Reports Of Masonic Meetings.

Bro . Buss in replying said that it was his duty on the present occasion to rise in answer to this toast , because he was the only Grand Officer present . He much regretted that there was no Grand Officer superior to him in rank present to respond to it . On behalf of the Grand Officers it was his duty to express their thanks for the very cordial manner in which this toast had been received . The cordial manner in which the health of the Grand Officers was

always received should convince them that the Grand Master ir . making his selection , appointed brethren who were appreciated by the Craft at large . Might he say that in a numerous lodge like this it was a regrettable fact that he was the only member of it who was a Grand Officer . Surely there was a way to obtain the purple for some one of their number , if they would look about them , and not be over diffident . They need not be ashamed to put

themselves forward ; there was no harm in asking ; they might make the attempt like others . Having thrown out this little hint , he would only add his thanks for the kind and cordial manner in which the health of the Grand Officers had been proposed and drunk . Bro . Ayling , I . P . M ., said he would now claim the attention ofthe brethren for a few moments . They would understand why he had called them to order—that it was

in order that he might propose to them the toast of the evening and which hc felt sure would be received with an amount of enthusiasm that had never been exceeded by them ; it was " The Health of Bro . Moreton Graham . " He knew full well that they were proud of their W . M ., and he was sure they would receive the toast with the enthusiam it deserved . For some years past there had not been a more distinguished brother occupying the chair of

the Rose of Denmark Lodge than Bro . Graham . He had seen Bro . Graham work step by step and knew that he could do his work without a hitch , and in welcoming Bro , Graham as his successor he knew that under his rule the Rose of Denmark Lodge would shine brighter than before . Bro . Graham had by his kind and courteous manner engrafted himself into the hearts of everyone of them . Hc trusted that Bro . . Graham would have health

and strength to carry on the lodge prosperously and so successfully as to leave his mark upon it , his " footprints in the sands of time . " In replying Bro . Graham said that he had sincerely and very cordially to thank the brethren for the very handsome manner in which they had received the toast of his health , and also to thank Bro . Ayling for the terms in which he had referred to him . He appreciated the honour they had

done him in placing him in the chair , and as far as he was concerned he should endeavour to fulfil the duties of that chair during his year of office ; and he hoped that when he vacated the chair he might possess the love of his brethren as he believed he did to-night . He would take the opportunity of saying that his father was one of the oldest members of the lodge , and he much regretted that he was not here on the occasion to tell them personally that he

appreciates the honour they had done his son in placing him in that chair , and he sent them all good wishes which one brother could send to another . In proposing "The Health of the Installing Master , " Bro . Graham said that most of the brethren present were in good time and had seen the working of the installation ceremony , and he was sure that they would agree with him that Bro . Ayling had done the work so perfectly and

without a hitch that one would think that he had performed it scores of times before . He had also to tell them that Bro . Ayling had endeared himself to the heart of every member of the lodge , and had carried out the duties of the chair in a very studious manner ; and to mark how well they were satisfied , it was now his pleasing duty to attach to Bro . Ayling ' s breast a jewel which had been voted by the lodge as a mark of the respect in which they held him ;

and he was sure Bro . Ayling knew that it was a real mark of esteem and love that the brethren of the lodge have for him , and he trusted that the G . A . O . T . U . would spare Bro . Ayling for many years to come there and wear that jewel . He would ask the brethren to be upstanding and drink the health of Bro . Ayling . The I . P . M . having replied , several other toasts were proposed and duly honoured , including "The Initiates , "

" The Visitors , " " The Masonic Churities " ( coupled with thc name of Bro . Terry , who ir . replying made an earnest appeal on behalf of the Charities ) , "The Past Masters , " "The Treasurer and Secretary , " "The Officers of the Lodge , " and the Tyler ' s toast . The musical arrangements were under the direction of Bro . Egbert Roberts , who was assisted by Madame Adeline Paget , Miss Pauline Featherly , and Bro . John Probert , as vocalists , while Mr . Charles Lacock presided at the

zeal and industry , as well as a recognition prosperity the lodge has attained during his Mastership .
