The manner in which the toast had been received showed him that the brethren appreciated the position of a Past Master , and he felt , himself , that it was a great compliment to all thc Past Alasters to find that their services were not forgotten . 'The VV . M .
had referred to his coming to their lodge , all the way from the hills , and valleys , and wilds of Berkshire . Well , there was more than one motive in so doing , and he would tell them wh y . F ' or the last twenty years , ever since he was initiated into the mysteries and privileges of Fceemasonry , he had been , as it were , bound up with the fortunes of the Pattison Lodge . as he had , felt that at one time it was 111 danger , and they and he could appreciate the difficulties of that time and thc successes of the present , Now he could safel y say there was not a lodge in thc kingdom where a better feeling existed than in the Pattison , and if he came a long distance to bc with them , it was not only that he felt himself to be really and truly thc father of the lodge , but because he felt as he looked around upon its members
and saw so many good Masons , who had , as it were , grown i ' p under him , that he had a slake in it that would only he broken with his life and die out with his last wishes . After 'eferring to the excellence of the Past Masters in their various years of office , and paying a special compliment to Pasl'Master Penfold , he concluded a fine address by again thanking them , and wishing them all a happy and prosperous new year .
