The I . P . M ., in proposing the toast of "The W . M ., " said the admirable manner in which Bro . Sweeting had carried out his duties that evening was apparent , and gave him , and , he believed , them the greatest satisfaction , and they might congratulate themselves that in Bro . Sweeting they had a Master who would sustain the high character of the Nelson Lodge . As the time was getting short , he would ask them to drink the toast with ail the enthusiasm
it deserved . The W . M ., in response , said , ; is time and the trains waited for no man , he , too , must be brief ; but must thank them most cordially for the kind reception of his name . With respect to the flattering remarks of their I . P . M ., he could only say that he did not feel altogether deserving of them , as thoughts of other duties , and mostimportant ones , were on his mind , that took him away from Masonry just then : if , however , what he had done had met with their

the lodge upon the efficient way in which the working had been done , and specially complimented Bro . Tisley upon his beautiful rendering of the installation ceremony . In responding for "The P . M . 's of the Dobie Lodge , " Bro . Long briefly referred to its existence during the 20 years he had been a member , mentioning that at one period its fortunes were very low indeed . It was therefore a ureat
p leasure to him to find frequent applications for admission into the lodge , which was now in such a strong condition that he believed it would soon be the first in the Province of Surrey . suc-, cessful , they were initiated in due form . Bros . Smith and Baldry were raised , both ceremonies being performed by the W . M . ir good style , and then the lodge was closed . The banquet was served in the hall , and was thoroughly enjoyed , and , on the removal of the cloth , the W . M . in brief but suitable terms proposed the usual loyal and Masonic toasts , which were loyally honoured .
The I .
P . M ., he could only say that he did not feel altogether deserving of them , as thoughts of other duties , and mostimportant ones , were on his mind , that took him away from Masonry just then : if , however , what he had done had met with their

approbation , he himself was thoroughly satisfied . He was exceedingly pleased to-see such a muster ol the brethren of the lodge and from neighbouring lodges present , and could assure them of his earnest desire to do all that lay in his power for the benefit and prosperity of the lodge . The toast of "The Visitors" was responded to by Bro .
Hayes . The other toasts were " The Initiates , " " The Past Masters , " " The Officers , " and Tyler's toast . Some excellent singing enlivened the proceedings , which were prolonged into the small hours by jovial conviviality , and true brotherly love and harmony .

and other causes from being present . At one period of the proceedings there were 51 brethren within the "four walls , " of whom just a " baker's dozen " were Grand and Provincial Officers ; while the Board of Installed Masters was composed of iS . The W . M ., Bro . Tisley , P . G . S ., having opened the lodge , the usual routine business was transacted , including the reading of a very satisfactory report from the auditors .

H . Sharp was most praiseworth
y , and the dining room looked the picture of elegance , a profusion of choice flowers being displayed . The toast list was on the well-known lines . In responding for "The Grand Officers , " Bro . Case said that he was present at the consecration of the lodge , over 20 years ago , on the invitation of his friend , Bro . Dobie ; but he had not visited it since until now . He congratulated
the lodge upon the efficient way in which the working had been done , and specially complimented Bro .
A very enjoyable evening was spent , some good music being given by brethren present . Bro . Hodges was a great help in this direction , and Bro . Honeywell presided at the piano .
