The encampment was then closed , and a banquet followed . The acting E . C . gave the toasts briefly but to the point . In response to the toast of his health , the newly-installed Sir Knight B . Johnson made an effective and telling speech .

The toast of " the E . C elect drew in reply from Sir Knight Nelson Prower a speech of some merit , in which , after having spoken of the encampment in high terms , he touched upon the great beauties of the Degree , and the vein of true Christianity running throughout its impressive ritual , which had been so well rendered by Sir Knight L . Steele that evening .

" The Health of the Past Commanders " was acknowledged by Sir Knights H . J . Lardner , F . W . Driver , and G . Graveley , and " The Officers " by Sir Knights Hills , Fillingham , and Egbert Roberts . During the evening the members were agreeably entertained by the powerful vocal efforts of Sir Knight Egbert Roberts , and the intelligent readings of Sir Knights R . C . Fillingham and F . VV . Driver .

The toast of " the E . C elect drew in reply from Sir Knight Nelson Prower a speech of some merit , in which , after having spoken of the encampment in high terms , he touched upon the great beauties of the Degree , and the vein of true Christianity running throughout its impressive ritual , which had been so well rendered by Sir Knight L . Steele that evening .

" The Health of the Past Commanders " was acknowledged by Sir Knights H . J . Lardner , F . W . Driver , and G . Graveley , and " The Officers " by Sir Knights Hills , Fillingham , and Egbert Roberts . During the evening the members were agreeably entertained by the powerful vocal efforts of Sir Knight Egbert Roberts , and the intelligent readings of Sir Knights R . C . Fillingham and F . VV . Driver .
