Mariners Lodge ( No . 16 S ) . —The installation night of this lodge came off on Wednesday , the 3 rd inst ., at the Masonic Temple , Le Marchant-street , when , in the presence of a very crowded meeting , Bro . J . B . Nickolls was formally inducted into the chair of K . S . The outgoing Alaster , Bro . Benest , opened the lodge , and the minutes

having been duly confirmed , Bro . Lovell , P . M ., was requested to assume the gavel , and to proceed with the cere mony . The Board of Installed Alasters having been closed , Bro . Lovell placed the gavel in Bro . Rowcliffe ' s , P . M ., hands , who then completed the ceremony . Wc should be failing in our duty if we omitted to record the simply faultless manner in which this installation ceremony was carried

out by these two comparatively young Past Masters ; it was an object lesson with which , we are sure , one or two of ( he older Past Masters who were absent , doubtless in consequence of the terribly inclement weather , would have been greatly delighted . As it was , it gave unqualified satisfaction to all present , and to none more than the great body of the members , who were only too delighted to note what

able and zealous Masonic wo ; kers they possessed in their younger Past Alasters . The iBoard ot Installed Masters was a very numerous one , many visitors being present from Doyle ' s and Loyalty Lodges , and a few from Fidelis Lodge . Amongst the Past Masters and Worshipful Masters present we noticed Bros . Balfour Cockburn , Stickland , Royle , Hume Spry , Hamel , Foote , Sparrow , Thorn , Nicollc ,

Smythson , De Jersey , Le Hurey , and many others . Bro . Nickolis is a very able man ; he is Professor of Chemistry at lhe lecal Elizabeth College , and is a first-class ritualist ; he has surrounded himself with able and zealous officers , and we augur for him a most prosperous year of office ; at the same time , we heartily congratulate the lodge on having for its ruler such an accomplished and liberalminded brother . having been duly confirmed , Bro . Lovell , P . M ., was requested to assume the gavel , and to proceed with the cere mony . The Board of Installed Alasters having been closed , Bro . Wc should be failing in our duty if we omitted to record the simply faultless manner in which this installation ceremony was carried

out by these two comparatively young Past Masters ; it was an object lesson with which , we are sure , one or two of ( he older Past Masters who were absent , doubtless in consequence of the terribly inclement weather , would have been greatly delighted . As it was , it gave unqualified satisfaction to all present , and to none more than the great body of the members , who were only too delighted to note what

able and zealous Masonic wo ; kers they possessed in their younger Past Alasters . The iBoard ot Installed Masters was a very numerous one , many visitors being present from Doyle ' s and Loyalty Lodges , and a few from Fidelis Lodge . Nickolis is a very able man ; he is Professor of Chemistry at lhe lecal Elizabeth College , and is a first-class ritualist ; he has surrounded himself with able and zealous officers , and we augur for him a most prosperous year of office ; at the same time , we heartily congratulate the lodge on having for its ruler such an accomplished and liberalminded brother .
