years attainment of that end , Bro . Stevens proceeded with his lecture , commencing xvith the opening of the Jouge he continued through the whole ceremony of initiation , explaining in a clear and lucid manner many points of interest , showing divergencies in various rituals as practised by lodges in different parts of the country , and giving good and

He was happy to find that the xvorking of Eccleston Lodge xvas very little at variance xvith the lecturer ' s ideas ; in essentials , indeed , he could trace no difference , but only in minor matters of detail , to which serious importance could not be attached .
Bro . W . Vincent , P . AL 1 G 24 , seconded the resolution , expressing a general concurrence in the remarks of the proposer . The resolution having been carried by acclamation , the W . AL took occasion to thank Bro . Stevens , on behalf of all the brethren , for his services . As Preceptor of the lodge he xvas gratified to find that the Eccleston
Lodge working xvas so near perfection in the eyes of so distinguished a brother . After some introductory remarks on the desirability of unity of xvorking the ceremonials of the Craft , and refcring to efforts xvhich hid been made during a number of for the
years attainment of that end , Bro . Stevens proceeded with his lecture , commencing xvith the opening of the Jouge he continued through the whole ceremony of initiation , explaining in a clear and lucid manner many points of interest , showing divergencies in various rituals as practised by lodges in different parts of the country , and giving good and
substantial reasons for correcting fallacies therein . The able and eloquent lecturer xvas listened to with wrapt attention for a space of two hours by an appreciative and delighted audience . At the conclusion of the lecture Bro . J . C . I'lattely , P . AL 1624 , proposed a most cordial vote of thanks to Bro . James Stevens , P . instruction . In doing so he expressed the satisfaction and delight of the brethren in listening to the lecture .
Although he could not fall in with all his viexvs on minor points , yet he xvas prepared to give consideration to such as xvould certainly tend to correct fallacies that may have crept in , without radically affecting the system of xvorking that had been adopted by the lodge since its foundation .
