whose presence the W . M . elect was duly installed into the chair of K . S . On the readmittance of the brethren , the newly-installed W . M . was proclaimed and saluted in the Three Degrees , according to ancient custom , and subsequently Bro . Mollindinia invested his officers , of whom the following is a list : Bros . Reed , S . W . ; Mitchell , J . W . ; Leins , P . M ., P . Z ., Treas . ; Ferry , P . M ., Sec . ; Smith , S . D . ; Fox , J . D . ; SalterI . G . ; Lovell , D . C ; Swire ,
, Asst . D . C . ; Chamberlayn , W . S . ; Clements , Asst . W . S . ; and Goddard , P . M ., Tyler . On the completion of the investiture of officers , Bro . Leins delivered the customary addresses to the W . M ., the Wardens , and the general body of the brethren in a very able and impressive manner . The lodge was then closed in due form , and the brethren of the lodge and their guests adjourned to the banquet
room . When the excellent dinner provided , which was admirably served , was over , the customary list of loyal and Masonic toasts was taken in hand by the W . M ., who proposed "The Queen and the Craft , " "The M . W . G . Master , " and " The Grand Officers , " introducing with a few brief but cheery sentences , and leaving it to the brethren to give them a hearty reception , which they certainly did .
Bro . Eade , I . P . M ., then rose and said that a very pleasing duty now devolved upon him , namely , the duty of proposing to them to drink to " The Health , Success , and Happiness of their Newly-installed W . M ., Bro . Mollindinia . " Most of those present knew that their Bro . Mollindinia was one of the founders of the Lodge of Perseverance , and that he had at its commencement worked very assiduously as its Secretary . It was true he had not been through
every office in the lodge ; but he was nevertheless an excellent Mason , and thoroughly qualified to discharge the duties appertaining to the position of W . M . However , ' they all of them knew Bro . Mollindinia so well , that it was useless for Wm ( Bio . Eade ) to continue eulogising him . He should therefore content himself with proposing the health of Bro . Mollindinia , and expressing the hope that his reign over the lodge during the next 12 months might
be a very prosperous one . Bro . Mollindinia , whose rising was greeted with a round of applause , said that he thanked them very kindly , sincerely and earnestly , the Immediate Past Master for the kind words with which he had introduced the toast , and the brethren for the very hearty manner in which they had received it . He felt the responsibility of the position he held , he felt that the lodge ought
to progress , and he was anxious to impart a little more motion to it . They were a young lodge and had gone on very well up to now , but they must have some new blood brought in . He hoped that they would give him an exceedingly busy time during his year . He was prepared to do the work , but they must give him the work to do . He thanked them again very sincerely for the hearty way in which they had received the toast .
The next toast was that of " The Visitors , " that toast needed only a very brief introduction from the Master of the Lodge of Perseverance . They had the feeling that they did not know what they should do without the visitors , and they were always most anxious to g ive their visitors a real good hearty reception , and to give them the right hand of fellowship . Several visitors acknowledged the compliment that had
been paid them , among others Bro . Keeble , I . P . M . of the Great City Lodge , after thanking the brethren for the manner in which the toast had been proposed and received , said that he had almost come to consider himself part and parcel of their installation ceremony , he had been there so often , five or six years at least . He hoped that the lodge would continue to prosper and that he might be permitted to come among them again on similar occasions .
The W . M . then said that he had a very pleasing duty to perform and a very pleasant toast to propose . The toast was to "The Health of the I . P . M . of the Lodge of Perseverance , Bro . P . M . Eade , " who had gone through his 12 months of office with a great deal of skill , although the work had not been heavy . Bro . Eade had done well for the lodge , and in the name of the brethren he ( Bro . Mollindinia ) in pinning it upon his breast would express
the hope that Bro . Eade would for many years wear it in the lodge , and that it would be handed down to his children and his children ' s children as an ornament , which can only be gained by devoting a great deal of time and trouble to a lodge of this kind . He hoped that Bro . Eade would have thebest of health to wear that jewel to the utmost span of life . Bro . Eade said it was with feelings of very deep
gratification that he rose to return thanks for thc toast which had just been proposed in such flattering language , and for the very handsome jewel wliich had been presented to him . Hc had had but little work to do , and feared that he had not done sufficient to entitle him to such a memento of his year of office . He was not a good speech maker he said , and would very much rather sing them a song than make them a speech , and he would therefore only again thank them for
the honour they had done him . The W . M . said the next toast was " The Installing Past Master , Bro . Leins , " a name which he need only mention to elicit a cordial greeting , that Bro . Lewis was entitled to as father of the lodge , as a friend to Masonry , and as his ( the speaker's ) father . Bro . Leins was father of many children , and now as his Installing Master be wished him a good greeting and gave them the good health of Bro .
Leins . Bro . Leins said he rose with a great deal of pleasure to return thanks for the very kind way in which his health had been proposed by the W . M ., and the kind way in which it had been received . He did not think that he deserved that to the fullest extent . However , he was proud indeed in one way to have the opportunity to tell them that he had had the pleasure to initiate the W . M ., and that they had
worked together harmoniously and conscientiously , and like good brethren for twelve years ; and now he had had the pleasure and gratification to install Bro . Mollindinia into the chair of K . S . Bro . Mollindinia was a true and faithful brother . If every two brothers worked faithfully together , as they had done , there would not be so much harm done as there was at the present time . Let them all strive to
work harmoniously together in future as their W . M . and himself had worked for so wany years . And he hoped that they might long be spared to see the train of P . Ms , grow larger and larger . And , moreover , if the remarks he had made had the desired effect , and they were able to complete their musical arrangements , then they could have a great deal of harmony . As father of thc
