Marsh ( Henry Marston ); he was initiated in the Albany Lodge , No . 151 ( late 176 ) in August 1834 . Passed September Sth , and raised December 115 th—hence a member of the Craft for near half a century .

Bro . Sir Frederick Perkins , of Old Jewry , and other members of his family have erected in the west front of St . Michael's Church , Southampton , a handsome window and tablet in memory of their parents , Mr . and Mrs . R . Hopkins Perkins , late of Northumberland House . The design was so much admired by the Princess Louise whilst the window was in manufacture that a similar work is to be forwarded to her .

Bro . Sir Thomas Brassey , in distributing the prizes to the Liverpool Brigade of the Royal Naval Volunteers , announced his intention of subscribing £ 100 to the funds , the Admiralty having refused the capitation grant on the ground that in the wealthy seaports of London , Liverpool , and Bristol the cost of providing uniforms for the limited number of naval volunteers who were unable to

bear that expense should be met by local subscriptions . Bro . James Stevens , P . M ., P . Z ., has undertaken to deliver his interesting lecture " Explanatory of the Ritual and Ceremonies of the First Degree , " in the St . In the event of her Majesty having sufficiently recovered from her recent accident , the Court will leave Windsor for Osborne early next week . A meeting of the Metropolitan College of the Rosicrucian Society took place at Red Lion-square , on Thursday evening , when the oflicers for the ensuing year were elected and installed , and many brethren elected and admitted to the Grade of Zelator .

The Camden Royal Arch Chapter , No . 704 , was consecrated at Anderton's Hotel , on Friday , the 4 th inst . The ceremony was very ably performed by Bro . James Terry . On Wednesday evening H . R . H . the Dukeof Connaught presided at the anniversary festival of the Metropolitan Free Hospital , the scene of the gathering

being the Freemasons' Tavern , Great Queen-street . Bro . the Marquis of Hartington , M . P ., Secretary of State for War , visited Shorncliffe Camp on Wednesday for the purpose of distributing among the officers and men of the 7 th Dragoon Guards recently returned from Egypt the silver medal presented by the Queen for the Egyptian Campaign and the bronze star awarded by the Khedive .

We are very pleased to announce that Bro . E . M . Lott , P . M . 205 , 1765 , and 1929 , has been appointed organist of St . Sepulchres , London . This appointment is second only to that of St . Paul ' s in . the City , and the many friends of Bro . Lott will hear with pleasure of his success .

P . j President of the Local Government board , opened some new schools at Isleworth , which have een erected at a cost of ^ 20 , 000 in connection with the Brentford Union , and will accommodate 300 children . VV . Repton , and Col . . King Harman , were amongst the members present at the Speaker ' s Fourth Parliamentary Full Dress Dinner on Wednesday .

Qro . Sir Michael Hicks-Beach , Bart , M . P ., presided at the thirty-first anniversary Festival of the Hospital for Sick Children , Great Ormond-street , held at Willis ' s Rooms , St . James ' s , on Wednesday evening . Several warm supporters of this useful and well-conducted institution were present , and in the course of the evening subscriptions were announced by the Secretary to tbe amount of about £ 1600 .

The second ball of the season of the Finsbury Cricket Club was celebrated at Bromley Vestry Hall , Bowj on Friday last with great success . Bro . John Lee Dale acted most efficiently as M . C , assisted by Mr . Lovell . Bro . Speaight furnished an excellent band whilst Bro . Hay , of Stratford , supplied the refreshments . This club , which was established in 1851

and of which Bro . R . J . Tucker , P . M ., is Treasurer , has recently been granted the use of a piece of ground in Wanstead Park by the Corporation of the City of London . A number of influential brethren in Clapham and the vicinity are anxious of starting a Lodgeof Instruction at the Gauden Hotel , opposite Clapham-road Station , where there is every facility and comfort for the purpose .

The brethren would be very pleased to receive the permission of a mother lodge , not having a Lodge of Instruction attached to it , to work under its warrant . It may be mentioned that a very handsome suite of rooms specially arranged for meetings of lodges , chapters , & c , is in course of construction adjoining the hotel and will be completed very shortly .

Bro . Sir Michael Costa has sent to the Naples Conservatorium , in which institution he completed his musical education , an autograph copy of his opera " Malek-Adel , " accompanied by the following letter : — " This opera of ' Malek-Adel , ' composed and copied by me , was represented for the first time in the Italian Opera at Paris , in the Salle Favart , in 1 S 37 . After the fire that destroyed that

theatre my score was almost miraculously found under the smoking ruins , partly consumed by fire . Having been asked to make a gift of another manuscript to the Royal College of Music in Naples I have rewritten that score , and offer it with pleasure to the celebrated archives of the

Princess Beatrice drove over to Claremont on Saturday to visit the Duke and Duchess of Albany , on the occasion of her brother's birthday . Bro . George Lambert , F . S . A ., P . G . S . B ., has been elected Upper Warden of the Paiten makers ' Company .

A highly successful meeting of the Lullingstone Lodge was held on VVednesday last when the new Masonic Hall was dedicated by the M . W . G . M . Lord Holmesdale , and the Rev . Bro . the Earl of Carnarvon presided c ;; Wednesday evening at the twelfth annual festival of thi wailway Officers and Servants' Association at the Cannon-street Hotel . His lordship made an eloquent appeal on behalf of railway employes , in response to which subscriptions were announced amounting to upwards of . C 2700 .

Bro . Earl Granville , who was suffering from a slight indisposition last week , was sufficiently recovered to be able to attend the Cabinet Council of Saturday . Bro . G . O . Trcvelyan , M . The Duke of Connaught presided on Wednesday evening at the anniversary festival of the Metropolitan Free Hospital , held at the Freemasons' Tavern . In proposing the toast of the evening , His Royal Highness urged with considerable tact and ability the claims of the hosital upon public support . On Thursday evening , the 5 th inst ., the thirteenth annual ball in aid of the funds of the City and Metropolitan Police Orphanage was held at . the City Terminus Hotel , Cannon-street . The visitors commenced to arrive soon after eight o'clock , and the number was steadily augmented till midnight , when there was quite a thousand persons present , amongst whom were Bro . the Lord Mayor

and the Lady Mayoress , Bro . Sheriff and Mrs . De Keyser , Bro . Sheriff Savory , the Under-Sheriffs ( Messrs . Sheppard and Pontifex ) , Lieut .-Col . At the supper the Lord Mayor presided . After the toasts of "The Queen" and "The Prince ar . d Princess of VVales and the rest of the Royal Family" had been

enthusiastically drunk , his lordship proposed " Success to the Orphanage , " mentioning various interesting particulars respecting its rise and progress . Of the 12 , 000 constables in thc metropolis all , he said , were subscribers excepting 68 , and this was a fact which reflected great credit on the force .

Major Joseph proposed " The Lord Mayor and Corporation , " which was acknowledged by the Chief Magistrate and Bro . Alderman and Sheriff De Keyser , the latter before sitting down giving " The Health of the Ladies , " for whom Mr . Brisley replied . Nothing seemed wanting to make the ball a complete success .
