were formed in an institution such as this . ( Applause . ) There was many a good habit which had prevented a boy falling into bad company , or taking the wrong side of the road instead of the right , which , if he had been brought up in bad or coarse habits , would have led him into grief and sorrow . ( Hear , hear . ) Such was her estimate of an institution like this which , by what was proposed in the future , and through the support which , il not immediately ,
was perfectly certain soon to be accorded by such an influential body as the Masonic Craft , would redound not only to the credit of the Order , but to the good of mankind in general , and more particularly to the good of the boys who were educated there . She could only add her own poor thanks for the honour that had been paid to her by the body of Freemasons on this and on other occasions , and to say how highly that honour had been valued by her . ( Cheers . )
Bro . Binckes then presented the four little " Lewises " who had carried the " Sacred Law " ( the Bible ) in the procession , each of whom was presented with a copy , the gift of Bro . C umberland . The choir then sang " All people that on earth on dwell , " and the proceedings concluded with a prayer offered by the Chaplain .
Subsequently the Baroness and her friends , and a company of between loo and 200 other guests , were entertained at luncheon in the new hall , and afterwards a considerable list of toasts—loyal , Masonic , and complimentary —were proposed and heartily responded to . The toast to " Her Ladyship's Health" was responded to by Bro . Burdett-Coutts . In Bro . Binckes ' reply to the toast proposed to " The Success of the Boys' School , " he
informed the guests that the amount collected that day , including £ 105 bountifully given by her ladyship , and a similar sum by their chairman ) Bro . Godson , amounted to £ 1100 , but that although this fell far short of the sum that was required , he felt a confident hope that before Christmas the full sum would be provided by the Craft at large , to whose g-enerosity he had never yet had to appeal in vain .
The bibles presented by Bro . Cumberland , already referred to , contai ned the following inscription : — " Royal Masonic Institution for Boys . To commemorate the placing in position the corner stone of the Preparatory School Buildings , at Wood Green , on Tuesday , nth August , 1 S 85 , by the Baroness Burdett-Coutts . This bible is presented to , one of the four ' Lewises ' who assisted in carrying the volume of the Sacred Law , by Bro .

The Bye-laws Revision Committee reported that the revision of the bye-laws of the province was still deferred , through the revision of the bye-laws of the Supreme Grand Chapter not having yet been completed . The members of the Revision Committee were re-elected to carry out the proposed revision when the Supreme Grand Chapter laws were settled .

This also was carried unanimously , and a vote of thanks having been accorded to the King Harold ( Craft ) Lodge for the use of its furniture , and several letters o ( apology for non-attendance having been read , lodge was
closed after the usual manner . A banquet , at which Bro . Major Gardiner , W . M ., presided , was subsequently held , and , on the removal of the cloth , the usual array of toasts were given and honoured .

Cumberland , P . G . O . ; Geo . Mickley , G . J . D . ; R . Berridge , G . D . C . ; E . J . Hoare , G . Org . ; and J . L . Mather , P . M ., be elected honorary members of the lodge . The motion was carried by acclamation .
Bro . C . F " . MATIER proposed , and Bro . C . H . DRIVER seconded , the following resolution , namely : " That the Rose and Lily Lodge do humbly pray the M . W . G . Master to constitute the lodges in the county of Hertfordshire info a Provincial Grand Lodge , and that the lodge do hereby recommend the R . W . Bro . Thomas FYederick Halsey , Esq ., M . P ., Past Grand Junior Wat den , to be the Provincial Grand Master . "
This also was carried unanimously , and a vote of thanks having been accorded to the King Harold ( Craft ) Lodge for the use of its furniture , and several letters o ( apology for non-attendance having been read , lodge was
closed after the usual manner . A banquet , at which Bro . Major Gardiner , W . M ., presided , was subsequently held , and , on the removal of the cloth , the usual array of toasts were given and honoured .
