The flowers on the table ivere of the choicest in blossom , aud so profusely provided that they were mentioned with encomium by almost all present .
Tho speeches ivere short ancl to the purpose , ancl the lodge bids fair to be not only prosperous but i-ery happy under its new AA ' . M . Bros . Carter , Frechet , J . It . Thomson , Colnian , and others sung some capital songs , and the evening ivas most agreeably spout by all present .

' s jewel bearing the following inscription : — " Presented to Bro . the Rev . John Denton , M . Worshipful Master , from June 1862 to June 1864 . "" Bro . Smith , iu presenting this part of the testimonial , dwelt ou the service * which Bro . Denton had rendered the lodge , on the position which the loclge had acquired , and the number of new member * which it had obtained during his two years of office ; ancl also on the respect and esteem which he ( Bro . CAHDIKF . —Bute Lodge ( So . 960 ) . —Thursday , the 30 th June , was a memorable clay for this lodge , and one that will always be conspicuous in its annals , as well as long remembered with pleasure and pride by those who shared in the festivities connected with the celebration of its first anniversary . At high noon upon that clay twelvemonth , the loclge was consecrated by Bro . Samuel Bryant , Prov . G . Commander Iv . T . Bristol , & c ,
and tlie labours of the enthusiastic AV . M . then installed , and of many of his officers , have been well nigh incessant ever since , concluding at little short of the same hour upon the day of our present report . At nine o'clock a . m . a lodgo of emergency was held for the purposes of initiating a master mariner , about immediately to proceed to sea . The AA . M . presided , supported by his officers , ancl thus very characteristically wound up the business of this most extraordinary year . Some idea of the
amount of work performed by these indefatigable Masons will be gathered when we record that this was the seventy-first candidate initiated within the first year of the lodge ' s existence , that the lodges ancl lodges of emergency held have been over fifty ( at every one of which the AV . M . has presided ) , and thafc the receipts have during the same period amounted to J 315 Sresults altogether unprecedented in this , or , we should imagine ,, any other province . reassembled at tlie Masonic Hall , Consulate Chambers , where they have met during the past year , and which was throughout the present meeting crowded to excess . Indeed , this comparatively commodious and beautifullv-decorated building
( some account of tlie perfect appointments-of which we gave in our report of the consecration ceremony ) has long been felt , owing to the rapidly-increasing growth of this flourishing loclge , to be altogether inadequate to the requirements of tlie brethren ; and a most eligible site having been placed at their disposal by the Trustees of the Marquis of Bute , a Joint Stock Company has been formed , and nearly the whole of the capital subscribed for the building of a very handsome ancl commodious Temple
, the plans and designs of which were now for the first time exhibited in the loclge , ancl which secured for the architect , Bro . Hancorn , P . M ., the warm eulogiums of the brethren . Additional interest was created in the present meeting by the expected visit of the recently-appointed D . Prov . G . M ., Bro . T . M . Xalbot is an initiate ancl Past Senior Warden of the Apollo Loclge , Oxford , as well as founder and thrice Master of tho Allan Lodge , Aberavon ; and although , no doubt , the most juvenile brother ever appointed to so important a Masonic post , his zeal , ability , and comparative experience amply compensate for his youthancl he is likely to prove a valuable acquisition to a
, Provincial Grand Lodge in the highest offices of which talented working Masons have not superabounded . Upon tlie present occasion , the able and accomplished founder , as well as Past Master of the Bute Loclge , Bro . J . C .
