess of Wales and their daughters .

THE DUCHESS OF ALBANY has arranged to hold a sale to-morrow ( Saturday ) at Claremont , of the work and other wares that were left over from her bazaar at the Imperial Institute last week . Thc sale will bc in behalf of the Deptford Fund , as the bazaar was , and as Claremont is rarely opened to the general public there will probably be a large inllux of visitors to see the house and grounds which are closely associated with the early years of thc Queen's life .

THE MEMBERS OF the Anglo-American Lodge , No . 2191 , which was established more than 10 yeais ago to cultivate fraternal relations between English and American Masons , having decided at a special meeting to rennve the lodge lo the Hotel Cecil , Strand , the forthcoming installation meeting ( Bro . C . O . Burgess , P . P . S . G . D . Surrey , W . M . elect ) , will be held accordingly on Tuesday , the 15 th inst ., at thc Hotel Cecil , when a large gathering of members and their friends is expected .

A MATINEE peiforinance in aid of the Queen s Commemoration Fund will bc given , by permission of Bro . Sir Henry Irving , at thc Lyceum Theatre , under the management of Bro . Edward Terry , on Tuesday , the 29 th instant . Among those who have promised their services for the occasion arc Madame Albani , Madame Sarah Bernhardt , Madame Rejane , Mr . and Mrs . Beerbohm Tree and the company of Her Majesty ' s Theatre , Bro . Edward Terry and the Terry Theatre Company , Bro . Charles Wyndham and the Criteiion Company , Bro . and Mrs . Bancroft , and Bro . Sir II . Irving .

HER MAJESTY has expressed her intention of visiting Kensington , where she was born and spent the early years of her life , and the day chosen for the purpose will be Monday , the 2 Sth inst ., the anniversary of her coronation . Great preparations arc accordingly being made by the inhabitants , who ate desirous of showing their appreciation of the intended honour . Thc Oueen was born in Kensington Palace on the 2 _| th May , 1819 , and it was there that early on the morning of the 20 th June , 1 S 37 , she received information of the death of her uncle and her accession to the throne .

THE ANNIAL muster parade of the Corps of Commissionaires will bc held in the grounds of the Royal Hospital , Chelsea , on Sunday , the 2 3 th inst ., whjn subscriptions will be invited to the Prince of Wales ' s Hospital Fund , Sir E . Walter , the founder and commanding officer , having addressed a circular to the men , in which he expresses his belief that the corps will gladly avail themselves of such an opportunity of showing their

gratitude for the advantages they have enjoyed under the Queen ' s long and benelicen t reign by assisting to promote the Fund which his Royal Highness has established . There is a probability that the parade will be inspected by H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , the Dukes of York , Connaught , and Cambridge , and Bro . Lord Wolseley , the Commander-in-Chief .

IN THE ISLE 01 WIGHT , where the Queen is in residence for a considerable portion of the year , the plans of the different Jubilee Committees have been pretty well arranged . The vicar of St . Mary's , Cowes , has invited the Urban District Council and the friendly societies to attend Divine seJvice in the restored Church on Sunday , thc 20 th inst . ( Accession Day ) . On the 22 nd inst . the new extension to the parade will be opened by lhe Chairman of the Council and named thc Victoria Parade . A Royal

salute will be Incd and tradesmen are to be requested to decorate their houses , but the illuminations will bc icservcd against thc hoped-for visit of the Oueen at a later date . The children and old people will be entertained in Northwood Park , and in the evening a bonfire will be lighted on the cliff above Egypt Point . At Iiast Cowes there will also be a service on the Sunday , and on Jubilee Day thc children and old people will bc entertained in the Castle grounds by permission of the Hon . John Verekcr .

As THE TIME for the celebration of the Diamond Jubil » c approaches , the announcements as to the li-tes that are being organised all over the country in honour of the event beer me more and more cirrumstantial . Thus a very elaborate design for decorating the Bank of England by M . A . Legros , the French artist , who has been comfnissioned by Messis . Uefries to execute it , is so far advanced as to allow of its being seen at the artist ' s studio in Fulham on Saturday last . The decoration is on a laige scale , and will prove one of the chief attractions on Jubilee Day , especially in the evening , whan the

rays of the electric light will be thrown upon it . I he proposal to illuminate the dome of St . Paul's has been negatived , but the electric light will be thrown upon it , and , from the experiments already made , there is reason to hope that it will prove effective . Stands are being erected along the lint , ol route , and next week no doubt the din of preparation will be greater than ever , and those who traverse the route which the Royal Procession will follow will bc able to form some idea ol what Jubilee Day itsell will bring forth .

TAMWORTH CASTLE , which was bestowed by the Conqueror on Robsrt lc Marmion , Lord of Fontenay , was sold by public auction in Tamworth Town Hall on Tuesday evening . The bidding commenced at £ 1000 , and in thc result the castle became the oropei ty of the town of Tamworth at £ 3000 .

THE GRAND SUPERINTENDENT of the Province of Staffordshire , Comp . Lieut . Col . J . A . Bindley , has received intimation , through thc Home Secretary , of thc Queen's gracious acceptance of thc address on the occasion of her Majesty attaining thc Ooth year of her reign , sent by the Provincial Grand Chapter of Staffordshire . THE P . G . M . oi- SHROPSHIRE , BIO . Sir Oflley Wakeman , Bart ., has intimated his intention of holding a Provincial Grand Lodge at Shrewsbury on Wednesday , July l . | th next , after which the brethren present will attend a service to be held in St . Chad ' s Church in commemoration of thc long reign of her Most Gracious Majesty , at which full Masonic regalia will be worn .

PRINCESS MARY , DUCHESS OI-TECK , had so far recovered from her recent serious indisposition as to be able to take walking exercise in the grounds of White Lodge , Richmond Park , on Sunday last . Her Royal Highness was visited the previous day by her sister , tlie Grand Duchess of Mccklcnberg-Strelitz , who afterwards proceeded to Kew to remain there for some few days .

I HE STABILITY of the Corporation stand was on Saturday tested by about 25 a ollieers and men of the City Police . The surveyor , his assistant , and the contractors superintended the carrying out of the experiment , which consisted of the police marching and counter-marching over the seats and ascending and descending the steps en masse . No hitch of any kind occurred , and the test was regarded as entirely satisfactory .

THE J UBILEE Masonic commemoration jewels , which may be worn by every Freemason who is a member of a lodge under the Grand Lodge of England on June 20 th next , are being manufactured by Messrs . George Kenning and Sons , of Little Britain and Aldersgate-street , whose design was selected by the Grand Master . The jewels are being manufactured at various prices , so as to be within the reach of all who may thus wish to specially commemorate the sixtieth year of thc reign of the Oueen . —Citv Press .

THE FUNERAL ofthe late Bro . W . G . Lemon , P . A . G . D . C , took place at Lewisham Cemetery on Saturday , thc 2 gth ult ., the first portion of the service being held at the Blackheath Congregational Church . There was a very large attendance of mourners , amongst whom were Bros . W . G . Kentish , W . J . Spratling , VV . C . Sayer , W . M . Ravensbourne Lodge ; A . Stewart Browne , F . R . C . S ., and others . The Rivensbourne Lodge and thc Ravensbourne Chapter were among those that sent wreaths .

THE VARIOUS seaside resorts which are popular with Londoners were visited by hosts of excursionists on Whit Monday . Brighton for instance , was invaded by 15 special train loads of them . Eastbourne , Worthing , and other places on thc Sussex coast were also visited in great force , so too , were Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft , on thc East coast , while as regards Margate , Ramsgate , Heme Hiy , and the Kentish watering places generally , it is needless to say they were filled to overlbwing and everybody thoroughly enjoyed himself .

THE LORDS OF THE ADMIRALTY have issued a code of instructions relative to the grand naval review which is arranged to take place . at Spithead , on Saturday , the 20 th inst ., and at which her Majesty will be represented by H . R . H . the Prince of Wales . The number of ships reviewed will be 175 , ranging from the huge battleship , of which there will be 21 , down to thc pigmy torpedo boat . There will also hi a line of foreign

war ships , and another comprising representative vessels of the British Mercantile Marine , but these will be in lines apart , while the British warships will be moored in five lines . In the evening the fleet will be illuminated , and in the event of ths weather being fine , there is no doubt the Spithead naval review will be one of the grandest and most imposing of thc spectacles arranged to take place for the Queen ' s Diamond Jubilee .

THE OUEEN has decided to rctuin from London to Windsor Castle on the afternoon of the 23 rd inst ., and the Windsor authorities are busy making arrangements for her Majesty ' s reception at Slough , Eton College , and Windsor , when addresses will bc presented , while it has been settled that a fourth address shall be handed to her from the Thames Conservancy at Windsor Bridge . Bro . Lord Wantage , Lord-Lieutenant of Berkshire , and the County members have been invited to attend the presentation of the

Windsor address , which will take plocc near the late Sir E . Bochm ' s statue of her Majesty in the High-street and opposite the Castle . Thc Mayor , it is said , is about to invite the inhabitants of the Royal Borough to keep the 23 rd inst . as a general holiday and decorate and illuminate their honses . On the night of the 24 th inst . the north front of the Castle will be illuminated by Bengal coloured fires , which will have a picturesque effect , and be visible for a considerable distance round .

THE NEW PALACE SIEAMERS ( LIMITED ) , commenced their sailings on Saturday last , and will bc found to offer even greater facilities than in past years for visiting thc several watering-places between which and London they ply . La Marguerite , which is the finest of this line ot steamers , will visit Margate and Boulogne and back on Mondays , Thursdays , and Saturdays ; and Southend and Margate on Sundays . The Royal Sovereign will go to Margate and Ramsgate and back daily during thc season , except on Fridays the i . Sth and 25 th inst . ; the Koh-i-Noor will do Southend , Margate ,

Ramsgate , ( and Deal and back ( Wednesdays and Fridays excepted ) from the 2 ( Jth inst . ; while a new boat , La Belgique , will do thc journey to Southend , Margate and Ostend on Mondays , Thursdays , and Saturdays , returning from Ostend on Sumhys , Thursdays , and Fridiys . For particulars as to fares , times of sailing , & c , we refer our readers to the published Time Bills , or to the Manager at the offices , 50 , King William-street . Thc La Marguerite will take a limited number of passengers to Southampton on the 25 th inst . to the Naval Review at Spithead the following day . Fares , not including sleeping accommodation , fi . | s . each .

11 IK I'RKF . MASON : ; of Leeds intend to commemorate the Queen s Diamond Jubilee it ) a practical way . All thc nine lodges in the city have combined to give a tea and entertainment to Soo or 900 old people on Saturday , the 19 th inst . The event will take place at thc Town Hall . The Mayor of Leeds ( Sir James Kitson , Bart ., M . P . ) has promised to attend , and besides thc ollieers and brethren of the local lodges , several members of the Provincial Grand Lodge of West Yorkshire will be present , including thc Provincial Grand Master ( Bro . the Right Hon . VV . L . Jackson , M . P . ) and the Dep . Provincial Grand Master ( Bro . J . C . Malcolm ) . On the following day ( Sunday ) there

will be a service in Kirkstall Abbey , commencing at three o ' clock iu the afternoon . A string band and chorus will lender selections of sacred music , under the direction ol Bro . II . Cockerlyne , Organist of Kirkstall Church , and the service will be conducted by Bro . thc Rev . Canon Bullock , vicar ol Holy Trinity . Though thc service is being arranged by the Masonic body , thc general public will be admitted . It is also proposed by the Fieemasons of Leeds to establish a permanent meino'ial of the Queen's long reign . What form this memorial will take has not yet been definitely decided upon , but the scheme will no doubt bc in connection with one ol the charitable institutions of the city . — Yurkshirc l o .. t .

Great preparations arc accordingly being made by the inhabitants , who ate desirous of showing their appreciation of the intended honour . Thc Oueen was born in Kensington Palace on the 2 _| th May , 1819 , and it was there that early on the morning of the 20 th June , 1 S 37 , she received information of the death of her uncle and her accession to the throne .

THE ANNIAL muster parade of the Corps of Commissionaires will bc held in the grounds of the Royal Hospital , Chelsea , on Sunday , the 2 3 th inst ., whjn subscriptions will be invited to the Prince of Wales ' s Hospital Fund , Sir E . Walter , the founder and commanding officer , having addressed a circular to the men , in which he expresses his belief that the corps will gladly avail themselves of such an opportunity of showing their

gratitude for the advantages they have enjoyed under the Queen ' s long and benelicen t reign by assisting to promote the Fund which his Royal Highness has established . There is a probability that the parade will be inspected by H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , the Dukes of York , Connaught , and Cambridge , and Bro . Lord Wolseley , the Commander-in-Chief .

IN THE ISLE 01 WIGHT , where the Queen is in residence for a considerable portion of the year , the plans of the different Jubilee Committees have been pretty well arranged . The vicar of St . Mary's , Cowes , has invited the Urban District Council and the friendly societies to attend Divine seJvice in the restored Church on Sunday , thc 20 th inst . ( Accession Day ) . On the 22 nd inst . the new extension to the parade will be opened by lhe Chairman of the Council and named thc Victoria Parade . A Royal

salute will be Incd and tradesmen are to be requested to decorate their houses , but the illuminations will bc icservcd against thc hoped-for visit of the Oueen at a later date . The children and old people will be entertained in Northwood Park , and in the evening a bonfire will be lighted on the cliff above Egypt Point . At Iiast Cowes there will also be a service on the Sunday , and on Jubilee Day thc children and old people will bc entertained in the Castle grounds by permission of the Hon . John Verekcr .

As THE TIME for the celebration of the Diamond Jubil » c approaches , the announcements as to the li-tes that are being organised all over the country in honour of the event beer me more and more cirrumstantial . Thus a very elaborate design for decorating the Bank of England by M . A . Legros , the French artist , who has been comfnissioned by Messis . Uefries to execute it , is so far advanced as to allow of its being seen at the artist ' s studio in Fulham on Saturday last . The decoration is on a laige scale , and will prove one of the chief attractions on Jubilee Day , especially in the evening , whan the

rays of the electric light will be thrown upon it . I he proposal to illuminate the dome of St . Paul's has been negatived , but the electric light will be thrown upon it , and , from the experiments already made , there is reason to hope that it will prove effective . Stands are being erected along the lint , ol route , and next week no doubt the din of preparation will be greater than ever , and those who traverse the route which the Royal Procession will follow will bc able to form some idea ol what Jubilee Day itsell will bring forth .

TAMWORTH CASTLE , which was bestowed by the Conqueror on Robsrt lc Marmion , Lord of Fontenay , was sold by public auction in Tamworth Town Hall on Tuesday evening . The bidding commenced at £ 1000 , and in thc result the castle became the oropei ty of the town of Tamworth at £ 3000 .

Bindley , has received intimation , through thc Home Secretary , of thc Queen's gracious acceptance of thc address on the occasion of her Majesty attaining thc Ooth year of her reign , sent by the Provincial Grand Chapter of Staffordshire . PRINCESS MARY , DUCHESS OI-TECK , had so far recovered from her recent serious indisposition as to be able to take walking exercise in the grounds of White Lodge , Richmond Park , on Sunday last . Her Royal Highness was visited the previous day by her sister , tlie Grand Duchess of Mccklcnberg-Strelitz , who afterwards proceeded to Kew to remain there for some few days .

I HE STABILITY of the Corporation stand was on Saturday tested by about 25 a ollieers and men of the City Police . The surveyor , his assistant , and the contractors superintended the carrying out of the experiment , which consisted of the police marching and counter-marching over the seats and ascending and descending the steps en masse . No hitch of any kind occurred , and the test was regarded as entirely satisfactory .

THE J UBILEE Masonic commemoration jewels , which may be worn by every Freemason who is a member of a lodge under the Grand Lodge of England on June 20 th next , are being manufactured by Messrs . George Kenning and Sons , of Little Britain and Aldersgate-street , whose design was selected by the Grand Master . The jewels are being manufactured at various prices , so as to be within the reach of all who may thus wish to specially commemorate the sixtieth year of thc reign of the Oueen . —Citv Press .

THE FUNERAL ofthe late Bro . W . G . Lemon , P . A . G . D . C , took place at Lewisham Cemetery on Saturday , thc 2 gth ult ., the first portion of the service being held at the Blackheath Congregational Church . There was a very large attendance of mourners , amongst whom were Bros . W . G . Kentish , W . J . Spratling , VV . C . Sayer , W . M . Ravensbourne Lodge ; A . Stewart Browne , F . R . C . S ., and others . The Rivensbourne Lodge and thc Ravensbourne Chapter were among those that sent wreaths .

THE VARIOUS seaside resorts which are popular with Londoners were visited by hosts of excursionists on Whit Monday . Brighton for instance , was invaded by 15 special train loads of them . Eastbourne , Worthing , and other places on thc Sussex coast were also visited in great force , so too , were Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft , on thc East coast , while as regards Margate , Ramsgate , Heme Hiy , and the Kentish watering places generally , it is needless to say they were filled to overlbwing and everybody thoroughly enjoyed himself .

THE LORDS OF THE ADMIRALTY have issued a code of instructions relative to the grand naval review which is arranged to take place . at Spithead , on Saturday , the 20 th inst ., and at which her Majesty will be represented by H . R . H . the Prince of Wales . The number of ships reviewed will be 175 , ranging from the huge battleship , of which there will be 21 , down to thc pigmy torpedo boat . There will also hi a line of foreign

war ships , and another comprising representative vessels of the British Mercantile Marine , but these will be in lines apart , while the British warships will be moored in five lines . In the evening the fleet will be illuminated , and in the event of ths weather being fine , there is no doubt the Spithead naval review will be one of the grandest and most imposing of thc spectacles arranged to take place for the Queen ' s Diamond Jubilee .

THE OUEEN has decided to rctuin from London to Windsor Castle on the afternoon of the 23 rd inst ., and the Windsor authorities are busy making arrangements for her Majesty ' s reception at Slough , Eton College , and Windsor , when addresses will bc presented , while it has been settled that a fourth address shall be handed to her from the Thames Conservancy at Windsor Bridge . Bro . Lord Wantage , Lord-Lieutenant of Berkshire , and the County members have been invited to attend the presentation of the

Windsor address , which will take plocc near the late Sir E . Bochm ' s statue of her Majesty in the High-street and opposite the Castle . Thc Mayor , it is said , is about to invite the inhabitants of the Royal Borough to keep the 23 rd inst . as a general holiday and decorate and illuminate their honses . On the night of the 24 th inst . the north front of the Castle will be illuminated by Bengal coloured fires , which will have a picturesque effect , and be visible for a considerable distance round .

THE NEW PALACE SIEAMERS ( LIMITED ) , commenced their sailings on Saturday last , and will bc found to offer even greater facilities than in past years for visiting thc several watering-places between which and London they ply . La Marguerite , which is the finest of this line ot steamers , will visit Margate and Boulogne and back on Mondays , Thursdays , and Saturdays ; and Southend and Margate on Sundays . The Royal Sovereign will go to Margate and Ramsgate and back daily during thc season , except on Fridays the i . Sth and 25 th inst . ; the Koh-i-Noor will do Southend , Margate ,

Ramsgate , ( and Deal and back ( Wednesdays and Fridays excepted ) from the 2 ( Jth inst . ; while a new boat , La Belgique , will do thc journey to Southend , Margate and Ostend on Mondays , Thursdays , and Saturdays , returning from Ostend on Sumhys , Thursdays , and Fridiys . Thc La Marguerite will take a limited number of passengers to Southampton on the 25 th inst . to the Naval Review at Spithead the following day . All thc nine lodges in the city have combined to give a tea and entertainment to Soo or 900 old people on Saturday , the 19 th inst . The event will take place at thc Town Hall . The Mayor of Leeds ( Sir James Kitson , Bart ., M . P . ) has promised to attend , and besides thc ollieers and brethren of the local lodges , several members of the Provincial Grand Lodge of West Yorkshire will be present , including thc Provincial Grand Master ( Bro . the Right Hon . VV . L . Jackson , M . P . ) and the Dep . Provincial Grand Master ( Bro . J . C . Malcolm ) . On the following day ( Sunday ) there

will be a service in Kirkstall Abbey , commencing at three o ' clock iu the afternoon . A string band and chorus will lender selections of sacred music , under the direction ol Bro . II . Cockerlyne , Organist of Kirkstall Church , and the service will be conducted by Bro . thc Rev . Canon Bullock , vicar ol Holy Trinity . Though thc service is being arranged by the Masonic body , thc general public will be admitted . It is also proposed by the Fieemasons of Leeds to establish a permanent meino'ial of the Queen's long reign .
