and to the East Lancashire Systematic Benevolent Institution £ 20 . Bro . Cheetham continuing , said the lodge stood second to none in the province for its charitable contributions . He impressed upon the brethren the necessity for more of their members qualifying themselves as Governors of the East Lancashire Systematic Educational Benevolent Institution , there being at present only two ,

viz ., Bro . R . Timperley , P . M ., P . P . J . G . D ., and another . Other toasts were proposed , including "The Officers , " "The Installing Master , " and others , and were duly responded to . A very enjoyable evening was spent , and Bros . Marfield , Dottie , Deweurst , Goddard , Edwards , Walker , and Lee contributed songs and readings , to the delight of all present .

LEEDS . —Excelsior Lodge ( No . 1042 ) . —The installation meeting of this lodge took place on the 15 th inst ., at the Masonic Hall , Great George-street , in the presence of a good muster of brethren . Bro . W . J . Flockton , W . M ., wassupported by his officers , and amongst others present were Bros . Hy . Smith , P . G . D . England , D . P . G . M .: C . L . Mason , P . M ., P . P . G . Treas . ; R .

All the Leeds lodges were represented , and the muster was both large and representative . The W . D . P . G . M . having been accorded the salutation due to his exalted rank , addressed the brethren as follows : I desire to acknowledge the salutation accorded

to me this evening . It has afforded me much pleasure to accept the invitation of your W . M . to be here on this most interesting occasion . I trust that the prosperity which has characterised your proceedings during the past year may be continued in thelutuie , and that by the judicious selection of candidates you may still further increase the excellent position you have obtained in the province . You have

used very great discretion hitherto , and I trust that brotherly love , relief , and truth may long be the motto happily fulfilled in your lodge . I have reason to beleve that your prosperity is insured , a fact which is due to the admirable selection of W . M . ' s who have occupied the chair of K . S . It is very gratifying to the P . G . M . ( Bro . Tew ) and myself to witness the cordiality and good feeling which exist amongst the

lodges in Leeds . This is the sort of feeling which , I am happy to say , prevails , not only in this province but throughout England . 1 feel sure that I shall have the opportunity of seeing the beautiful ceremony admirably performed . John was celebrated with great ec ' at , and one of the most successful gatherings in the annals of the lodge was brought to a conclusion amid every feeling of brotherly love and Masonic sentiment .

OSWESTRY . —Lodge St . Oswald ( No . 1124 ) . —This lodge held their installation festival on Monday evening , the 5 th inst ., when Sir Watkins Williams Wynn was installed as Worshipful Master of the lodge for the ensuing year . An occasion so interesting to the brethren could not fail to cause a large number , on the invitation of the brethren of the lodge , to assemble . Those present

W . H . Bott , Steward . r After the investing of the officers , the Secretary , Bro . W . H . Spaull , referred to an interesting episode with reference to the chair which Bro . Sir Watkin occupied . When the St . Oswald Lodge was founded in 1866 , the late Sir Watkin made a present to the lodge of some antique chairs and other furniture that formerly were used in a lodge holden at Wynnstay , and the present

baronet has now been installed in the chair that his great grandfather had formerly occupied when he presided over that lodge at Wynnstay . After the usual patrio'ic and Masonic toasts the brethren separated at an early hour .

BATTLE . —Abbey Lodge ( No . 11 S 4 ) . —A meeting of the above Lodge was held on Thursday , the 15 th instant , at the Masonic Hall , when there were present Bros . R . Hughes , VV . M . ; W . HAMPTON WICK—Wolsey Lodge ( No . 1656 ) . —This lodge met for the dispatch of business at the Rose and Crown Hotel , on the 12 th inst . Among those present were Bros . T . W . Ockenden , P . M ., P . P . G . D . Middlesex , W . M . ; T . C . Walls , P . P . G . S . B . Middlesex , S . W . ; Drummond , acting J . W . ; Featherstone , P . M ., P . P . G . P . Middlesex , Treas . ; W . T . Dare , J . D . ; H . Sapsworth , I . G . ; Grant , D . C ; Bond , Steward ; Chandler , I . P . M . ; Gaunt , R . Masters , J . J . Smith , Hunt , Rice , Plambock , Simpson , Spooner , Hunt , Gilbert ( Tyler ) , and others . Bro . the Rev . Dr . Baker , Rutland Lodge , was a visitor , and he kindly and efficiently acted as Chaplain . Ihe minutes of the previous meeting having been read

and confirmed , the ballot was taken on behalf of Mr . G . S . Suggett , and it being unanimous , he was most ably inducted into Ciaft mysteries by the VV . M ., who supplemented his excellent working by deliver i ng the ancient charge to the initiate . It was proposed by Bro . T . C . Walls , seconded by Bro . Chandler , and carried unanimously , that the sum of five guineas be placed on the W . M . ' s list as Steward to

the forthcoming Centenary festival of the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls . The lodge was then closed , and the brethren adjourned to refreshment , under the able catering of Bro . Plambock . Upon the removal of the cloth , the usual toasts received full justice . Bro . Ftatherstone responded on behalf of " The Prov .

Grand Officers . " The toast of "The Worshipful Master " was briefly , but heartily , given by the I . P . M . The VVorshipful Master having replied , gave "The Initiate . " Bro . Suggett having modestly acknowledged the compliment , " The Health of the Visitor " was given .

Bro . the Rev . Dr . Baker made a fluent and exhaustive reply . In the course of his speech he congratulated the lodge upon having so excellent a man and Mason at its head as Bro . Ockenden . He , the speaker , had found the VV . M . exceedingly useful , kind , and energetic in his parish of Clapham , and he wished that there were more like him . Having spoken some kind words to the initiate and made a few observations upon the great acts of Charity

performed by English Freemasons , notably the recent gift of £ 500 to the poor of London , the reverend brother resumed his seat amid great applause . Bro . Chandler acknowledged the toast of " The Past Masters , " and Bros . Featherstone and Walls replied for "The Officers . " Bros . Chandler , Grant , Suggett , and others , contributed to the evening ' s harmony . The proceedings then terminated .

STONEHOUSE—Ebrington Lodge ( No . 1 S 47 ) . —The annual meeting of this lodge was held at the Ebrington Masonic Hall , Hobart-street , on the 13 th inst ., to instal Bro . W . H . Williams , S . M ., took p ' ace at the Assembly Rooms on Thursday evening , the 15 th inst ., amongst those present were Bros . C . T . Timbrell , W . M . ; R . Eve , P . P .-S . G . W ., G . Treasurer ; J . E . Le Feuvre , J . G . D ., D . P . G . M . ; G . Goble , P . G . Swd . Br . ; E . C . Hervey , P . J . G . C ; H . Harbour , I . P . M . ;

and others . The brethren attended in mourning for the loss of Bro . J . B . Blake . The W . M ., Bro . G . T . Timbrell , installed his successor in a very able manner , and was presented with a P . M . ' s jewel and collar for past services . After the installation the brethren adjourned toa banquet at the Swan Hotel , provided by Bro . T . Vallett , the

Treasurer of the lodge . The list of toasts were , " The Oueen ; " "H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , M . W . G . M ;" "The M . W . Pro Grand Master and Grand Officers , Present and Past , " coupled with Bro . R . Eve , G . Treas . Bro . R . Eve , who was greeted with applause , refrered to

the very able officers selected by the M . VV . G . Master . He ( Bro . Eve ) happened to belong to a different citegory ; he took his honour from the Craft ; he felt there was no greater honour than being elected by the Craft . He dwelt at some length , in a very interesting speech , upon the work of the Craft , and his remarks were enthusiastically

appreciated . Bros . Le Feuvre and Goble also followed in their usual well-known style , and were also well received .

HAMPTON COURT .-Cama Lodge ( No . 2105 ) . —A meeting of this lodge was held at the Mitre Hotel on Saturday , the 17 th inst . Present : Bros . W . R . Palmer , W . M . ; John Read , P . P . G . Org . Middx ., S . W . ; T . Pojre , P . M . 720 , Sec ; Dharwar , S . D . ; Hague . ^ M . D ., J . D . ; Granville , D . C . ; J . K . Cama , Org . ; Caron , W . S . ; Rev . Saunders , P . P . G . Chap ., Middx . ; T . C . Walls ,

John Read , P . M . 720 , and P . P . G . Org . Middx ., S . W ., was presented by Bro . T . C Walls , P . P . G . S . B . Middx ., to the VV . M . for installation into the chair of K . S ., and a Board of Installed Masters having been formed , the

ceremony was well and ably carried out by Bro . W . R . Palmer , I . P . M . Bro . Read having placed the collar of I . P . M . on Bro . Palmer , and having received the salutations of the brethren , under the able conduct of Bro . Walls , ( who acted as an efficient D . C ) , appointed and invested his officers as follows : Bros . N . D . Fracis , S . W . ; Dharwar , J . W . ; Palmer , I . P . M ., Treas . ; T . Poore , P . M . 720 , Sec , S .

The usualaddresses were . effectively rendered by the Installing Master , Bro . W . R . Palmer , I . P . M . A sum of five guineas from the Charity Fund was unanimously voted towards the Testimonial Fund now being raised in honour of Bro . T . Poore , P . M . 720 , and

Sec . 2105 . The W . M . then presented Bro . Palmer , the I . P . M ,, a | Past Master ' s jewel , which had been unanimously voted to him by the brethren at the previous lodge meeting , and whilst congratulating Bro . Palmer on his successful year of office , added what great pleasuie it afforded him personally in placing the jewel on

his bteast , it having been so well and ably earned , and trusted he might long live to wear it , and be amongst the brethren of Lodge No . 2105 . The I . P . M ., Bro . Palmer , thanked the biethren very warmly for the handsome present , which he would ever be proud to wear as it would ever remind him of a pleasant year of office , and pleasmt

associations . The lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to banquet served in Bro . Sadler ' s best style . After the banquet the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were given , received , and duly responded to . The proceedings were very much enlivened with some ' first class music , under the direction of Bro . R . De Lacy ,

of St . Paul ' s Cathedral , assisted by Mdlle . Colnaghi and Mrs . Read . Mrs . Read proved , as usual , an able and accomplished accompanist . A vote of thanks was most unanimously given to the artistes for the musical treat they had afforded . The brethren then separated , expressing great satisfac tion at the pleasant evening they had spent .

HAMPTON COURT . —Royal Hampton Court Lodge ( No . 2138 ) . —We recorded in our number of the 12 th February last the consecration of this lodge . Its first year ' s labours were brought to a conclusion in a peculiarly interesting manner , on Wednesday , the 14 th instant , in a very full lodge , there being a large array of visitors . The peculiarity consisted in a bold and successful divergence from the beaten track of ceremonial Masonry , and the

filling up of a spare evening by the reading and discussion of a lecture on that sacred edifice , the building and construction of which have given to us the legends of Craft Masonry . The lodge was opened by the W . M ., the Rev . VV . F . Reynolds , P . P . G . C . Middx ., assisted by his able officers . After confirnation of minutes , letters regretting unavoid able absence were read from ihe Prov . G . M ., the D . P . G . M ,, the Prov . G , Sec , and other brethren . Bro . Dr . H . W .

Bro . the Rev . Dr . Baker made a fluent and exhaustive reply . In the course of his speech he congratulated the lodge upon having so excellent a man and Mason at its head as Bro . Ockenden . He , the speaker , had found the VV . M . exceedingly useful , kind , and energetic in his parish of Clapham , and he wished that there were more like him . Having spoken some kind words to the initiate and made a few observations upon the great acts of Charity

performed by English Freemasons , notably the recent gift of £ 500 to the poor of London , the reverend brother resumed his seat amid great applause . Bro . Chandler acknowledged the toast of " The Past Masters , " and Bros . Featherstone and Walls replied for "The Officers . " Bros . M ,, a | Past Master ' s jewel , which had been unanimously voted to him by the brethren at the previous lodge meeting , and whilst congratulating Bro . Palmer on his successful year of office , added what great pleasuie it afforded him personally in placing the jewel on

his bteast , it having been so well and ably earned , and trusted he might long live to wear it , and be amongst the brethren of Lodge No . 2105 . The I . P . M ., Bro . Palmer , thanked the biethren very warmly for the handsome present , which he would ever be proud to wear as it would ever remind him of a pleasant year of office , and pleasmt

associations . The lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to banquet served in Bro . Sadler ' s best style . After the banquet the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were given , received , and duly responded to . The proceedings were very much enlivened with some ' first class music , under the direction of Bro . R . De Lacy ,

of St . Paul ' s Cathedral , assisted by Mdlle . Colnaghi and Mrs . Read . Mrs . Read proved , as usual , an able and accomplished accompanist . A vote of thanks was most unanimously given to the artistes for the musical treat they had afforded . The brethren then separated , expressing great satisfac tion at the pleasant evening they had spent .

HAMPTON COURT . —Royal Hampton Court Lodge ( No . 2138 ) . —We recorded in our number of the 12 th February last the consecration of this lodge . Its first year ' s labours were brought to a conclusion in a peculiarly interesting manner , on Wednesday , the 14 th instant , in a very full lodge , there being a large array of visitors . The peculiarity consisted in a bold and successful divergence from the beaten track of ceremonial Masonry , and the

filling up of a spare evening by the reading and discussion of a lecture on that sacred edifice , the building and construction of which have given to us the legends of Craft Masonry . The lodge was opened by the W . M ., the Rev . VV . F . Reynolds , P . P . G . C . Middx ., assisted by his able officers .
