their kindness very sincerely indeed . With regard to -the position of Grand Treasurer he should like to say a few words . He now stood in that proud position , and to say that the present was the happiest moment of his life , very feebly and very imperfectly expressed what he felt . It was a great thing indeed to he the Grand Treasurer of England , and represent . some 100 , 000 good men and true who were his constituents . He wished to say again how

delig hted he was to see so large a company present , more especially as every lodge and chapter with which he was connected was well represented , and he thanked them all for paying this tribute of their regard and esteem . The approbation of his fellow men had been always the great desire of his heart—the one thing above all others he had sought—and he had a right to say , when he saw that sp lendid gathering , that to some extent he had succeeded . There was a good deal he should like to say for his heart was brim full of gratitude for the great

kindness he had received , and he would that he could express it in the Way he should wish . He would ask them to take the will for the deed and believe that his thankfulness knew no bounds . The success of the evening reflected the greatest credit on the Committee and his heart went out to them in grateful thanks . With all his heart and soul he thanked them most sincerely and heartily for their kindness , and for coming there to show by their presence the esteem and respect they had for George Everett .

" The Visitors" was given by Bro . W . J . FERGUSON , and replied to by Bros , R . EVE , F . BINCKES , C . F . HOGARD , J . M . MCLEOD , J . GLASS , P . M ., and W . H B AILEY . ancient form , and the minutes having been read and confirmed , the roll of lodges was called over and responded to .

The PROV . GRAND MASTER then said that before entering upon the business of the day it vvas his duty to refer to a loss sustained since the last meeting by Grand Lodge of

England , by the Provincial Grand Lodge of Staffordshire , and the Craft generally by the death of the Most Worshipful Pro Grand Master , the Earl of Carnarvon . It was now too late

to take any action outside the province , but it was not too late to place on record the fact , and the heartfelt sympathy which every Staffordshire Mason felt , and as far as practicable

manifested , vvith all the members of the late earl's family in their terrible and irreparable bereavement , and at the same time to testify to the zeal ,

courtesy , talent , and worth of the late Pro Grand Master , which would ever be held in grateful remembrance by all the Masons of England whom he served so faithfully and well .

Bro . C . A . NEVVNHAJI , Prov . Grand Treasurer , then submitted an abstract of the Prov . Grand Lodge accounts , which showed a balance of £ 62 8 s . 2 d . to be carried forward . The accounts were adopted , and ordered to be entered on the minute .-.

Bro . Newnham vvas unanimousl y re-elected Prov . Grand Treasurer . The PROV . GRAND MASTKI . , in his annual address , described the

state of Masonry in the provii . ce as being very satisfactory . Since the last meeting of Provincial Giand Lodge he had attended no less than fifty-two Masonic meetings in the province . He submitted the

desirability of appointing Lodge Secretaries for a term of at least three years ; also that he was about to qualify as a Vice-President of the three Masonic Charitable Institutions . He urged the sending of subscriptions and reports of meetings to the Freemason , as th e province ought to be more en evidence than it then was . Subsequently he referred to several points affecting the internal government and working of the lodges , and concluded his address with an expression of his warmest thanks to the officers and brethren of the different lodges for their

unvarying kindness and courtesy towards himself , especially by their hearty and absolutely unanimous adoption of his Instruction and Ritual schemes , and stating that their best thanks were due to Bro . Sudlow . The following brethren were appointed Prov . Grand Officers for the year : Bro . J . A . Bindley ... ... ... ... D . P . G . M . „ W . Webberley , 546 ... ... ... ... Prov . S . G . ancient form , and the minutes having been read and confirmed , the roll of lodges was called over and responded to .

J . A . Bindley ... ... ... ... D . P . G . M . „ W . Webberley , 546 ... ... ... ... Prov . S . G .
