CotteSWOld Lodge ( No . 592 ) . —The installation meeting of this lodge was held on Wednesday , the iGth inst ., at the King ' s Head Hotel , and was attended by most of the members , with visitors from other lodges . The only business was to instal Bro . VV . J . Jefferies , and , as ample time was allowed , thc ceremony was performed in a
manner befitting the importance of the occasion . The outgoing W . M ., Bro . F . T . E . Boulton , fulfilled his duty impressively and correctly , after which no less than seven Past Masters took part in what followed upon the actual installation , viz ., Bros . Anderson , H . M . of Kent ( who has returned to the scenes of his early Masonic career ) was highly appreciated . During the evening pleasing music was contributed by
members of the lodge , under the direction of Bro . Brind , and Bro . Pambridge , Mus . Doc , one of the staff at Marlborough College , delighted all with a brilliant solo on the pianoforte . That the leading characteristic of the Order is not lost sight of heie was shown by the Treasurer announcing that he had seven draw stu make in as many live-guinea " charity
unions , " and another , was made up at the table , so that 40 guineas will j . o up at once to the Charities . Bro . Tudway mi nliened in conversation that hchad been looking over the lodge returns , and found that in the last 19 years ils members had contributed over / . 1 G 00 to the three

M ., intimated his intention of serving as Steward at the forthcoming festival of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution , and asked the brethren ' sassistance . A brother gave notice that he would propose at next meeting that the sum of 10 guineas should be given from the
lodge funds and placed on Bro . Gaze's list . 'The lodge was then closed , and the brethren sat down to a banquet served in Bro . Boyce's best style . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were ably proposed from the chair and duly honoured .
1 he musical arrangements were under the direction of Bro . J . B . Guy , Org ., and were of the usual excellent character , lt may also be mentioned that the musical service performed during the service was composed by Bro . Guy . The Tyler ' s toast ended a most enjoyable evening .

M ., presided , and Bros . Whittle and Parrott were passed to the Second Degree . After lodge , the brethren adjourned to the King ' s Head
1 lute ) , where covers were laid Ior 35 , the occasion being the successful resuscitation , after a lapse of some twelve years , of what used formerly to be the annual widgeon supper . The widgeon , which were in line condition , were presented by the VV . M ., to whose exertions this resuscitation of a good old custom was due , and they were excellently served by the hostess , Mrs . White .

Martin , in responding for the guests , said they would be interested to know that he brought them greetings from Bro . Henry Sadd , who he believed would in the course of time make his mark in the colony .

Having knocked about the woild for 20 years and been a Mason for the last six , he could bear testimony to the great advantage it was to a man as soon as he began to travel . An interesting letter was read in lodge from another son of Mr . Alderman Sadd , who tendered his resignation , as he had joined a lodge in Jnhanneshurg . The toast of "The Worshipful Master , " was duly honoured , and , after Ihe final toast , " Auld lang syne " was sung in orthodox fashion .

one of the most powerful empires in the world . Bro . Hugh proposed , in eulogistic terms , " The R . VV . Bro . the Right Hon . the Earl of Mount Edgcumbe , Prov . G . M . of Cornwall ; the Deputy Prov . G . M ., Sir C . E . G . Sawle ; and the rest of the Prov . Grand Officers , Present and Past . " Bros . Higman and Job replied .
" The W . M . " was proposed , in an effective speech , by Bro . C . H . Whetter , I . P . M ., who said Bro . S . Williams was well known and highly esteemed , and in every way worthy of the position he now held . He had left Cornwall , and , during the short time he had been away , such was the respect entertained towards him , that he had been elected a patron of a errand Masonic ball , to be eiven at Liveroool .

Williams said he was proud of the honour conferred on him that day , and was sorry he should be prevented attending all the meetings of the lodge during the ensuing 12 months .

M . 738 , the Transvaal , and a member of the Grand Lodge of Scotland , also responded , and said that his father was the founder of the lodge which was celebrating its 50 th anniversary that evening .
