He concluded by referring to the serious illness of the Prov . Grand Master , Bro . T . VV . Tew , P . G . D . of England , feeling that he vvas expressing the desire and hope of all the brethren that their esteemed Prov . G . Master might soon be restored to them . The remaining business of the lodge vvas then completed , and the Iodg * e was closed . The installation banquet and Festival of St . John was

held immediately afterwards , at vvhich about 90 of the brethren were present , when the Masonic toasts were given and responded to in a most enthusiastic manner . A ter the Worshipful Muster had proposed " The Queen and the Craft , " and the tuast had been most heartily received by the brethren , The Worshipful Master proposed "The M . W . G . M . ancl Officers of Grand Lodge . Present and Past , " and said the

lodge appreciated the honour of the presence of several Grand Officers . In responding to the toast , Bro . Dr . Smyth , Past Grand Chaplain of England , after mentioning that Fidelity was the first English lodge he joined on his return from India , said that he felt especial pleasure in being present on that suspicious occasion , and in an eloquent address referred to

the great and important histories and Masonic events which had happened during the century in which the lodge , had had its career , specially referring to the important and inestimable benefits vvhich had resulted to the Craft by the Union and formation of the present Grand Lodge , vvhich occurred 21 years after the constitution of the Lodge of Fidelity , No . 2 S 9 . He concluded by wishing thc lodge

many centuries of equal prosperity . Bro . VV . F . Smithson , P . G . D . Eng ., also replied to the toast , and mentioned his long and p leasurable associations with the members of Fidelity , and spoke at length upon the splendid position to which the Masonic Charities had attained . Bro . H . Smith , P . G . D . England , D . P . G . M ., in replying to the toast of "The Provincial Grand Lodge , " referred to

the many members of Lodge 2 S 9 who had been markedly associated with Provincial Grand Lodge , amongst whom he might mention Lord Pollingron , afterwards Earl Mexborough , who as Prov . Grand Master organised the present Prov . Grand Lodgeof West Yorkshire about 1 S 23 ; Bro . Chas . Lee , his Deputy ; Bro . J . Hargreaves , his Secretary ; Bro . John Young , and many others vvith whom he had been

intimately associated during so many years , and who had worked so industriously forthe benefit of Freemasonry in the Province of West Yorkshire . The VV . M , in proposing "The Health of the Installing Master , Bro . Glover , " referred in most feeling and affectionate terms to the long Masonic career through vvhich they had worked together , and felt a confidence that the same

would be life long . The Installing Master , Bro . D . R . Glover , in acknowledging the toast , said he not only considered it a great honour to act as Installing Master on so important an occasion in the history of Fidelity Lodge , but he had had especial pleasure in placing in the chair Bro . VVilson , whom he had known so long , and whose friendship he so highly valued ,

and said he was sure that all the brethren would share his regret that the I . P . M ., Bro . A . VV . Chapman , who , in the ordinary course would have acted as Installing Master , was unavoidably absent . Bro . VV . H . Porritt , P . M ., P . P . G . W . of N . and E . Yorks , proposed the toast of " The VVorshipful Master , " and said he felt it a great privilege after a long * absence from this ,

his mother lodge , to have that which vvas the toast of the evening entrusted to him , but although he had not been present for so long a time , he always felt a deep interest in its working and government . He had especial pleasure in seeing Bro . R . VVilson placed in the chair tor this important year , as he might claim to have been the source through which Bro . Wilson vvas admitted into the Order , and he felt

confident that vvith so worthy a brother P . M . at the helm "Old Fidelity" would have a prosperous and happy career . Bro . Porritt then referred to many incidents which vvere peculiarly interesting to the brethren of the lodge . The Worshipful Master , on rising to respond , received a prolonged and enthusiastic ovation . He said that he felt that he could scarcely convey to them in words his

appreciation of the high honour they had done him in electing him by a unanimous vote W . M . of the lodg ' e on such an important occasion as itscentenary . He accepted that high position vvith a full knowledge of its great responsibilities , and said he would do his best to promote the welfare of the lodge and make its centenary year a bright and happy one . He'said that he should like it to be particularly marked by

the exercise of every true Matonic virtue and especially by benevolence and hospitality , and more particularly in rendering assistance to every needy brother and welcoming any old brethren of the lodge amongst them who might have suffered misfortune . He again thanked the brethren for the honour they had done him . The VVorshipful Master then proposed the toast of " The

Worshipful Masters of the Leeds Lodges and Visiting Brethren , " to vvhich Bros . Thos . Atkinson , VV . M . 206 9 , and D . R . VV . Porritt , P . P . G . W ., responded . The latter , who had recently returned from Manitoba , said that it vvas one of his must pleasurable Masonic experiences in being present on an occasion so memorable . The Worshipful Master drew the special attention of the

brethren to the fact that the retiring officers had voluntarily sacrificed any promotion they might naturally have expected in order that the centenary year of the lodge should be marked by the whole of the offices in the lodge being filled by Past Masters , and called upon Bro . Chas . A . Braim , the retiring S . VV ., to propose the next toast . Bro . Chas . A . Braim , Past S . W ., in proposing " The

Health of the Past Masters and Officers of the Lodge , " said that representing the outgoing officers , he had pleasure in proposing the health of the newly-appointed ones , and assured the brethren that he and his fellow Past Officers and junior brethren had felt that if possible the centenary year should be conspicuously marked by the lodge being governed and officered by Past Masters , and they felt that

that would add dignity and lustre to the lodge and they were acting for its welfare , and in a few humorous remarks concluded by saying that the officers being all Past Masters they would have no one to appeal to but the old officers , and he promised on their behalf to help the Past Masters along . The Tyler's toast followed .

During the evening a programme of charming and highclass music was gone through , consisting of instrumental trios , songs , & rc , given by Bros . Dr . Spark , P . P . G . Org . ; Blagbro' ( tenor ) , Alf . Scarth ( bass ) , J . Binns , ] . VV . Ramsden , J . P . Mann ( violin ) , and A . Giesing ( violoncello ) . The banquet , provided by Bro . A . Powolny , P . P . Reports Of Masonic Meetings.
