be heartily received , as indeed it always was . The W . M . had now passed through nearly three-fourths of his year , and they could say they were proud of him , he had always done his work , and it would show the brethren how full of resources their W . M . was , by his having provided a musical evening , when for once in a way there was no ceremony . He was delighted with the way the W . M . had
taken it up , and it was most gratifying to see so large a gathering . He had been reminded that eight years ago on that night their W . M . was initiated , and having passed through most of the other offices , was now their esteemed W . M . So large a gathering had never been known before , and he considered it testified to the high esteem in which he was held . After the applause had subsided , Bro . J . Herbert
Marshall , W . M . 1007 , sang "The boys of the blue . " The VVorshipful Master , on rising to respond , met with quite an ovation . He said he could scarcely find words adequate enough to thank the Past Masters , Officers , and brethren for the hearty manner in which the toast had been received ; he could only thank them most cordially for their constant attendance and support . He felt sure there were plenty of good brethren coming on after him . He had found the lodge flourishing , and should hope to leave it
more so . The WorshiptuI Master then proposed "The Visitors . " He considered that toast on such an occasion must come from him , even if he failed to express in words his good wishes to them , and hearty thanks for the numerous attendance , many of the brethren being from a distance . The W . M . made happy allusion to his own recent visit to
London , when he was present at Bro . H . Guy ' s installation , and said on this occasion , as was done then , he would couple with the toast the name of a brother from the shortest and the longest distance . Zither solo , by Bro . J . V . Woodwarde , which was greatly appreciated . Bro . C J . Wilkinson , P . M . 1391 , on responding for "The Visitors , " thanked the W . M . for having in so kind
a manner proposed the toast . He was able to say that Bro . S . S . Partridge , D . P . G . M . of Leicestershire and Rutland , would have been present , but was obliged to attend an installation meeting at Oakham . He , himself , had promised to visit the Arboretum Lodge , but had not been able to find an earlier opportunity . He had never before seen so large a gathering , and was greatly pleased he had been able to be present .
Bro . D . Upton , W . M . Okeover Lodge , in responding , incidentally mentioned his belief that he was the youngest Master in the room , having only been installed the previous week . He wished all thebrethren might be able to visit his lodge , but begged them to come in divisions , as they might not find room . Bros . J . H . Orme , 16 S 8 , and J . B . Boycott , 1952 , also responded .

He trusted he might long be spared to come amongst them . The Worshipful Master then accorded a special toast to
the highly esteemed Tyler , Bro . T . Day , who had been over twenty years a Mason , part of his career having been spent in Essex . Song , " In cellar cool , " Bro . J . Melrose , 731 . Bro . T . Gundry , they were initiated into Freemasonry by the newly-installed W . M . in a highly creditable manner . Bro . J . Garnar , P . M ., Treas ., in a few words , heartily and
sincerely thanked the brethren for their sympathy and kindness to him during his recent illness . It was then unanimously resolved that the sum of £ 5 5 s . be taken from the lodge fund , and a similar sum from the Benevolent Fund , and placed on Bro . "H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , M . W . G . M ., " was next given by the VV . M ., who said that few words would be
necessary from him to ensure the toast a hearty reception . His Royal Highness was one of the best rulers the Craft had possessed , and it was owing to the influence exercised by him that the Order had risen to it present eminent position . " The Grand Oflicers " having been duly honoured , " The VVorshipful Master" was proposed by Bro . Brown , I . P . M ., who remarked that the gavel had been placed in
his hands for the first and last time at the banquet table that evening , for the delicate , interesting , and important duty , of proposing this toast . Their W . M ., whom they had placed in the chair that evening , was an excellent brother , well fitted to rule the lodge satisfactorily , and would carry out his duties in a conscientious manner . He had known Bro . Bugler , W . M ., for a considerable time , and irom personal experience he could congratulate the lodge on the
selection it had made . He asked the brethren to join him in wishing their VV . M . all the success he desired , and a happy and prosperous year of office . Bro . Bugler , VV . M ., in reply , after returning thanks for the manner in which the toast had been given and received , said that he was pleased if his past efforts had given satisfaction to the brethren , and he would endeavour in the future to exert himself for the benefit of tlie lodge .
"The Installing Master was next given by the w . M ., who remarked that Bro . Brown had done the best he could for the lodge during his year of office , and had carried out his duties to the gratification of its members . As the Installing Officer , he could also speak of him in the highest terms , and was personally pleased to have been installed into the chair by Bro . Brown . It was now his pleasing duty to present their I . P . M . with the Past Master ' s jewel
voted by the lodge . It afforded him considerable pleasure to make this presentation , as Bro . Brown had thoroughly deserved it , and it was the earnest wish of the brethren that he would live for many years to wear it , and enjoy himself at their meetings . Bro . John Brown , I . P . M ., responded , and thanked the W . M . for his kind remarks , and the brethren for their cordial reception of the toast . He also thanked them heartily
for the jewel presented to him , and here-echoed the W . M . s wish that he might live many years to wearit , for he should regard it as a mark of their esteem and affection . During his year he had penonned his duties to the best of his ability , and was gratified that he had gained their approbation . "The Initiates" having been cordially received , and duly responded to by Bros . Funge and Gundry ,
Bro . Bugler , W . M ., proposed " Ihe Health of the Visitors , " and said this toast was always looked forward to with pleasure . The members , one and all , greeted the visiting brethren cordially , and were always ready to do their utmost to make them comfortable . He hoped that on thc present occasion they had succeeded , and that the visitors had spent an enjoycble evening . He was pleased to see so numerous an array of visitors , for it showed that
the members were respected by the Craft . Brethren were naturally pleased to visit lodges where they could cement other associations in a brotherly spirit of friendship and unity . Bro . Gardner , VV . M . 2012 , replied , and , after returning thanks , said that he had been present on two or three

Gardner embraced everything the visiting brethren wished to say . He wished , however , to express his personal gratification at seeing Bro . Bugler in the chair , for he had known that brother in and out of

Masonry for many years . From what he knew of their W . M . he could sincerely and heartily congratulate the lodge on having placed a brother in tbe chair who would carry out the tenets and principles of the Craft , and faithfully maintain the prestige of the Rose of Denmark Lodge . He tendered his grateful thanks for thc cordial reception he had received , and he hoped it would be his privilege
to attend their meetings and see more of the excellent working . Bro . Harvey-George , Prov . G . J . W . Norfolk , also replied , and said that he had travelled 250 miles to be present on that occasion , and that it had afforded him considerable satisfaction to receive such a hearty welcome . Bro . Hinton , P . M ., responded on behalf of " The Masonic Charities , " and thanked the brethren for the
support accorded him , as he had been enabled to place 60 guineas on his list through their assistance . Bro . Hinton also replied for " The Past Masters , " and said the W . M . had spoken of the P . M . ' s in very warm terms , which evinced the good feeling existing between that body and the occupant of the chair . They were at all times ready to assist in the working to promote the
interests of the lodge . Bro . Clarke , P . M ., had that evening delivered the addresses in a manner that had never been excelled , and it was a good thing for a lodge to have a body of P . M . ' s ready to fulfil any duty they might be called upon to perform . Bro . Noble , P . M ., Sec , responding on behalf of "The Treasurer and Secretary , " regretted that Bro . Garnar ,
P . M ., Treas ., had been obliged to leave , owing to the indifferent state of his health , and assured the W . M . and brethren that the Treasurer and Secretaty would endeavour to continue their respective offices to the credit of the lodge and the satisfaction of the members . Bro . Campbell , S . W ., replied for " The Officers , " after
which the Tyler ' s toast closed the proceedings . The music , which considerably enhanced the enjoyment of the brethren , was performed solely by relatives of the W . His Royal Highness was one of the best rulers the Craft had possessed , and it was owing to the influence exercised by him that the Order had risen to it present eminent position . selection it had made . He asked the brethren to join him in wishing their VV . M . all the success he desired , and a happy and prosperous year of office . Bro . Bugler , VV . It was now his pleasing duty to present their I . P . M . with the Past Master ' s jewel
voted by the lodge . It afforded him considerable pleasure to make this presentation , as Bro . M ., responded , and thanked the W . M . for his kind remarks , and the brethren for their cordial reception of the toast . He also thanked them heartily

the members were respected by the Craft . Brethren were naturally pleased to visit lodges where they could cement other associations in a brotherly spirit of friendship and unity . Bro . Gardner , VV . M . 2012 , replied , and , after returning thanks , said that he had been present on two or three

Garnar ,
