^ pHE old snuff-box and Royal Arch jewel here reproduced I formerly belonged to Bro . Richard Carpenter Smith , who was initiated in the Jerusalem Lodge , No . 334 ( now 197 ) , on the 21 st February , 1827 , of which lodge he continued a subscribing member for exactly ten years . He
served as Grand Steward in 18 3 6-7 . Bro . Smith was exalted in the Jerusalem Chapter , "No . 308 ( now 185 ) , on the 1 oth March , 1829 . He joined the Chapter of St . James , No . 2 , on the 4 th [ February , 1830 , and resigned on the 5 th December 18 33 . The snuff-box is 4 ^ in . long , 1 j in .
wide , and jj- in . deep . It is beautifully painted in colours , and is still in good condition , with the exception of surface cracks and scratches . The lid represents the Three Graces . the sides and bottom the three Tracing Boards , and at each end the Masonic Arms and the Royal Arch respectively , the
latter being , practically , a copy of the accompanying Royal Arch jewel , which bears his name and the date ' of - his exaltation . The photos were taken by Bro . E . Fox-Thomas , P . G . Std . Br . England .

THE installation meeting of the Sancta Maria Lodge , No . 2682 , took place at Mark Masons' Hall , London , on Tuesday , nth November , when Bro . the Rev . H . S . Cronin , P . P . G . Chaplain of Cambridge , was installed . The outgoing Master , Bro . H . Pearce , P . P . G . D . of Sussex , installed his successor in a very able manner , and the
following officers were appointed for the ensuing year : — Bros . P . P . Whitcombe , M . B ., S . W . ; M . M . Bird , M . B , J . W . ; M . Morris , P . G . D ., Treasurer ; J . E . Lane , Secretary ; W . J . Gow , M . D ., S . D . ; F . A . Brocks , M . D ., J . D . ; G . Murray , I . G .
The brethren , of whom there were about sixty present , afterwards adjourned to Freemasons' Tavern , where a banquet was served , after which the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were proposed and duly honoured . The I . P . M ., in proposing " The Health of the Worshipful Master , " said it was a pleasing record in the annals of
the lodge , that a member not of the medical profession ( of which the lodge is mainly composed ) should be installed in the chair of King Solomon . The Worshipful Master briefly responded .
