quence of the lamented decease of Bro . A . B . Richman , late S . W ., in thc unanimous choice by the brethren of Bro . Moreton Graham , J . W ., as Worshipful Master ; the reelection of our esteemed Bro . James Garnar , P . M ., as Treasurer ; and Bro . Gilbert , as Tyler , for the iSth year . The various items of business in the lodge , including the voting of a Past Master's jewel to Bro . E . Ayling on his vacation of the chair , proposals for initiation , & c , having

been disposed of , the brethren adjourned to dine in the banqueting hall , where , as is usual in this lodge , the entertainment proved worthy of the occasion . After the usual toasts had been given and responded to , the main item of interest was reached by the presentation to its late Secretary , Bro . W . H . Lee , P . M ., of a testimonial voted by the Lodge , in addition to electing him an honorary member , as a token of the very high esteem in

which he is held by them . The presentation was made by the VV . M ., who , in so doing , expressed the deep sense of obligation all the members of the lodge , particularly its officers and past masters , were under to Bro . Lee for the past eleven years , in his having so devotedly interested himself in their welfare , both individually and collectively , and by his exertions so eminently contributing to the elevation of the Rose of Denmark Lodge to the position it occupies

in the Masonic world . It was with very great regret the brethren had received the announcement of his resignation as Secretary , but it was with a large amount of pleasure they knew that he was still remaining a member among them , and they hoped this memento of their goodwill and esteem would for many years be looked upon by him , and recall to memory the many pleasant and instructive meetings connected with their association of many years .

Bro . Lee in responding , replied that he was hardly prepared to receive the expression of the goodwill of the brethren in such terms as the W . M . had been kind enough to convey . He was , however , very glad to find that the manner in which he had done his duty as Secretary had met with their approbation . He had always from the first ( havingbeen initiated in the . Rose of Denmark Lodge ) taken a great interest in its welfare , and as no more

pleasurable satisfaction can be obtained from continued culture than matured results he was very pleased to find the lodge in its present position . It afforded him great satisfaction as the result of the continued efforts of all its officers and members to attain to Masonic excellence . For his own part , although no longer an active member , he should deem it a privilege to be in any way of assistance to them , and reciprocate the kindly feeling always existing in

the lodge towards him , of which the testimonial of that evening was the tangible evidence . In thanking them very sincerely for the present , he would like to express his thanks to all the members with whom he had been officially connected during his career in the lodge , and earnestly hope in thc future the lodge would be , as in the past , what he had found it , and what it now was , one of mutual good fellowship and social enjoyment , well led by its W . M .,

well served by its officers , and well attended by its members . The testimonial , which is beautifully engrossed on vellum and framed in gold , reads thus : "Rose of Denmark Lodge , No . 975 . —At a meeting of the Rose of Denmark Lodge , No . 975 , held at thc Greyhound Hotel , Richmond , Surrey , on Friday , 15 th June , 1 SS 3 , Bro . Edward Ayling , W . M ., in the chair , it was moved by Bro . John Noble , P . M ., Sec ,

seconded by Bro . James Garnar , P . M ., Treas ., and resolved unanimously , ' That the members of this lodge , as a mark of the esteem and regard with which Bro . W . H . Lee , P . M ., is held by them , elect him an honorary member on his retirement from the office of Secretary , and that the thanks cf the lodge be presented to him , for his services in connection with it , extending over a period of 11 years , during the whole of which time his influence and energy largely contributed to the welfare of the Rose of Denmark Lodge .

His untiring zeal and continued efforts in promoting the cause of Freemasonry won the esteem of all with whom he was associated , and they will always cherish his connection with them with feelings of gratification , and they earnestly hope he may long be spared to continue his usefulness to our ancient Order , and to exercise his zealous efforts in promulgating its doctrines as efficiently as in the past . " [ Then follow the signatures . j The meeting was brought to a close with the usual Tyler's toast .

quence of the lamented decease of Bro . A .
