C , was announced , and he was duly admitted and saluted according to ancient form . The notice of motion by the S . W . as to the alteration of the bye-law respecting the qualification of country members was seconded
and unanimously carried . Bro . W . Taylor having vacated the chair in favour of Bro . Thrupp , the ceremony of inducting Bro . Walls into the chair of K . S . was then carried out . the Deputy Provincial Grand Master that day , and personally thanked Bro . Thrupp not only for the very admirable nianner in which he had conducted the ceremony , but for his kindness in attending the lodge , notwithstanding he was suffering from indisposition . The Installing Officer having briefly returned thanks , the toast of "The Visitors" followed .
I his pledge having been warmly received , Bros . Vialls , Lardner , Dunkley , and Gunn responded , and in their respective replies they referred in eulogistic terms to the working that they had witnessed that day , and to the hospitality they had received . "The Past Masters " and "The Treasurer and Secreary " came next in order . In giving these toasts the
Worshipful Master alluded to the eminent services of the I . P . M ., the Treasurer , and the Secretary , and he regretted that , from unavoidable causes , only one brother was present who could respond for these importantbfficials , namely Bro . W . H . Saunders , but he was in himself a tower of strength , both physically and Masonically .
Bro . Saunders having replied in an able speech of some length , " The Masonic Charities , " coupled with the name of Bro . Dr . Clark , and " The Officers , " connected with the names of Bros . S . Saunders , Briggs , and the Rev . L . D'Orsey , who responded , terminated the proceedings , which were greatly enhanced by the musical abilities ot Bro . Dunkley , P . P . G . Org . Middlesex , & c
PORTMADOC—Madoc Lodge ( No . 1509 ) . — The installation of Bro . I . W . Wheeler as VV . M . for the ensuing year took place on the 14 th inst ., Bro . J . G . Tuxford , I . P . M ., being the Installing Master . At the meeting a testimonial , consisting of an illuminated address ( expressing regret at Bro . Davies's departure , and bearing witness to the indefatigable exertions rendered by him in connection with the lodge and Freemasonry in general ) and
a purse of gold was presented to Bro . Cornelius Davies on his departure from Portmadoc , consequent on his promotion to the office of Deputy Chief Constable of Carnarvonshire . Bro . Davies will shortly be the recipient of another testimonial subscribed for by the inhabitants of Portmadoc and the vicinity . In the evening the usual installation banquet was held at the Sportsman Hotel , a large party sitting down to the excellent catering of Mrs . Francis .
HAMPTON . —Hemming Lodge ( No . 1512 ) . — This prosperous lodge met at the Lion Hotel , on the 15 th inst . Among those present were Bros . T . Moody , W . M . ; VV . C . Davey , S . VV . ; H . J . P . M ., " That a vote of thanks be given and recorded upon the minutes to Bro . Nicolas Contopoulos and Chas Singleton , for their handsome present of lodge furniture in the emergency of having lost the use of that belonging to the Lebanon Lodge , No . 132 G , by removal . " This resolution was also carried with acclamation . The same brethren proposed that a record of the presentation be engraved on brass plates and affixed to the three lesser lights . " This
resolution was also carried . The lodge was shortly afterwards closed and the brethren adjourned to refreshment . The usual toasts followed . " 1 he Health of the Prov . M . of this lodge , commenced on Friday , the 9 th inst ., atthe regular lodge meeting held at the Lord Raglan , Maxey-road . He was assisted by the following officers and brethren : Bros . T . loyal Masonic and Provincial toasts , alluding in felicitous terms to the fact of it being H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , their Grand Master ' s , birthday . Bro . Spinks then proposed the toast of " The VV . M ., " and said they had all witnessed the admirable manner in which Bro . Kenneday hadcarriedout the ceremony of the FirstandSecond Degrees . Itwasacredit to him , and the lodge . He ventured to say that before
Bro . Kenneday's year of office expired they would all agree that he was second to none that had ever presided over the working or festive board of the lodge . The Worshipful Master in response said he felt much gratified and pleased at the support he had received at the commencement of his year of office . As an old man and an old Mason he could tell them that it was only
through the exigencies oi the service to which they all belonged that he had not arrived at the chair before . Many years ago he was initiated at the Adams Lodge , at Sheerness , but had to leave when in office ; he was pleased to see one of the brethren of that lod ge present . The massive and ancient flagon used as the Loving Cup occupied a conspicuous place on the tables , and was emptied to the prosperity of the lodge .

I his pledge having been warmly received , Bros . Vialls , Lardner , Dunkley , and Gunn responded , and in their respective replies they referred in eulogistic terms to the working that they had witnessed that day , and to the hospitality they had received . "The Past Masters " and "The Treasurer and Secreary " came next in order . In giving these toasts the

M ., being the Installing Master . At the meeting a testimonial , consisting of an illuminated address ( expressing regret at Bro . Davies's departure , and bearing witness to the indefatigable exertions rendered by him in connection with the lodge and Freemasonry in general ) and
a purse of gold was presented to Bro . Cornelius Davies on his departure from Portmadoc , consequent on his promotion to the office of Deputy Chief Constable of Carnarvonshire . Bro . Davies will shortly be the recipient of another testimonial subscribed for by the inhabitants of Portmadoc and the vicinity . In the evening the usual installation banquet was held at the Sportsman Hotel , a large party sitting down to the excellent catering of Mrs . Francis .
