ROYAL ARCH . CYPRUS . St . Paul ' s Chapter ( No . 2277 ) . —The installation meeting of the above chapter was held in the Masonic Rooms , Limassol , on the 4 th inst . The chapter was opened by Comp . F . O . Harvey , M . E . Z . j Comp . Major LoftusThackwell , 30 , P . Z ., P . D . G . P . S . Madras , acting H . j and Comp . A . Jones , J . After the reading of the
minutes of the previous convocation , the balance-sheet was submitted for approval . This showed the chapter to be in a sound financial position , as there was a good balance in hand , no liabilities , and the chapter had not only a complete set of furniture , & c , at Limassol , but almost a complete duplicate set at Larnaca , where the chapter was held occasionally . The accounts as presented were unanimously
passed . The election of officers for the ensuing year then took place with the following result : Comps . A . Jones , M . E . Z .,- A . Morton , H . ; E . A . Carletti , J . ; F . O . Harvey , I . P . Z ., Treas . j Turner , S . E . j Cannons , S . N . j Dr . Kenny , A . M . D ., P . S . j A . C . Harvey , ist A . S . j and Dr . Carageorgiades , 2 nd A . S . Comp . F . O . Harvey

Harvey , but [ that it had not yet arrived , although it was known to be en route , and he hoped to have the pleasure at the next meeting of pinning on that mark of their approval of the work done by the retiring M . elected honorary members of the chapter in consideration of services rendered : Comps . W . Hayward , P . Z . ; E . Hawks , M . E . Z . Zetland Chapter , Alexandria ; and Major Loftus Thackwell , P . Z ., & c . There being no further business , the chapter was closed , and the companions adjourned to an excellent supper , set out in the banqueting-room of the St . Paul ' s Lodge . After the usual patriotic , loyal , and Masonic toasts ,
The LP . Z . gave " The Health of the M . E . Z , " and said it was the third chair that he had seen Comp . Jones occupy , as he was P . M . of St . Paul's Lodge , W . M . of St . Paul ' s Mark Lodge , and now he had reached the high office of M . E . Z . of the St . Paul ' s Chapter . He congratulated him upon his progress in Masonry , and had every belief that the chapter would prosper under his energetic care . Comp . Jones , in reply , thanked the companions for the
hearty manner in which they had received the toast of his health , and for the kind things that the Installing Officer and LP . Z . had said about him . He fully appreciated the distinction that had been conferred upon him , which had enabled him to reach the summit of his ambition in Masonry , viz ., to have occupied the chair in the Craft , the Mark , and the Arch . The honours had rather been conferred upon him by force of circumstances than by long
service or peculiar merit , but he could assure the companions that he would do his utmost to further the welfare of the chapter , and maintain the standard of efficiency that had been set up by his predecessors . He had to thank Comps . Harvey and Morton for being present there that evening . The companions in England did not have to make such a journey to attend their chapter as was made by the companions he had mentioned . He knew that if a
brother travelled 100 miles on a well-appointed railway in England to attend lodge or chapter he was complimented on his energy , but what would our brothers and companions at home think of riding 60 miles over rough roads and mountain passes , and the following day make the return journey . Yet such was the case with Comps . Harvey and Morton , and he thanked them sincerely for the Masonic spirit they had shown in being present with them that
evening . The other toasts were " The Installing Officer , " " The Second and Third Principals , " and "The Officers , " all of which were suitably replied to . The Janitor's toast closed the proceedings .
