Horsley wc cannot refrain from sayinff that , " take him for all in all , " he was a most zealous , benevolent , and indefatigable worker in the wide field of Masonry , and it may be some years before we shall " look upon his like again . Grand Supt . of Norfolk ( Royal Arch ) , strangely enough remarked that it appearea to be an ill-fated one , since his two predecessors ( Major tbe Hon . £ ¦" . Walpole , M . P ., and Lieut .-Col . Duff , M . P . ) had both died during their first year of office . Now , be-fore he has served twelve months , Col . L'Estrange has been summoned hence , and his loss will
be deeply felt . He was one of the directors of the Norwich Equitable Fire Society , and we understand he was elected chairman of the Board at thc recent death of Bro . A . M . F . Morgan—another distinguished Mason . A large number of companions and brethren attended the funeral , at Norwich Cemetery , on Friday week , but not in Masonic clothing—merely white ties and g loves . Deceased leaves a widow and five daughters to mourn a fond husband and affectionate father . — -Norwich Argus .

Helsdon was a Past Master of the Westbourne Lodge , No . 733 , and the Abercorn Lodge , No . 1549 ; of the last-named lodge he was the first Worshipful Master . Bro . Helsdon was also a Past First
Principal of the Westbourne Chapter , No . 733 ; Past Grand Pursuivant of the Province of Middlesex , and was a Life Governor to both the Boys' and Girls' Schools . The funeral , which took place on Friday , thc 20 th inst ., at Kensal Green Cemetery , was largely attended by brethren , among those present being Bros . J . Welfare ! , W . M . 733 ; T . W . BRO . WILLIAM SENDELL . Bro . William Sendell , of Exeter , passed away to his rest on the 12 th inst . Bro . Sendell was well known in the city in which be resided , and in the West of England generally , as a skilled wood-carver . Devoting his talents almost exclusively to church-work , his name has frequently been mentioned in this journal in connection with the various
undertakings with which he was associated . For many years , and to the last , he had b ^ en the protege' of the Earl of Devon , and under the especial patronage of that nobleman some of his best works were carried out . Bro . Sendell had many other patrons , and it might have been anticipated that a bright future was in store for him . Unfortunately ,
eccentricities—at that time unaccountable — appeared some time ago , and ultimately proved but the germ of a most distressing malady , a complaint under which he has just sunk at a comparatively early age—forty-two . Bro . Sendell , outside his professional calling , was well known as a Freemason . —Builder .

John Batty Lambeit , age sixty-five years , of Aughton-strett , Ormskirk—a gentleman well known ancl highly respected in the district , particularly in Masonic circles . He was initiated into Masonry about forty-five years ago in Lodge 29 8 , Rochdale , anil amongst the many distinguished
positions he held were those of W . M . of Lodges 298 , 5 80 , 613 , and 1403 ( he was the founder of Lodge 613 , and held the office of W . M . two years ) ; M . E . Z . of Chapter 580 * , and Prov . G . S . D . E . Lancashire . He was also the Treasurer of 5 80 Lodge and Chapter for many years . The interesting lectures on the Third Degree , delivered by him at Southport and Ormskirk , will long bc remembered by
those brethren who had the privilege of hearing them . He was at all times indefatigable in his exertions to further the interests of Freemasonry . The circumstances under which the death of our brother occurred are Masonically touching . Bro . Macgilivray , who was a member of the firm of McNaught , Robertson , and Co ., of Bankside , iron merchants , was in
his counting house writing letters , when he heard fearful screams issuing from the wharf-yard . Hastening to render assistance , in order to save time , as he thought , our brother endeavoured to climb over a stack of huge bars of iron , which fell and overwhelmed him . He sustained fracture ol the leg , which , on his removal to Guy ' s Hospital , was amputated * ancl , after a fortnight ' s lingering , blood poisoning set in , and death ensued on

Emerson , the assiduous and courteous manager of this theatre , too ' v his benefit on Friday , the 20 th inst ., and was rewarded by a croweled house for his painstaking and untiring efforts in his successful catering for thc public amusement . Thc performances commenced with the comedy of Checkmate , in which Mr . Joseph Bracewell , the
popular comedian , sustained the character of " Sam Winkle , " and Miss Power that of " Martha Bunn , " both artists doing ample justice to their parts , and gaining great applause . The comedy was followed by the pantomime Mother Goose , and a novel f- 'ature in thc harlequinade was tbe substitution of ladies for gentlemen . The part of "Harlequin" was played by Miss Alice Aynsley
Cook ; "Pantaloon , " Miss Lancashire ; "Clown , " Miss H . T , Power ; " Swell of the Period , " Miss Hatherley ; and " Police-man , " Miss F . Cowell . All these ladiis fillet ! their respective parts in a highly creditable manner , and , although it might be thought invidious to praise any particular one , we cannot n frain from doing so in the case of Miss Power , whose drollery provoked much laughter
and applause . In the course of the evening the bcncficiare appestrcd , and in a few well-chosen sentences thanked thc large audience for the kind support they had given him on this memorable occasion , and promised to merit the patronage of his supporters as much in the future as in the
past . To-night will be the last representation of the pantomime , which has undoubtedly had a most successful run , chiefly owing to the rollickinf fun brought forth by Mr . Madge , manager of the Globe newspaper , was iniiiated in " the St . Dunstan ' s Lodge of Freemasons , No . i ; 8 g . on Wednesday last .
A committee teport just presented to the Municipal Council of Antwerp contains the following particulars about the works of Rubens . Altogether Rubens produced 2719 works or art , among which 228 were sketchesand 484 drawings . Of all these works , 829 have never been copied , 690 are only known by copy , and 294 seem ( ost . To possess as complete as possible a collection
of the master ' s works the city of Antwerp will have to obtain copies of 536 pictures and to collect 921 engravings . The cost of a complete Rubens collection , such as was recommended by the Artists' Congress in 1 S 77 , would amount tn 30 , 000 fr ., and this sum has been voted by the Municipal

Bro . Brackstone Baker , Past Grand Deacon of England , retires from the Secretaryship of the Great Western Railway of Canada , an office which he had held for upwards of twenty-six years ; he has been a member of the Colonial Board for many years past . The rank of Past Grand Senior Warden of the Grand Lodge of Canada was in 1 SG 8 conferred on Bro . B . Baker in
recognition of eminent service- ; rendered towards adjusting the differences between the Grand Lodge of England and the Grand Lod ge of Cmada . He is also the representative in England of many Colonial and foreign Grand Lodges . The arrangements for the visit of the Prince and Princess of Wales to Cornwall on the occasion
of the laying of the foundation stone of the new Cathedral are now tolerably settled . They will travel from London to Plymouth on Tuesday , May iSih , by the ordinary express , going on thence by special train to Gram pound Road , where they will drive to Tregothnan . The ceremony will take place on Thursday , the 20 th , and on thc 2 ist their Royal Highnesses return to London .
The Queen and the Princess Beatrice visited the Empress Eugenie at Chislehurst on Wednesday , and on their way stopped at the Church of St Mary and placed wreaths on the tomb of the Iale Prince Imperial . We are asked to state that there is no

A committee teport just presented to the Municipal Council of Antwerp contains the following particulars about the works of Rubens . Altogether Rubens produced 2719 works or art , among which 228 were sketchesand 484 drawings . Of all these works , 829 have never been copied , 690 are only known by copy , and 294 seem ( ost . To possess as complete as possible a collection
of the master ' s works the city of Antwerp will have to obtain copies of 536 pictures and to collect 921 engravings . The cost of a complete Rubens collection , such as was recommended by the Artists' Congress in 1 S 77 , would amount tn 30 , 000 fr ., and this sum has been voted by the Municipal

H . R . H . Prince Leopold has appointed Thursday , March nth , for the holding of the meeting on behalf of thc Royal Masonic Pupils' Assistance Fund . H . R . H . had previously fixed Wednesday , the 10 th March . The meeting will be held at Freemasons' Hall , at three o ' clock .
Bro . Brackstone Baker , Past Grand Deacon of England , retires from the Secretaryship of the Great Western Railway of Canada , an office which he had held for upwards of twenty-six years ; he has been a member of the Colonial Board for many years past . The rank of Past Grand Senior Warden of the Grand Lodge of Canada was in 1 SG 8 conferred on Bro . B . Baker in
recognition of eminent service- ; rendered towards adjusting the differences between the Grand Lodge of England and the Grand Lod ge of Cmada . He is also the representative in England of many Colonial and foreign Grand Lodges . The arrangements for the visit of the Prince and Princess of Wales to Cornwall on the occasion
of the laying of the foundation stone of the new Cathedral are now tolerably settled . They will travel from London to Plymouth on Tuesday , May iSih , by the ordinary express , going on thence by special train to Gram pound Road , where they will drive to Tregothnan . The ceremony will take place on Thursday , the 20 th , and on thc 2 ist their Royal Highnesses return to London .
The Queen and the Princess Beatrice visited the Empress Eugenie at Chislehurst on Wednesday , and on their way stopped at the Church of St Mary and placed wreaths on the tomb of the Iale Prince Imperial . We are asked to state that there is no
foundation whatever for the rumour which has gained currency that Messrs . Wood and Romain , proprietors of Masons ' Hall Tavern , City , are about to dispos ; of their business . According to the latest arrangements the Empress Eugenie will leave Chislehurst on Good Friday by special train , and proceed direct to Plymouth , at which port her Imperial Majesty will embark and proceed to
