St . Andrew ' s Chapter , comprising Comps . Denholm , Z . ; J . McNaught Campbell , l . P . Z . ; F . VV . Larter , H . ; and J . Mclnnes , P . Z ., who were rtceived with honours . The chapter having been opened , the minutes of the previous meeting were read and sanctioned , after which apologies for absence were intimated from Comps . J . Dalrymple Duncan , P . Z ., Grand Depute Z . ; j . D .

Hedderwick , Z . 1 S 9 ; E . Macbean . l . P . Z . ; VV . S . Hunter , l . P . Z . ; Thomas Davison , and j . O . Stewart . The Auditors' report of the financial position and the chapter property having been submitted and approved , and the usual business of the chapter having been disposed of , the M . E . Z . declared all the offices vacant . The following were then unanimously elected : Comps . Jas . Booth , M . E . Z . ;

Jas . A . S . Kerr , M . E . H . ; T . R . Richards , M . E . J , j Uobt . Jackson , Scribe E . ; Robt . Campbell , Scribe N . ; Robt . Morrison , Treas . ; P . Robertson , ist Soj . ; J . Comp . Major F . W . Allan , the Prov . Grand Superintendent over the Lower Ward of Lanarkshire , was then announced , and received by the companions under the arch in a manner suitable to his rank . The M . E . Z . then asked him to accept the emblems of office , and to discharge the duty of installing the office-bearers elected for the ensuing year . Comp . Allan very gracefully paid a high tribute to the capability of Comp . Booth to retain the chair . There-

upon Comp . Booth expressedfthe honour conferred upon the chapter by his visit . Comp . Allan then proceeded to robe and install the office-bearers in their respective offices , after which he delivered them a most impressive address , enforcing the obligation in which they stood to their First Principal , and that the success of the chapter , he need hardly say , would be equal , if not greater than in the past .

This chapter he had always taken a deep interest in , and it was by the merest accident that it was not his mother chapter . The chapter with which he was connected ( Princes , No . 1 S 9 ) was the daughter of chapter 50 . The address was very attentively listened to , and at its conclusion Comp . Booth , addressing Comp . Allan , said that the companions , constrained by a sense of duty , wished to

signify their appreciation of the long and valued services of Comp . R . Morrison to the chapter by asking him to accept a P . Z . 's jewel . He was the most devoted member in their records ; in fact , there was no companion in the chapter whom they could entrust to discharge the duties of any office ( in the case of emergency ) in a more efficient manner . Comp . Allan , in accepting the duty of presenting the jewel to Comp . Morrison , said that last January , when

visiting the chapter in his official capacity , he had the honour of presenting jewels to two Past First Principals , Comps . Macbean and Hunter , as a token of respect and appreciation of their services to the chapter . Little did he think that he would be invited to perform such a pleasing duty agam so soon . In this instance Comp . Richards had placed in his hands the most remarkable record of services it had been his lot

to see . Comp . Morrison was exalted in the chapter in 1 S 74 . In 1 S 75 he was elected to a minor office , and from that date , having filled the various offices up to the highest in the gift of the chapter , he might , like many others , have considered that his duty of active service was closed ; but his fidelity to the chapter ' s interests has never abated , and he has been re-elected to the office of Treasurer this year .

He commended this brilliant example to the younger members of the chapter , and hoped it would stimulate them to emulate Comp . Morrison ' s zeal , which would transmit to posterity the historic interest which this old chapter has displayed in Royal Arch Masonry for nearly 70 years . Comp . Morrison , who in accepting the gift seemed visibly moved by the spontaneous testimony of the companions in making him the present of such a handsome jewel , said

that all the work he had ever done was simply a labour of rove . When he joined the chapter it was with the full intention of rendering service , however humble , to the companions with whom it was his lot to labour . He had seen the chapter through many vicissitudes , and most of the members who were present when he was admitted were no more . He heartily thanked Comp . Allan for the kind observations he had made respecting his feeble tfforts to promote the interests of Arch Masonry . The chapter was then closed .

Harmony followed , Comp . Booth presiding , when the following toasts were pledged : "The Queen , " "The Craft , " " The Supreme Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Scotland , " " Ihe Sister Bodies , " and "The Chapters comprising the Province of the Lower Ward of Lanarkshire . "

Some excellent vocal music was rendered , after which the proceedings terminated . 'The jewel was manufactured by Comp . George Kenning .

GLASGOW . St . Andrew ' s Chapter ( No . 69 ) . —This chapter held its installation meeting on Tuesday , the 10 th inst ., in the Queen's Rooms . Comp . Denholm , M . E . Z ., opened the chapter , in which he was assisted by his usual office-bearers and a large number of companions and visitors , among the latttr being Comps . Major F . W . Allan , 3 rd G . P . and Prov . Grand Superintendent ; R . S . Brown

, Grand Scribe E . ; John Carruthers , P . Z . 87 , ist G . Soj . ; Jas . Simpson , H . 1 , 2 nd G . Soj . ; R . J . Jamieson , Z . 1 ; jas . Booth , Z ., J . A . S . Kerr , H ., and T . R . Richards , S . E ., of 50 J R . Bradshaw , Z . G 7 ; J . Connell , Z . 79 ; I . B . McNaught , Z . S 7 ; J . Hutchison , Z . 122 ; John Sanderson , Prov . G . S . N . ; Emile Berger , Prov . G . Org . ; W . McMurdo , Prov . G . S . E . Upper Ward ot Lanarkshire ; and others .

After accepting the various reports , which proved the chapter to be in a most flourishing condition , the M . E . Z . called upon Comp . J . McNaught Campbell , P . Z ., tooccupy the chair , which he accordingly did , and immediately declared all the offices vacant . Nominations were then read over , and the following declared duly elected : Comps . VV . M . Denholm , M . E . Z . ; F . VV . Larter , M . E . TI . ; D .

Davidson , M . E . J . ; J . Dawson , S . E . ; F . V . Rodriguez , S . N . ; A . H . Fulton , ist Soj . ; J . Moreau , 2 nd Soj ; J . McConville , 3 rd Soj . ; J . Ross , S . of W . j VV . Colgan , Director of Music , f . Lee , D . of C ; H . McPhee , Stwd . j and J .

Gray , Janitorj and were formally installed into their various offices by Comp . J . McNaught Campbell . Comp . Denholm , in replying to the very eulogistic remarks of the Installing Officer , thanked the companions for the renewed confidence shown to him in again placing the chapter in his hands , and wished as successful a year to come as that just ended . The following visitors were then nominated and

accepted as honorary members of the chapter : Comps . McMurdo , Jamieson , Connell , McNaught , Williams , and Lieut . Denholm . The labours of the evening being ended , the chapter was closed , and the companions adjourned to the outer hall , where the usual refreshment was provided for their entertainment , under the superintendence of Comp . H . McFee , Steward .

Hedderwick , Z . 1 S 9 ; E . Macbean . l . P . Z . ; VV . S . Hunter , l . P . Z . ; Thomas Davison , and j . O . Stewart . The Auditors' report of the financial position and the chapter property having been submitted and approved , and the usual business of the chapter having been disposed of , the M . E . Z . declared all the offices vacant . The following were then unanimously elected : Comps . Jas . Booth , M . E . Z . ;

Jas . A . S . Kerr , M . E . H . ; T . R . Richards , M . E . J , j Uobt . Jackson , Scribe E . ; Robt . Campbell , Scribe N . ; Robt . Morrison , Treas . ; P . Robertson , ist Soj . ; J . Dale , 2 nd Soj . ; Thos . Chisholm , 3 rd Soj . ; VValter Hardie , S . B . ; J . O . Stewart , Std . Br . ; W . Anderson , Supt . of Wks . ; J . P . Dodd , Captain of the ist Veil ; Robert Dickie , Captain of the 2 nd Veil ; Dr . R . McCowan Service , Captain of the 3 rd Veil ; Emile Berger , Director of Music ; John Fraser , Director of Ceremonies ; and George Muir , Janitor .

Comp . Major F .

R . Org .

VV . M .
