gratulate him upon the position to which the brethren had elected him , and sincerely wished him as happy a year of office as his own had been . Bro . Sheridan thanked the brethren very heartily for the great honour conferred upon him , his heart , he said , was too full to say much . When , 11 years ago , he saw the Tennant Lodge consecrated by the D . P . G . M . ( who he was pleased to see present ) he thought if ever he became Master of a lodge he would like it to be
the Tennant ; that ambition was now about to be realised . He promised the brethren that as far as his ability allowed he would faithfully serve the lodge , and nothing should be wanting on his part to make the year a successful one ; he could not hope to excel , but he would at least endeavour to imitate the distinguished brethren who had preceded him in the chair , he again thanked them most heartily . Bro . David Williams , P . M ., P . P . A . G . P ., was
then unanimously re-elected Treasurer and thanked the brethren for their renewed confidence and promised to carefully guard the interests of the lodge as in the past ; he alluded to the prosperous condition of the lodge and to the remarkable progress made in the last few years . Bro . Amos Jenkins was then unanimously re-elected Tyler , and on entering the lodge was informed by the W . M . that the brethren were so pleased with the cheerful and willing
manner in which he had discharged his duties and attended to their happiness and comfort that they had unanimously re-elected him . Bro . Jenkins said he could not possibly thank the W . M . as he should do for the kind way in which he had spoken of his humble services , it was a pleasure to him to serve them and as long as they wished it , and T . G . A . O . T . U . gave him health and strength , he should most cheerfully do the utmost in his power to please them .
Some beautiful pieces of plate were then p laced on a table in front of the W . M ., about 20 of his initiates stepped to the floor of the lodge , and Bro . John Hopkins , addressing the W . M ., said , as the W . M . ' s first initiate , he had been selected to ask him to accept at their hands that presentation as a very slight expression of the feeling entertained towards him by his initiates , they would never forget the beautiful way in which the VV . M . had initiated them into
Masonry and it was impossible for him to say how greatly they admired the W . M . 's character . His kindness , his never failing courtesy , and the warm interest he took in them had won all their hearts , and the articles they had the pleasure of asking him to accept were simply intended as an outward token of the feeling that was deep down in the heart of every one of them towards him . The W . M ., who spoke with deep feeling , said he did not at all know
how to thank them for the beautiful and costly presents they had so kindly made him , and especially for the very nice things Bro . Hopkins had said , and which all their faces hid shown were also their own thoughts and feelings , he could assure them that to have their good opinion , their esteem , and their affection , was very dear to him , he prized , and should ever p'ize their beautiful presents , but he even more deeply appreciated the kindly feeling which prompted
the gift , and the place which they had assured him he held in their hearts . He was proud of his Masonic children , everyone of whom he felt sure would prove a credit to the lodge . The beautiful presents would ever remind him of his happy year of office and of all whom it had been his great privilege to admit into the gloriousllight of Masonry ; he again thanked them from the bottom of his heart . The visitors having been welcomed , and replied , and
other business transacted , the lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to the ante-room for refreshments , ¦ which had been tastefully Lid out by Bro . Dunn . I he W . M ., on rising to propose " The Health of the D . P . G . M ., Bro . Marmaduke Tennant , " dwelt upon the ' happy relationships which had existed for the last 17 years 'between the worshipful Deputy and all the brethren of the province , which they were mast delighted to know were to
continue , as Bro . Tennant would still hold his important office under their new Prov . Giand Master . The toast was most heartily received . The Deputy Prov . Grand Master , in returning thanks , expressed the pleasure it had given him to be present that evening . He was at the installation of Bro . Bailey , and he was pleased to be present on his retiring . He had watched Bro . Bailey's year of office with much pleasure , and knew
that he deservedly held a large place in their hearts . He thanked the W . M . and all the brethren for the large amount they had sent him for the Masonic Charities of the province ; and then called on them to drink heartily ' •The Health of the W . M . " 1 his having been received enthusiastically , The W . M . thanked the worshipful Deputy and all the brethren for their kindness that evening , and all through his year of office . If he had given them satisfaction , and
held his place in their hearts , he was more than repaid . He expressed the hope 12 months ago that he m ght hand down the gavel to his successor with undminished glory . If he might feel that he had done so he should , -ndeed be proui . He then asked them to drink most heartily •' The Health of the W . M . elect , Bro . John Sheridan , " which was warmly received , and promptly replied to by the W . M . elect , who thanked the VV . M . for what he had said about him , and assured the brethren he would do his best to merit their
approval and esteem . H , o . T . Matthews , P . M , P . P . S . G . W ., proposed " The Visitors , " to which Bros . A . L . Roberts , W . M . 3 6 ; F . VV . K . Hybart , W . M . 960 ; and H . Morgan Rees , W . M . 1754 , responded , and expressed their pleas jre at being present , and how much they had enjoyed the evening . A recitation from the W . M . elect , and a song from Bro . the Rev . E . VV . Shepherd , M . A ., Chaplain , enlivened thi proceedings , which closed with the singing of the National Anthem .

materially increased . That its future will bj a useful and prosperous one there can be no doubt . The gathering attracted a very large attendance , and the proceedings were throughout marked by cordiality and good-feeling . The new VV . M ., Bro .
