A sumptuous banquet was provided by the Stewards , and the usual toasts were heartily responded to , particularly that of "TheW . M . " In responding , Bro . William Glass expressed the pleasure he had experienced from the brethren of Weston ( which

p lace he had come to reside in only a few years since ) by the cordial reception and friendly welcome they had given to one who vvas a stranger in the land . He should always have a warm corner in his heart for the brethren of St . Kew . The Worshipful Master , in proposing " I'he Installing Officer , Bro . John Glass , " alluded to the fact that that

brother had undertaken a very long journey in inclement weather to install him , by special desire oi the lodge . Reference vvas also made to the services rendered by Bro . John Glass with regard to the R . M . l . for Boys . Bro . John Glass , in reply , stated the pleasure he had experienced in installing their W . M ., particularly as Bro . VV . Glass had some years ago initiated him into Freemasonry .

Bro . Glass ( who is a member of the Provisional Management Committee Boys' School ) took the opportunity of making an earnest appeal for funds so urgently needed for the much desired improvements at the Institution at Wood Green , and reminded the brethren of the Province of Somerset that there were six boys now in the Institution from that province , and alluded to the fact that during the last seven

years the Boys' Institution had received ^ , 50 , 000 less than either of the other two Institutions and , while feeling that neither the Girls nor the Old People had received one penny less than the merits of those Charities were entitled to , considered that it vvas high time the Craft felt their responsibilities with regard to providing adequate funds for the

Boys' School , which was now in such a position as to reflect the highest credit upon Freemasonry and to take high rank among Institutions of a similar kind in the country . He sincerely hoped that the St . Kew Lodge would send a Steward to the next Festival . Bros . Geo . Corbie and W , Glass , jun ., responded for "The Visitors . "

Provincial Meetings.

Bro . J . Haddon , P . M . ig 65 , in responding for "The Charities , " made a very eloquent speech supporting the appeal made by Bro . John Glass . Bro . Haddon stated that he vvas Provincial Steward for the Boys' School , and that he had received considerable support from the members of the lodge . He knew , however , the importance of sending a Steward from the lodge . He would willingly transfer the support he

had received to direct representation if it could be obtained . Bro . S . Lewis , P . M ., Treas ., thereupon volunteered to serve as a Steward . This offer was heartily received and responded to by many brethren . Some capital songs and recitations contributed to one of the most pleasant and successful gatherings of Freemasons in the West of England held for a long time .
