than that he could not say , as his had been a most happy term in the chair . Bro . J . J . La Feuillade , W . M ., in reply , thanked the l . P . M . " for the flattering and kindly manner in which he had proposed the toast , and the brethren for their hearty reception of it . When he came into the lodge a few years ago he was quite satisfied to deputise at the organ , and had no
idea of ever attaining the dignity of the chair . However , he became , acquainted with one and another , and found them such good fellows that he could not keep awav . His cousin—Bro . R . La Feuillade , P . M . —also urged him to work , and although he did not think himself capable of satisfactorily performing the onerous duties of Master , he would do his utmost to give them all satisfaction . He had
a distinguished predecessor to follow in Bro . Westley , I . P . M ., whom he should endeavour to emulate , and he could assure the brethren that he would do all he could for the lodge , and any suggestion the officers should make he should be ready to adopt for its welfare . He thanked them one and all for the kindness which had placed him in the chair , and also for their kindly reception that evening .
"The Initiates " having been duly honoured , Bro . Webb , P . M ., gave " The Installing Master , " and said he was pleased to hear the vote unanimously passed in the lodge thanking Bro . Westley , I . P . M ., for his admirable rendering of the installation ceremony . He had known the l . P . M . almost from his entry into Freemasonry , and they had worked together for many years . He knew from the
attention paid by Bro . Westley to the work that he would become an excellent Master , and that brother had proved himself one , and the installation ceremony had never before been given to their more entire satisfaction . Bro . W . W . Westley , I . P . M ., having returned thanks , said he had worked through nearly all the offices , and had tried to do his best . During the past year he thought he
had succeeded fairly well , and had been supported by the members in a most enthusiastic manner . It had been the happiest year he had spent in Masonry , for he had been received with kindness by one and all . With regard to his duties that evening , he had performed them to the best of his ability , and was more than gratified at the manner in which his efforts had been spoken of . He thanked the
lodge for presenting him with the Past Master s jewel , and also for the vote of thanks , which he did not expect , and only hoped that his successor would have as prosperous and as happy a year of office as he had had . Bro . S . J . Attenborough , VV . M . 234 S , in response to "The Visitors , " which was proposed in cordial terms by Bro . R . La Feuillade , P . M ., said that a more magnificent
treat in the way of Masonic work than they had witnessed that evening it would be impossible to imagine , and he congratulated the lodge on having such a Past Master in the art of Masonic ceremonies . As far as the entertainment was concerned , no lodge could have received their visitors more heartily . He was connected with the R . M . I , for Boys , being a member of a Committee with Bro . Everett , and
therefore , asked the members to heartily support the W . M . in his Stewardship . Bros . Bolton , P . P . S . G . W . Kent , and Martin also responded . Bro . Capt . T . C Walls , P . M ., replying for "The Past Masters , " said they represented one fourth of the community that evening , which was saying a great deal for the
interest they all took 111 the lodge . There was a long list of Past Masters who had borne the heat and burden of the day , and who were all connected with the lodge by memories of which younger members could know nothingj and they had an interest which others could not have in the proceedings of the lodge . On his right was Bro . Everett , P . M ., the third Master and father of the lodge , and on his left was the oldest joining member . So long as the lodge
was well officered by brethren occupying the executive offices , it would continue to progress , and the same good feeling and harmony would prevail . Bro . Webb , P . M ., also responded , and other toasts having been given , the Tyler ' s toast closed the proceedings . A capital programme of music was ably carried out by Miss Edith Clay , Mrs . Temple , Mr . Edgar Barnes , Mr . R . D . Hopkins , and Bros . R . Temple and Langdon .
