Matthew Cooke will deliver a Lecture on the Connection between Templary ancl Freemasonry ( to Knights Templar only ) , at the rooms of "The Masonic Union Company , " limited , Id , Bedford-row , AV . C , on Tuesday evening , the 26 th of July , 1864 , under the sanction of Sir AVm . Stuart , M . E . and S . Grand Master .

MERCHANT JNAVX LODGE ( JS o . 781 ) .- —The brethren met at the Jamaica Hotel , "West India Docks , on Thursday , the Oth inst ., Bro . J . B . JDaniell , A \ . M ., presiding , assisted by his officers , Bros . AA right , Blickfeklf , Msinton , Potts , Kindred , Killick , Davies , Head , and many other brethren and visitors . The minutes of the last meeting having been read by the Secretary and confirmed , Bro . Bumip was raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason . The lodge then resumed to the 1 st degree ,

and called off for refreshment to a cold collation , which was prepared by Bro . Beard in his usual liberal style . After the removal of the cloth , lodge resumed , ivhen Bro . Potts , P . M ., being delegated by the brethren , addressed Bro . John AA riglit , I . P . M ., in most appropriate and eulogistic terms , and presented him with a very handsome jewel , voluntarily subscribed for by the members of the lodge , as a mark of their esteem for most able and efficient services rendered as AA ' . M . for tivo consecutive

years—1862 and 1863 . Bro . Wright , under evident emotion , in returning thanks to the brethren , said he was taken by surprise , as it was only a few hours before that he had been made acquainted with the intention of the brethren by the receipt of a very feeling letter from their Secretary , Bro . E . T . Ulead , conveying to him the good wishes , & c , of the brethren . He should ever hold and esteem this mark of their favour as one of the brihtest and most cheering incidents in his Masonic career . It

g had always heen his wish and endeavour , so far as lay in his power , to show that Masonry was not a plaything- —ivith him its duties and claims were paramount ; and , from the expression of their confidence this evening , he felt that although hardly deserving this mark of their respect and affection , that he hud not laboured in vain . They had given him credit not for ivhat he bad done , hut for what he wished to do . The lodge was then closed ia due form with , solemn m-uyer .

DEVONSHIRE . Monies TOWN , JDEVONPOKT . —lodge St . Aubyn ( So . 954 ) . — The regular meeting of this lodge was held at the Masonic l . ootns , Moon-street , on the evening of Tuesday , the 14 th inst . The usual formula of opening having been gone through , the minutes of the last regular and the emergency meetings were read and confirmed . A ballot was then taken for the two propositions ivhieh were made at the previous regular lodge

, together with that of a joining member of Lodge Sincerity ( No . 189 ) , all of ivhieh ivere unanimously favourable to the respective candidates . The two brethren duly initiated at the May lodge meeting being in waiting , were , after proper examination , pass ° d to the second degree . The lodge being resumed to the first degree , and the candidates for that degree having arrived , ivere severally introduced and installed into

ancient Freemasonry , and expressed themselves desirous of becoming members of the lodge . Bro . J . AV . delivered the charge in both degrees , and Bro . S . W . tho symbolic meaning of the working tools . This being the night for the election of a W . Master , Treasurer , and Tyler , and the nomination of brethren to fill those offices having been made at the last meeting , a ballot was taken , resulting in the unanimous election of Bro .
