The installation ceremony being completed and there being no further business , the lodge was closed , and the brethren subsequently celebrated the Festival of St . John with a banquet , which gave entire satisfaction . After the banquet the W . M . proposed the preliminary toasts , which were received and drank with Masonic enthusiasm .
In proposing "The Health of the W . M . " Bro John Stovold , I . P . M ., spoke in high terms of the manner in which he had performed the various duties allotted to him since his connection with the lodge , of his regular attendance at the ordinary and instruction meetings , and his uniform kindness and affability . The toast was heartily drank , and after Bro . Walker had sang " Here's to his Health . "
1 he Worshipful Master , in reply , said that far more had been said by Bro . Stovold concerning himself than was warrantable or deserved , at the same time he should try and justify the statements by striving to do his utmost to fulfil the duties annexed to his appointment and merit the approbation of his biethren . ' 1 he kind remarks concerning him that had fallen from their I . P . M . had almost
caused him to forget what he bad intended to say , but he could , however , assure them all that he had striven to perform every office to which he had been appointed , from 5 th Steward to S . W ., creditably to himself and satisfactorily to the lodge , and with one exception had attended every meeting of the lodge since he was initiated . He assured them he felt very proud of his present position ,
and ftlt sure he should nut only have the assistance of his Officers and P . M . ' s , but tnat every member of the Alexandra Lodge would earnestly support him , and such being the case , with the assistance 01 G . A . O . T . 'J . he did not think his brethren would have cause to regret having placed him in his honourable and responsible position . In conclusion Bio . Allett thanked Bro . Stovold most cordially
for his kind remarks , and the brethren for so heartily drinking his health . Belore resuming his seat the W . M . said he felt exceeding pleasure in proposing " 'Ihe Health of Bro . John Stovold , I . P . M ., " who had performed his duties as W . M . in a highly creditable manner and to the entire satisfaction of the rrembets . No brother could have taken a keener interest in his lodge or have been more
zealous towards its interests than Bro . Stovold had done , and he ( Bro . Allett ) felt great pleasure in presenting him , on behalf of the members , with a P . M . 's iS carat gold jewel to mark the esteem and respect in which he was held , and for the efficient manner in which he had performed his duties .
The jewel was passed round for the inspection of the brethren , and was much admired , being a handsomely engiaved square and problem with three bars of frosted gold relieved with burnished edges and letters , and manufactured by George Kenning , 47 , Bridge-street , Mancheater .
Bro . Jonn Stovold , in returning thanks for this mark of the brethren's esteem , said he should prize it above all the jewels he possesstd , and although he had been praised for doing his work well , still , he felt he had not done half as much as he should have liked . The installation ceremony being completed and there being no further business , the lodge was closed , and the brethren subsequently celebrated the Festival of St . John with a banquet , which gave entire satisfaction . After the banquet the W . M . proposed the preliminary toasts , which were received and drank with Masonic enthusiasm .
In proposing "The Health of the W . M . " Bro John Stovold , I . P . M ., spoke in high terms of the manner in which he had performed the various duties allotted to him since his connection with the lodge , of his regular attendance at the ordinary and instruction meetings , and his uniform kindness and affability . The toast was heartily drank , and after Bro . Walker had sang " Here's to his Health . "
1 he Worshipful Master , in reply , said that far more had been said by Bro . Stovold concerning himself than was warrantable or deserved , at the same time he should try and justify the statements by striving to do his utmost to fulfil the duties annexed to his appointment and merit the approbation of his biethren . ' 1 he kind remarks concerning him that had fallen from their I . P . M . had almost
caused him to forget what he bad intended to say , but he could , however , assure them all that he had striven to perform every office to which he had been appointed , from 5 th Steward to S . W ., creditably to himself and satisfactorily to the lodge , and with one exception had attended every meeting of the lodge since he was initiated . He assured them he felt very proud of his present position ,
and ftlt sure he should nut only have the assistance of his Officers and P . M . ' s , but tnat every member of the Alexandra Lodge would earnestly support him , and such being the case , with the assistance 01 G . A . O . T . 'J . he did not think his brethren would have cause to regret having placed him in his honourable and responsible position . In conclusion Bio . Allett thanked Bro . Stovold most cordially
for his kind remarks , and the brethren for so heartily drinking his health . Belore resuming his seat the W . M . said he felt exceeding pleasure in proposing " 'Ihe Health of Bro . John Stovold , I . P . M ., " who had performed his duties as W . M . in a highly creditable manner and to the entire satisfaction of the rrembets . No brother could have taken a keener interest in his lodge or have been more
zealous towards its interests than Bro . Stovold had done , and he ( Bro . Allett ) felt great pleasure in presenting him , on behalf of the members , with a P . M . 's iS carat gold jewel to mark the esteem and respect in which he was held , and for the efficient manner in which he had performed his duties .
The jewel was passed round for the inspection of the brethren , and was much admired , being a handsomely engiaved square and problem with three bars of frosted gold relieved with burnished edges and letters , and manufactured by George Kenning , 47 , Bridge-street , Mancheater .
Bro . Jonn Stovold , in returning thanks for this mark of the brethren's esteem , said he should prize it above all the jewels he possesstd , and although he had been praised for doing his work well , still , he felt he had not done half as much as he should have liked .
