HENLEY LODGE ( No . 1472 ) . —An emergency meeting of the above lodge was held at the Three Crowns , North Woolwich , on the 4 th inst ., Bro . J . A . Elder , W . The lodge having been duly opened and the minutes of the previous meeting passed , the ballot was taken for Messrs . C . Turner , C . J . Jones , C . VV . Humphrey , and C . G . Harding , and being unanimous , those gentlemen were initiated in the Craft by the VV . M . in a most able

manner . Bros . Knight , Lewis , and Tulford were also raised by the W . M . lt was then unanimously decided that a summer banquet should take place at Gravesend on the third Tuesday of the current month , and a Committee comprising thc principal officers of the lodge , with Bros . Savage and Lewis , were empowered to make the necessary

arrangements . The lodge was then closed , and one of Bro . West ' s petite suppers enjoyed . On account of the lateness of the hour before the work was done , there was no time for more than a parting glass , and then thc brethren went their several ways , with pleasant anticipations of an enjoyable outing on the date above mentioned .

brother . Subsequently Bro . H . J . Anderson was examined as a candidate for the Second Degree and in due course was duly passed to the Degree of F . C . John's " has for many years held a high position in the province of West Lancashire , both with regard to its numerical strength and its Masonic influences ; and amongst its members will be found several brethren who , as a recognition of their labours in the cause of charity and the Craft , have been honoured by the Prov . , Bro . Alpass expressed his gratification that his name should have been coupled with the toast . An office in Grand Lodge was the highest honour to which a Mason could aspire . From what he had seen of the Grand Lodge working he could assure the brethren that the officers of Grand Lodge , one and all , devoted much time and labour to its affairs , so that the business might be carried on in a

manner satisfactory to the Craft in general . He must more especially mention among those officers their own esteemed and popular Provincial Grand Master , the Earl of Lathom , who set an example worthy of imitation by all . He congratulated Lodge No . 1313 , on its sound financial

position , and was especially pleased to see such a promising set of officers as those invested that day . He felt sure that under the guidance of the VV . M . and his subordinates the lodge would go on and prosper . "The Provincial Grand Oflicers "was proposed by thc VV . M ., and heartily received . Bro . G . Piatt , P . M ., P . P . G . D .
