The lair vvas assumed by Bro . Col . Radcliffe , P . M ., who intailed the VV . M . elect , Bro . John Barnett , jun ., in jL presence of a Board of 10 Installed Masters . The following officers were appointed , and vvith the ex-.. ntlnn of four unavoidably absent , were invested : Bros .

excellent delivery of the customary addresses . I he W . M . presented a Past Master ' s jewel to Bro . Henry Cox , I . P . M ., in recognition of his especial services and as a mark of esteem by the brethren for his kindliness of spirit and genial manner . The W . M . hoped that the affection the brethren had for the I . P . M . was reciprocated , and that he would wear the jewel vvith

pleasure . Letters of regret for non-attendance vvere announced from Bros . Lord Henniker , Col . Sir Francis Burdett , Bart ., Lord Dungarvan , Augustus Harris , and others . The W . M ., on behalf of the lodge , congratulated Bro . C . Hammerton on his appointment as D . P . G . M ., and thanked

him for his attendance that evening . _ The D . P . G . M . made a suitable acknowledgment , expressing the hope that he would speedily become acquainted with those of the members vvith whom he had not been previously acquainted . Lodge vvas closed , and an excellent banquet vvas subsequently enjoyed at the Freemasons' Tavern .

The usual toasts vvere afterwards heartily honoured . Bro . Lennox Browne , G . Stwd ., replying for " The Grand Officers , " said that in this Order the _ Grand Stewards vvere looked upon as Grand Officers , vvhich vvas not an honour accorded in the Craft , and , therefore , he was hardly alive to the dignity of the oflice . He had taken

great interest in Mark Masonry as in the Craft , and was grateful for the office he held , and hoped to do more for it in the future . The Grand Officers did all they could to advance Mark Masonry , for it vvas a beautiful Order , and everyone who joined it felt compelled to bring others in , for it stimulated their benevolence and made them better men .

The VV . M . then proposed "The Prov . G . M . and Prov . Grand Officers , Present and Past , " and remarked that the members of the lodge vvere loyal to their respected chief , and at all times welcomed Prov . Grand Officers . Bro . C . Hammerton , Dep . P . G . M ., in response , said the W . M . had spoken truly of the Prov . Grand Master as one worthy to be known as a good Mason , and he vvas pleased to accept office from Sir Francis Burdett as Deputy Prov .

Grand Master . He took office when the province was first organised as Prov . Grand Secretary , and after some years was elected Prov . Grand Treasurer , and had now become the Deputy Prov . Grand Master . It vvas a great pleasure ' 0 be present that evening and see the working so satisfactoril y done . He had worked harmoniously with them in the province for some years , and hoped to have the same pleasure for many years to come .

Bro . H . Cox , I . P . M ., gave "The W . M ., " and said they had seen the efficient manner in vvhich Bro . John Barnett , jun ., had invested his officers and presided at the banquet table . There vvas no doubt that those vvho attended the meetings during the ensuing year would have a treat in b'ore , as there would probably be several candidates for advancement .

"ro . John Barnett , jun ., Prov . G . M . O ., W . M ., said he was obliged to the I . P . M . for the kind manner in vvhich the l ° ast had been proposed . He vvas delighted to . occupy his Present position , and trusted that the cordiality vvhich had fisted before would follow him during his year and after c left the chair . Sec . 2321 , vvhich being in his favour he vvas advanced

to the Degree of a M . M . M . by Bro . Schott , the acting W . M ., assisted by Bro .. Whiteley , P . P . G . D . Upon the scroll being taken Bro . Norfolk , S . VV ., vvas unanimously W . M . for the ensuing year , and in like manner Bro . Althorp vvas re-elected Treasurer ; both brethren suitably acknowledged the honour conferred on them . Bro . Hill was re-elected Tyler .

The lodge vvas then closed for the vacation and the brethren adjourned to refreshment , after which the usual loyal and Masonic toasts vvere duly acknowledged , during which Bro . Schott , I . P . M ., warmly advocated the support of the brethren to the Mark Benevolent Fund , and vvith recitations and songs a pleasant evening was spent , Bro . Lamb evoking much merriment by one of his happy and funny stump orations .

and Bro Steele having answered the usual questions , vvas entrusted . The lodge vvas opened in the Third Degree , and Bro . Steele duly raised to the Degree of M . M . The W . M . rose for the first time , and dues vvere collected . The W . M . rose for the second time , and Bro . Laker vvas elected VV . M . for the next meeting . The VV . Kirby then took the chair and opened the lodge in the Third Degree , and resuming in the Second , proceeded to rehearse the ceremony of installation , Bro . J . B . Corpe acting as Master elect . Imlay vvas , by the vote of the members , elected Master for the ensuing meeting . He appointed his officers in rotation , and announced that the work would be the ceremony of passing , vvith an explanation of the tracingboard , and the ist Section of the Third Lecture . I 3 tgj also that sufficient emphasis had not been given to the fact that Bro . J . P . Fitzgerald , P . M . 1364 , 216 S , P . Z . 22 , vvas largely associated vvith the reorganisation of the ritual . The following letter vvas read :

" Holland Lodge , Regent ' s Park , N . VV ., " 24 th April , 1891 . " My dear Manuel , " I have heard vvith much satisfaction of the birth of the Urban Lodge of Instruction . " I understand one of your by-laws requires two attendances before a brother other than one of 1196 , can become a candidate for election .

Having regard to my present state of health I cannot undertake the two attendances . " But I have been with you in spirit at the two meetings already held . If the brethren will accept that as a qualification in favour of a young Mason , rising Si years , please propose me at your meeting to-morrow , to vvhich , as to all

Thereon the requisite nomination and seconding were made vvith acclamation . Bro . Charles Grevile Prideaux is a Q . C , Recorder of Bristol , Bencher , Past Treasurer and Honorary Librarian of Lincoln ' s Inn , and obtained a First Class at Balliol jn 1 S 34 . fhe W . M . rose for the second

time . Letters of regret at inability to be present were read from Bros . Fred . Eckstein , P . M ., J . Harcourt Lee , P . M ., B . Simpkins , and C . J . Dear , all of ng 5 . The W . M . rose for the third time , and the lodge vvas closed , and the meeting vvas adjourned to the third week in September next .

FINSBURY PARK LODGE ( No . i 2 SS ) .-The usual weekly meeting of this lodge vvas held on Saturday , the 25 th ult ., at the Cock Tavern , Highbury , when there vvas a numerous attendance of brethren , it being the last for the season of the monthly meetings when the ceremonies are worked vvith full musical accompaniment , which has proved such an attractive and successful feature of this lodge of instruction .

The chair vvas occupied , as is usual on these occasions , by Bro . H . Hill , P . M . 1305 , Preceptor . There vvere also present Bros . Gush , P . M . 1541 , S . VV . ; Burrow , P . M . 12 SS J T . G . Hodges , P . M . 1695 , as I . P . M . j VV . Hancock , 21 9 , Preceptor 1471 , S . D . j G . J . Reed , S . W . 1695 , J . D . j and Jenkins , P . M . S 60 , I . G . Bro . Macfarlane , Org ., presided at the organ . The choir consisted

of Bros . Powell , Reynolds , Smith , Glaisger , and Inder . The ceremony worked being the Third Degree , vvhich wasrendered by the VV . M . in a most effective manner , Bro . Walkden being candidate . On rising for the third time Bro . T . H . Mullord , W . M . of the mother lodge , in a veryappropriate speech presented Bro . H . Hill , Preceptor , om behalf of the members of the lod ge of instruction vvith a .

gold chain as a mark of their regard and esteem for his kind care and instruction as their Preceptor , and his zeal in promoting the welfare and popularity of the lodge of : instruction by originating these musical meetings . The-Committee was guided in its choice of a present by the

fact that Bro . H . Hill , P . M . 1305 , had been presented some few weeks ago with a gold watch by the members of the Highgate Lodge of Instruction , which is a further proof , if one were needed , of his popularity . Bro . Hill expressed his thanks to the brethren for their handsome present , and the lodge vvas closed .

HYDE PARK LODGE ( No . i 25 ) .-A meeting vvas held on Monday , the 27 th ult ., at the Porchester Hotel , Leinster-place , Cleveland-square , Paddington , VV ., when there were present Bros . VV . ceremony of raising vvas rehearsed , Bro . Heath being the candidate . The lodge vvas resumed to the First Degree . Bro . Conway was elected VV . M . for the next meeting—the officers to be in rotation . After " Hearty good wishes , " the lodge was closed .

M ., in recognition of his especial services and as a mark of esteem by the brethren for his kindliness of spirit and genial manner . The W . M . hoped that the affection the brethren had for the I . P . M . was reciprocated , and that he would wear the jewel vvith

pleasure . Letters of regret for non-attendance vvere announced from Bros . Lord Henniker , Col . Sir Francis Burdett , Bart ., Lord Dungarvan , Augustus Harris , and others . The W . M ., on behalf of the lodge , congratulated Bro . C . Hammerton on his appointment as D . P . G . M ., and thanked

him for his attendance that evening . _ The D . P . G . M . made a suitable acknowledgment , expressing the hope that he would speedily become acquainted with those of the members vvith whom he had not been previously acquainted . Lodge vvas closed , and an excellent banquet vvas subsequently enjoyed at the Freemasons' Tavern .

The usual toasts vvere afterwards heartily honoured . Bro . Lennox Browne , G . Stwd ., replying for " The Grand Officers , " said that in this Order the _ Grand Stewards vvere looked upon as Grand Officers , vvhich vvas not an honour accorded in the Craft , and , therefore , he was hardly alive to the dignity of the oflice . He had taken

great interest in Mark Masonry as in the Craft , and was grateful for the office he held , and hoped to do more for it in the future . The Grand Officers did all they could to advance Mark Masonry , for it vvas a beautiful Order , and everyone who joined it felt compelled to bring others in , for it stimulated their benevolence and made them better men .

The VV . M . then proposed "The Prov . G . M . and Prov . Grand Officers , Present and Past , " and remarked that the members of the lodge vvere loyal to their respected chief , and at all times welcomed Prov . Grand Officers . Bro . C . Hammerton , Dep . P . G . M ., in response , said the W . M . had spoken truly of the Prov . Grand Master as one worthy to be known as a good Mason , and he vvas pleased to accept office from Sir Francis Burdett as Deputy Prov .

Grand Master . He took office when the province was first organised as Prov . Grand Secretary , and after some years was elected Prov . Grand Treasurer , and had now become the Deputy Prov . Grand Master . It vvas a great pleasure ' 0 be present that evening and see the working so satisfactoril y done . He had worked harmoniously with them in the province for some years , and hoped to have the same pleasure for many years to come .

Bro . H . Cox , I . P . M ., gave "The W . M ., " and said they had seen the efficient manner in vvhich Bro . John Barnett , jun ., had invested his officers and presided at the banquet table . There vvas no doubt that those vvho attended the meetings during the ensuing year would have a treat in b'ore , as there would probably be several candidates for advancement .

FINSBURY PARK LODGE ( No . i 2 SS ) .-The usual weekly meeting of this lodge vvas held on Saturday , the 25 th ult ., at the Cock Tavern , Highbury , when there vvas a numerous attendance of brethren , it being the last for the season of the monthly meetings when the ceremonies are worked vvith full musical accompaniment , which has proved such an attractive and successful feature of this lodge of instruction .

gold chain as a mark of their regard and esteem for his kind care and instruction as their Preceptor , and his zeal in promoting the welfare and popularity of the lodge of : instruction by originating these musical meetings . The-Committee was guided in its choice of a present by the

fact that Bro . H . Hill , P . M . 1305 , had been presented some few weeks ago with a gold watch by the members of the Highgate Lodge of Instruction , which is a further proof , if one were needed , of his popularity . Bro . Hill expressed his thanks to the brethren for their handsome present , and the lodge vvas closed .
