CONSECRATION OF A NEW LODGE IN NEW ZEALAND .

The dedication of the Albion Lodge took place with full ceremony on the 30 th April last at the Oddfellows' Hall , Auckland , and was an event in the . Masonic history of the North Shore . 'The D . W . P . Moat , V . W . D . G . S . W ., acting D . D . G . M . ; II . G . Wade , D . G . Sue , and Grand I ) , of C . ; Skinner , D . J . W ., acting S . W . ; Dr . Goldsbrough , J . W . ; Cole , S . D . ; Rev . C . M . Nelson , D . G . Chap . ; Rev . W . Tebbs , D . G . Reg . ; N . G . Brassey , S . of W . ; Hatswell , D . of C . ; W . R . Waddel , Swd . Br . ; J . P . Clark , Purst . ; 1 L Gordon Gooch , Musical Conductor ; and Tonge , D . G . 'T yler . The Scottish Provincial Grand Lojgc was represented

by Bro . Slater , P . G . Sec ; Bulford , D . G . I . G . ; and Hitchens , D . of C . The Irish Constitution was not represented as a Prov . Grand Lodge , owing , no doubt , to the absence of Bro . G . P . Pierce , R . W . P . G . M ., in the South , but all the city and surburban lodge ? were _ represented , and there was a large and influential gathering . District Grand Lodge was opened by the V . W . D . D . G . M ., Bro . Lodder , Bro . Skinner occupying the S . VV . 's chair and

Bro . Goldsbroughthatcf the J . W . Bro . J . A . Bcaleprcsided at the organ , and the whole of the musical arrangements of the ceremony throughout were under the direction of Bro . Gordon Gooch . The D . G . SECRETARY addressed the brethren on the purpose of ihe meeting . A number of gentlemen at the North Shore had thought it advisable to form a lodge , and forwarded a petition to the District Grand Master . This

was recommended by the Prince of Wales Lodge , 133 S , and the District Grand Master being satisfied had granted a charter , or warrant , of dispensation , and had requested the Deputy District Grand Master to carry out the celebration . The District Grand Secretary read the minutes of the meeting which gave rise to these proceedings , also the petition forwarded to the District Grand Master , the minute of approval from the Prince of Wales Lodge , and finally the

charter issued by the D . G . M ., Bro . G . S . Graham . The members of the new lodge then took their places in the centre of the lodge room , and signified their approval of the officers named in the charter as the first officers of the lodge . The choir sang the anthem , " Behold how good and joyful , " ana a procession was formed with Bro . Wade as Director of Ceremonies , assisted by Bros . Hastwell , Chapman , and General Gosset as Marshals , and the procession

headed by the band , marched to Trinity Church , where the Rev . C . M . Nelson , P . G . Chaplain , delivered an address . A collection amounting to £ S 13 s . was taken up in aid of the Benevolent Fund about to be started in the new lodge . 'The procession reformed and returned to the hall . The business of the gra : i I loJ . r ; i being resumed , the D . G . Chaplain offered the prayer of dedication , and the choir sang the sanctus , " Holy , holy , holy , Lord God

Almisjhty . " 'The D . G . M . delivered a brief address , and the D . G . Chaplain read a selection of scripture . The hymn " Supreme Grand Master , God of Power , " was sung , and the Grand Lodge formed in procession , and the D . G . M . consecrated the lod' ; e . The officers designate , Bras . G . N . Brassey , VV . M ., A . W . Gardner , S . W ., and O . Mays , J . W ., and the members of the Albion Lodge were presented to the D . G . M . by Bro . H . G . Wade , D . G .

Secretary , anil duly constituted a lodge for the purposes of Freemasonry . The D . G . Chaplain briefly addressed the newly-formed lodge , and after another hymn the D . G . Lodge was closed in due form . The regular meeting of the Albion Lodge was then held , for the purpose rl" installing the W . M . designate , the V . W . D . D . G . M ., Bro . Lodder , presiding . Bro . G . N . Brassey , W . M . designate , was presented by Bros . VV . P .

Moat and H . G . Wade for installation , and alter the ceremony , was duly proclaimed and saluted in the Three . Degrees . Bro . Moat gave the charges . It was a feature at this gathering that there were 26 Installed Masters present The VV . M . then installed his officers as follows : Bros . A . W . Gardner , S . W . ; O . Mays , J . W . ; H . P . Stark , Treas . ; Cecil Gardner , Sec . ; VV . H . Fenton , S . D . ; R .

H . Duder , J . D . ; T . Ingles , I . G . ; Tonge , Tyler ; S . V ' osper and J . Glenny , Stewards ; and J . Beale , Org . The addresses were delivered by Bros , the D . G . M . and Rees George . After the usual congratulations from all the respresentatives of lodges , grand and sister , the lodge was closed in peace , love , and harmony . A banquet afterwards took place at the Flagstaff Hotel .

The Theatres.

THE THEATRES .

" A Trip to the Moon " has been withdrawn from Her Majesty's , and the theatre is closed fot the present . # # * Miss Ward has given up the Olympic and gone into the provinces . The Beatrice company have taken it for the fifth time , and produced "The VVages of Sin . " This drama has proved one of their greatest successes . # #

« Mr . Wilford Morgan has recently been married at the Chapel Royal , Savoy , by the Rev . Henry White to Miss Kate Morton , eldest daughter of the genial manager of the Avenue , Bro . Charles Morton .

Ihe rolics Dramatiques has been closed during the prrsent week , " Estrella" being withdrawn till the 1 st September next . A new Italian opera , " Regina di Seozia" ( Mary Oueen of Scots ) will be produced tomorrow ( Saturday ) .

Ihe Alhambra is being- rebuilt by Bro . Deputy Brass , who is under a bond to complete the building and hand it over to the directors in October . It is likely to be the finest theatre of its kind and will again become the home of operatic music and the ballet , llro . William

Holland will again be the manager , whilst flfons " . Bertram ! will be ballet master . Mdlles . Pertoldi , Palladino , and La Bruvcrc have been engaged as premier danseuses . 'The sisters Elliott will also form part of the new company . Mr . Frederick Clay is writing the music for the opening piece .

CONSECRATION OF A NEW LODGE IN NEW ZEALAND .

The dedication of the Albion Lodge took place with full ceremony on the 30 th April last at the Oddfellows' Hall , Auckland , and was an event in the . Masonic history of the North Shore . 'The D . D . ; Rev . C . M . Nelson , D . G . Chap . ; Rev . W . Tebbs , D . G . Reg . ; N . G . Brassey , S . of W . ; Hatswell , D . of C . ; W . R . Waddel , Swd . Br . ; J . P . G . P . Pierce , R . W . P . G . M ., in the South , but all the city and surburban lodge ? were _ represented , and there was a large and influential gathering . District Grand Lodge was opened by the V . W . D . D . G . M ., Bro . Lodder , Bro . Skinner occupying the S . VV . 's chair and

Bro . Goldsbroughthatcf the J . W . Bro . J . A . Bcaleprcsided at the organ , and the whole of the musical arrangements of the ceremony throughout were under the direction of Bro . Gordon Gooch . The D . G . SECRETARY addressed the brethren on the purpose of ihe meeting . A number of gentlemen at the North Shore had thought it advisable to form a lodge , and forwarded a petition to the District Grand Master . This

was recommended by the Prince of Wales Lodge , 133 S , and the District Grand Master being satisfied had granted a charter , or warrant , of dispensation , and had requested the Deputy District Grand Master to carry out the celebration . The District Grand Secretary read the minutes of the meeting which gave rise to these proceedings , also the petition forwarded to the District Grand Master , the minute of approval from the Prince of Wales Lodge , and finally the

charter issued by the D . G . M ., Bro . G . S . Graham . The members of the new lodge then took their places in the centre of the lodge room , and signified their approval of the officers named in the charter as the first officers of the lodge . The choir sang the anthem , " Behold how good and joyful , " ana a procession was formed with Bro . Wade as Director of Ceremonies , assisted by Bros . Hastwell , Chapman , and General Gosset as Marshals , and the procession

headed by the band , marched to Trinity Church , where the Rev . C . M . Nelson , P . G . Chaplain , delivered an address . A collection amounting to £ S 13 s . was taken up in aid of the Benevolent Fund about to be started in the new lodge . 'The procession reformed and returned to the hall . The business of the gra : i I loJ . r ; i being resumed , the D . G . Chaplain offered the prayer of dedication , and the choir sang the sanctus , " Holy , holy , holy , Lord God

Almisjhty . " 'The D . G . M . delivered a brief address , and the D . G . Chaplain read a selection of scripture . The hymn " Supreme Grand Master , God of Power , " was sung , and the Grand Lodge formed in procession , and the D . G . M . consecrated the lod' ; e . The officers designate , Bras . G . N . Brassey , VV . M ., A . W . Gardner , S . W ., and O . Mays , J . W ., and the members of the Albion Lodge were presented to the D . G . M . by Bro . H . G . Wade , D . G .

Secretary , anil duly constituted a lodge for the purposes of Freemasonry . The D . G . Chaplain briefly addressed the newly-formed lodge , and after another hymn the D . G . Lodge was closed in due form . The regular meeting of the Albion Lodge was then held , for the purpose rl" installing the W . M . designate , the V . W . D . D . G . M ., Bro . Lodder , presiding . Bro . G . N . Brassey , W . M . designate , was presented by Bros . VV . P .

Moat and H . G . Wade for installation , and alter the ceremony , was duly proclaimed and saluted in the Three . Degrees . Bro . Moat gave the charges . It was a feature at this gathering that there were 26 Installed Masters present The VV . M . then installed his officers as follows : Bros . A . W . Gardner , S . W . ; O . Mays , J . W . ; H . P . Stark , Treas . ; Cecil Gardner , Sec . ; VV . H . Fenton , S . D . ; R .

H . Duder , J . D . ; T . Ingles , I . G . ; Tonge , Tyler ; S . V ' osper and J . Glenny , Stewards ; and J . Beale , Org . The addresses were delivered by Bros , the D . G . M . and Rees George . After the usual congratulations from all the respresentatives of lodges , grand and sister , the lodge was closed in peace , love , and harmony . A banquet afterwards took place at the Flagstaff Hotel .

" A Trip to the Moon " has been withdrawn from Her Majesty's , and the theatre is closed fot the present . # # * Miss Ward has given up the Olympic and gone into the provinces . The Beatrice company have taken it for the fifth time , and produced "The VVages of Sin . " This drama has proved one of their greatest successes . # #

« Mr . Wilford Morgan has recently been married at the Chapel Royal , Savoy , by the Rev . Henry White to Miss Kate Morton , eldest daughter of the genial manager of the Avenue , Bro . Charles Morton .

Ihe rolics Dramatiques has been closed during the prrsent week , " Estrella" being withdrawn till the 1 st September next . A new Italian opera , " Regina di Seozia" ( Mary Oueen of Scots ) will be produced tomorrow ( Saturday ) .

Ihe Alhambra is being- rebuilt by Bro . Deputy Brass , who is under a bond to complete the building and hand it over to the directors in October . It is likely to be the finest theatre of its kind and will again become the home of operatic music and the ballet , llro . William

Holland will again be the manager , whilst flfons " . Bertram ! will be ballet master . Mdlles . Pertoldi , Palladino , and La Bruvcrc have been engaged as premier danseuses . 'The sisters Elliott will also form part of the new company . Mr . Frederick Clay is writing the music for the opening piece .
