Board of General Purposes regarding the Grand Lodge Property . "The members of the Howe Lodge , No . 857 , having carefully considered the report from the Board of General Purposes , dated 10 th January last , beg to express their entire approval of the principles aud practice suggested "b y tho first three questions therein propounded ; being firmly of opinion that an adoption of the system they propose , cannot fail—to use the language of the report—to elevate the character of Masonry in this country ; feeling also , that no pecuniary return whatever , which might result from an extension of tavern accommodation , would counterbalance the reproach which such a proceeding must inevitably and justly entail upon an Order already too much subjected to the stigma ( however undeserved ) of being mere ' gluttonous wine bibbers , the friends of publicans and sinners . ' "

M ., the ceremony ancl the explanation of the first tracing board by Bro . Fitzgerald , P . M . AVe are happy to say that at the next meeting a resolution will be passed that this Lodge shall annually subscribe to the Masonic charities , ancl doubtless a subscription to the Magazine will follow .
